Abstract

The story of the Prophet Yusuf in the Qur'an (QS. Surat Yusuf) has been transformed into a sacred text of Lontar Yusup culture among the people of the Osing tribe, Banyuwangi. This research aims to unravel the process of negotiation and cultural adaptation using an intertextual literary criticism approach. Through the descriptive qualitative method, QS. Yusuf's letter is positioned as a hypogram and Yusup's Lontar manuscript as a transformation text. The results of the study show that local copyists do not just carry out literal translations, but practice cultural transposition through three main mechanisms: narrative expansion that domesticates the geographical setting into agrarian cosmology and the ethics of the archipelago palace; modification of characterization from a pure prophetic figure to an ideal knight figure who walks the path of Sufism; as well as theological contextualization through the practice of performing the ritual of mocking the night before. In conclusion, the intertextual relationship in this tradition is not a syncretism that reduces the purity of the value of monotheism, but a form of civilizational negotiation and a harmonious cultural da'wah strategy. These findings confirm that sacred texts can be earthed as functional moral guides without having to uproot the roots of indigenous peoples' sociocultural identities.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Total Quality Management (TQM) on service quality at regional representative office of a central bank, with digitalization as a mediating factor. The study applied a quantitative explanatory design with a total sampling technique involving all 45 employees across different units at regional representative office of a central bank. Data were collected through structured questionnaires using a likert scale. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software. Results show that TQM, digitalization, and service quality are perceived at very high levels. TQM significantly improves service quality both directly and indirectly through digitalization, which functions as a partial mediator. These findings highlight the importance of digital integration in reinforcing management processes and enhancing service performance. This research highlights digitalization as a mediating mechanism that strengthens cross-unit coordination and translates TQM practices into improved service performance in a public financial institution.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the potential of Labuhan Ratu VII Village, East Lampung Regency, as a buffer village for Way Kambas National Park, which has great potential for developing conservation education tourism. Although the community has been involved in tourism management, management practices still face various obstacles, such as suboptimal promotion, limited infrastructure, low community participation outside the core group, and irregular recording of tourist visit data. This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of Community Based Tourism (CBT) in managing conservation education tourism in Labuhan Ratu VII Village. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study design, and a theoretical approach to the main development aspects of CBT according to Suansri (2003), which include economic, social, cultural, environmental, and political principles. The results show that the implementation of CBT has contributed to community development through job creation, increased community income, strengthening social and institutional roles, preserving local culture, and efforts to control tourism activities and conservation education. However, the resulting benefits have not been felt evenly and still require strengthening in aspects of community participation, promotion, and the role of local institutions.

Abstract

The rapid development of artificial intelligence technology has significantly transformed the healthcare sector, including the emergence of AI-based medical chatbots used for diagnosis support, symptom checking, health consultation, and patient education. In Indonesia, the adoption of medical chatbots has increased alongside the expansion of digital health services. However, the legal framework governing transparency obligations and informed consent mechanisms in the operation of AI-based medical chatbots remains fragmented and insufficient. This study analyzes the urgency of establishing comprehensive regulations concerning transparency and informed consent in the use of medical chatbots in Indonesia. The research employs a normative juridical method through statutory, conceptual, and comparative approaches. The study examines Indonesian laws relating to health services, electronic information systems, personal data protection, consumer protection, and medical ethics. The findings indicate that AI-based medical chatbots may create legal uncertainty regarding accountability, patient autonomy, data privacy, algorithmic bias, and medical malpractice risks when transparency and informed consent principles are not adequately regulated. Furthermore, existing regulations have not specifically addressed the obligations of developers and healthcare providers to disclose AI system limitations, decision-making processes, data usage practices, and potential risks to users. Therefore, Indonesia urgently requires a specific and harmonized regulatory framework to ensure legal certainty, patient protection, ethical healthcare innovation, and responsible AI governance. This article recommends the formulation of detailed transparency standards, mandatory informed consent procedures, algorithmic accountability principles, and supervisory mechanisms to support the safe and ethical implementation of AI-based medical chatbots in Indonesia.

Abstract

Income Tax Article 21 is one of Indonesia’s most visible fiscal instruments because it is deducted directly from workers’ employment income. Although exemption or government-borne PPh 21 has been used as a stimulus to protect disposable income, its legitimacy depends on how society interprets its fairness, effectiveness, and administrative accessibility. This study examines public perceptions of PPh 21 exemption through a qualitative netnographic analysis of TikTok discourse. Data were collected from the comment section of one @metropolitan.id video discussing the policy, which generated 6.1 million views, 126,000 likes, and 8,553 comments. After screening, 8,310 comments were coded using thematic analysis within an interpretive netnographic framework. The findings reveal four major themes. First, the policy was evaluated through its direct effect on take-home pay, with salary and PPh-related comments dominating the discussion. Second, users connected the policy to structural burdens such as BPJS contributions and formal employment registration. Third, public debate centered on distributive justice, especially the perceived exclusion of informal and unstable workers. Fourth, support for the policy was conditional and often accompanied by aspirations for more concrete subsidies, such as electricity discounts. The study contributes to fiscal policy and public-sector accounting literature by showing that digital public discourse offers a naturalistic source of evidence for understanding policy legitimacy, trust, and citizen evaluation in the digital governance era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) in supporting the expansion of Yasaka Chicken culinary business branches in Bandar Lampung. The research employed a qualitative case study approach using primary data collected through in-depth interviews with business owners, operational managers, employees, suppliers, and loyal customers, complemented by secondary data from company documents and relevant literature. The analysis was conducted using the nine components of the Business Model Canvas, namely Customer Segments, Value Proposition, Channels, Customer Relationships, Revenue Streams, Key Resources, Key Activities, Key Partnerships, and Cost Structure. The findings reveal that the successful expansion of Yasaka Chicken branches is strongly influenced by a clear understanding of customer segments, a distinctive value proposition, effective utilization of digital and physical channels, and the implementation of standardized operational procedures across outlets. Strategic partnerships with suppliers and online delivery platforms also contribute significantly to operational efficiency and business scalability. In addition, the identification of revenue streams and cost structures provides valuable support for financial planning and profitability management during expansion. This study demonstrates that the Business Model Canvas serves not only as an analytical framework for evaluating business performance but also as a strategic tool for supporting managerial decision-making and sustainable branch development. The findings contribute to the literature on business model implementation in culinary enterprises and provide practical recommendations for businesses seeking growth in competitive urban markets.

Abstract

This study examines business process improvement in catfish farming enterprises using the Business Process Improvement (BPI) method in Batuliman Indah Village, South Lampung Regency. Catfish farming plays an important role in supporting local livelihoods and meeting increasing market demand; however, many small-scale producers continue to face operational and managerial challenges that reduce efficiency and business sustainability. Data were collected through field observations, semi-structured interviews with 9 respondents consisting of catfish farmers and related stakeholders, and document analysis. The study begins by mapping the existing business processes (As-Is) across key production stages, including pond preparation, seed stocking, feeding, maintenance, harvesting, and marketing. The BPI framework is then applied to identify value-added and non-value-added activities, analyze root causes of process inefficiencies, and design proposed improved processes (To-Be). The findings reveal that major problems in the current business processes include the absence of standardized operating procedures and systematic record-keeping, inefficient feed utilization, unstable water quality management, relatively high fish mortality rates, and strong dependence on intermediaries in the marketing process. Based on the BPI analysis, proposed process improvements focus on workflow simplification, standardization of operational procedures, enhancement of monitoring and documentation systems, and reduction of non-value-added activities. The study concludes that an integrated application of Business Process Improvement can significantly improve operational efficiency, managerial control, and consistency of catfish farming activities, thereby supporting more sustainable and competitive small-scale aquaculture enterprises. The results of this research are expected to provide practical insights for farmers, extension agencies, and policymakers in improving business process management within the fisheries sector.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze consumer behavior towards design and quality preferences for Bonas Jaya Furniture cabinets in Central Lampung. The increasingly competitive development of the furniture industry requires businesses, particularly MSMEs, to understand consumer behavior patterns in determining purchasing decisions. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with internal informants consisting of business owners, production employees, and marketing staff, as well as external informants in the form of consumers who have used the cabinet products. Data analysis was conducted by examining the stages of consumer behavior, namely need awareness, information search, alternative evaluation, purchase decision, and post-purchase behavior. The results show that consumer preference for Bonas Jaya cabinets is significantly influenced by the suitability of the design to the living space conditions and product quality, including materials, workmanship, and finishing results. Consumers tend to carry out the decision-making process rationally and planned, supported by trust and transparency of information from the business. Positive post-purchase behavior is reflected in the level of consumer satisfaction and the tendency to make repeat purchases and provide recommendations to others. This study is expected to serve as a reference for local furniture businesses in designing product development strategies oriented to consumer needs and preferences..

Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the relationship between product quality, service quality, brand image, and consumer purchase intention at Zelora Fashion Store in Bandar Lampung City. The study employed a quantitative research design, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to consumers who had visited or made purchases at the store. The analysis was performed using multiple linear regression techniques with a significance level of 5%, supported by company records showing 3,827 visitors and purchasing consumers during the research period. The findings indicate that product quality, service quality, and brand image jointly have a significant influence on consumer purchase intention. In addition, product quality and service quality were found to affect brand image when analyzed simultaneously. The partial analysis further revealed that product quality, service quality, and brand image each contribute positively and significantly to consumer purchase intention. Regarding the mediating variable, product quality was proven to have a significant effect on brand image, whereas service quality did not show a significant influence on brand image. These results suggest that consumers are more likely to develop purchase intentions when they perceive the products offered as having high quality, receive satisfactory service, and hold positive perceptions of the brand. Furthermore, product quality appears to play an important role in strengthening brand image, which subsequently contributes to increasing consumer interest in making purchases. Overall, the study highlights the strategic importance of maintaining product excellence and building a strong brand image in order to attract and retain consumers. Therefore, Zelora Fashion Store is encouraged to continuously improve product quality while implementing branding strategies that enhance consumer trust and strengthen market competitiveness.
