Abstract

The purpose of this research is to see if the quality of a sustainability report has an effect on firm’s performance. The quality of sustainability report is assessed by its assurance statement and also from the disclosure of GRI standards on the sustainability report. The samples that are used for this research are the firms who had received the ASRRAT award for 2018-2020 period which will be using the reports from 2017-2019. The result of this research shows that the variables used such as sustainability disclosure index and assurance statement has no effect on firm’s performance but then again when both of the variables are tested simultaneously result shows that it has a positive effect on firm performance which on this research is measured by return on assets. But the variable firm size is proven to have a negative effect on firm’s performance and industry sensitivity is proven to have no effect on firm’s performance.

Abstract

Recent decades have seen a movement in successful leadership theorizing, views, and study toward an emphasis on interpersonal skills and the leader's ability to inspire, encourage, and motivate subordinates and generate and sustain a good feeling of participation to the whole organization. Previous research and conceptions of leadership have tended to center on command and control, strategic planning, and goal setting, but this new approach takes a very different tack. Therefore, the basis of this essay is the connection between emotional intelligence (leading from the heart) and transformational leadership in the context of COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic difficulties. It is therefore argued here that a leadership style that centers on emotional intelligence mediated by transformational leadership can be instrumental in guiding business organizations through the times of crisis that humanity (and the organization specifically) is currently facing, unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic challenges. The method utilized in this essay is based on a fast review of the current literature on these occurrences and how it may be used to develop a conceptual framework that could provide novel insights into how to effectively address the difficulties of Covid-19 with strong leadership. The conclusion of this essay is that in times of crisis – such as the one that was brought about by Covid-19 – a combination of emotional intelligence and transformational leadership is required to create meaningful change within an organization. This will allow the organization to recover and continue to function economically and sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the emerging themes in the family firm innovation (FFI) through retrospection of FFI research and propose the way forward for the FFI domain. Based on 666 journal articles indexed in the Scopus database till 10 July 2022, we performed the performance and intellectual structure analysis using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix-R. This study sheds light on the main themes through thematic mapping. A possible future research avenue to advance FFI knowledge is proposed. We expect our findings to open up many more opportunities for FFI to stay competitive and sustain post-COVID-19 pandemic recovery. We believe this study represents the first few complementary bibliometric reviews on FFI, including the publications since the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, this study contributes to redirecting the FFI research post-COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Uncertainty arises as a result of changing environmental conditions, and the company must be able to adapt to these changes by encouraging innovation. Innovation capability is required in order to encourage innovation, because innovation capability is a company's ability to innovate. Several previous studies examined the role of entrepreneurial orientation, absorptive capacity, and improvisation on innovation capability; however, in previous studies, entrepreneurial orientation was tested at the organizational level with the dimensions of risk taking, proactiveness, and innovativeness, whereas in this study, we attempted to examine entrepreneurial orientation at the individual level by adding passion and perseverance as a dimension. The context of this research is also carried out in one of the companies, which is a State-Owned Enterprise (SOEs), where several studies have views on the low innovation capability of SOEs. In this study, we attempt to investigate empirically the effect of individual entrepreneurial orientation on innovation capability in the business unit at PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (Persero), a state-owned enterprise engaged in industrial estate services. The study's findings show that an individual entrepreneurial orientation, as mediated by absorptive and improvisational abilities, can influence innovation capability. This research is expected to benefit the company by maximizing its absorptive capacity and improvisation ability, as well as paying attention to the entrepreneurial orientation of the individual in the company.
