Abstract

Efficiency in public expenditure remains a major challenge in Indonesia's regional financial management, particularly amid fiscal constraints and growing demands for transparency. This study is purposed to examine the influence of internal accountability and financial transparency on the efficiency of regional government expenditure. This research uses secondary data from the Regional Government Financial Reports (LKPD) published by the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK) and the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), with panel data comprising 34 provinces in Indonesia for the period 2019–2023, and employs a fixed-effects model. The results show that internal accountability and financial transparency both have a positive, significant effect on regional expenditure efficiency. A one-point increase in internal accountability raises efficiency by 0.42 points, while a one-point increase in financial transparency raises it by 0.35 points. These findings imply that a combination of strong internal controls and public financial disclosure fosters fiscal discipline and reduces budget inefficiency. In theoretical terms, this study extends the application of agency theory and new public management in developing economies by highlighting the critical role of the synergy between accountability and transparency in determining sustainable fiscal efficiency in local governance.

Abstract

ASEAN economic integration aims to build an efficient banking sector that channels funds and maintains market liquidity, thereby increasing firms’ values. The performance of financial intermediation and banks' liquidity in the region has been unstable since the pandemic; nevertheless, this has not benefited firms, as it has driven their values down. The present research seeks to measure the impact of financial intermediation and market liquidity on banks' value in ASEAN and to explore differences across countries. By relying on a panel dataset derived from 80 banks situated in five different ASEAN countries during the years 2015–2023 and applying the Dynamic Panel Data method focusing on the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM), the study concludes that, in general, both financial intermediation and market liquidity significantly and positively impact the firm value, with the former being the stronger factor. Profitability fortifies this connection, while leverage seems to have no effect. The analysis of countries shows that the role of intermediation is largest in Indonesia and Vietnam, while Singapore and Malaysia are more affected by liquidity. The main contribution of this work is the simultaneous use of two important financial factors in a single dynamic cross-country model, which allows us to better understand how intermediation efficiency and liquidity together increase firm value. These results highlight the need for market integration policies and for improving intermediation efficiency to make the ASEAN banking sector more competitive.

Abstract

Digital transformation encourages governments to enhance data-driven services, but digitalization alone cannot ensure fast, accurate processes without adequate analytical capabilities. This study examines how data analytics capacity influences the efficiency of digital public services, focusing on response speed, service-flow accuracy, and operational stability. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, the research analyzes 200-300 digital service transactions collected over 3-6 months through descriptive statistics and regression, followed by semi-structured interviews with 6-10 data analysts, application managers, and service personnel to deepen the quantitative insights. Results show that applying data analytics accelerates response time by up to 31 percent, reduces error rates to below 2 percent, and maintains stable turnaround times even during peak demand. Analytics also helps agencies identify operational patterns and strengthens evidence-based decision-making, supporting the development of an empirical model that links analytics capability to digital service efficiency, an area rarely assessed within Indonesian public administration. The study highlights practical implications, including the need to improve real-time dashboards, automate monitoring tools, and enhance staff data literacy to accelerate digital reform and deliver more responsive, accurate, and reliable public services.

Abstract

The motivation behind this research is the growing influence of Generation Z in the labor force, which requires leadership styles that are more flexible, inspiring, and focused on individual development. Among these, transformational leadership is the most relevant, as it fosters internal motivation and employee participation, leading to better performance. The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of transformational leadership on the performance of Generation Z workers. A quantitative method with an explanatory research design was used in a survey of 128 Generation Z employees selected through purposive sampling. The data were gathered using a Likert-scale questionnaire and processed using simple linear regression. The results reveal that transformational leadership not only positively but also significantly impacts the performance of Gen Z employees and accounts for a considerable portion of the variance in work quality, work quantity, punctuality, and responsibility. The innovation of this research lies in combining a generational view with non-monetary performance measurement in management accounting. The theoretical contributions to leadership studies and practical recommendations for companies on developing effective, long-lasting leadership strategies are the twofold benefits of this study.

Abstract

A tumultuous business environment powered by technological disruption, market volatility, and fierce competition necessitates companies to implement adaptive strategies. This study examines the impact of strategic agility on firm performance, using dynamic capability as the primary theoretical lens. A quantitative method was used via an explanatory survey of 200-300 managers from medium and large-scale companies operating in highly uncertain sectors. Information was gathered through structured questionnaires and analyzed using variance-based Structural Equation Modeling (SmartPLS). The findings show that dynamic capability has a significant impact on strategic agility, and that strategic agility has a significant impact on firm performance. The performance impact of dynamic capability remains strong, but it is strongest when it passes through the strategic agility mediator. The argument is that the capabilities of sensing, seizing, and reconfiguring lead to performance only if they are communicated to management as enabling fast, flexible decision-making. The present research aims to clarify the role of strategic agility as a critical channel linking dynamic capability to firm performance, and, secondly, to provide managers with practical implications for developing adaptive strategies to secure sustainable performance in an ever-changing business climate.

Abstract

The digital transformation of local public services has become a powerful weapon in the fight against bureaucracy and the battle for public approval but results still vary widely by region. The purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of the digitalization of local public services on public satisfaction. A quantitative, explanatory, cross-sectional survey was conducted among 180 users of local digital public services. The data were gathered through an online survey consisting of a Likert scale and were analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The research results demonstrate that the digital transformation of local public services increased public satisfaction (β = 0.721; p < 0.05) and accounted for 46.8% of the variance, indicating that digitalization played a significant role in the variation in public satisfaction. The innovative aspect of this research was to make public satisfaction the primary measure of the effectiveness of local public-sector digitalization, rather than simply measuring technology use. It offers empirical support for the development of public administration studies. It provides local governments with the opportunity to guide digitalization policies toward quality service, user experience, and sustainable public value creation, with practical implications.

Abstract

This study employs a quantitative, explanatory design using a survey administered to 180 employees who have participated in digital learning programs within the organization under investigation. The study population comprises all employees with direct experience in digital learning. A purposive sampling technique was applied based on the criteria of active employees who had engaged in digital learning at least once within the past six months and were involved in work activities requiring competency development, while interns and employees who had never participated in digital learning were excluded. The sample size of 180 respondents was considered adequate for quantitative analysis and linear regression testing and is consistent with the figures reported in the abstract, results, and discussion sections. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire employing a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using simple linear regression to examine the effect of digital learning on employee competency.

Abstract

In the form of an enormous shadow economy that lies outside the purview of formal regulations, the thriving digital economy of Indonesia is hesitant in traversing its path. This research will survey the strategy for managing informal activities in the digital business ecosystem, based on a survey of 300 respondents and interviews with 12 informants from five cities. The results revealed that 67% of participants engage in informal businesses, especially in e-commerce (38%), the gig economy (29%), and informal online services (21%). The logistic regression identified high legalization costs, low incentives, and a negative perception of the government as the key variables driving informality. Lower digital literacy was associated with lower informality, but the effect was not statistically significant. The research proposes a framework comprising three pillars to support formalization: digital platform governance, socioeconomic incentives, and data-driven technologies. The findings here inform the formulation of candidate policies for an inclusive, equitable, and sustainable digital economy in Indonesia.

Abstract

Public participation is a key element of democratic governance, yet conventional Musrenbang practices in Indonesia continue to face limitations in inclusivity, transparency, and the effective conveyance of community aspirations. The digitalization of Musrenbang is expected to address these challenges by expanding access and strengthening accountability. This study aims to analyze the extent to which digital Musrenbang platforms enhance the quality of public participation and to identify the factors that influence their effectiveness. The research employs a quantitative, cross-sectional survey design involving 200 respondents, supported by secondary data, including user activity logs and official digital Musrenbang documents. Analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations, and multiple linear regression. The findings indicate that digital Musrenbang is perceived as inclusive (72%) and transparent (81%), although the effectiveness of aspiration follow-up remains limited (62%). Digital literacy and infrastructural access are the principal determinants of participation effectiveness. This study affirms that digital Musrenbang has the potential to strengthen technology-based participatory democracy, if user capacity and accountable follow-up mechanisms are adequately supported.

Abstract

The new digital age calls for organizations to focus not just on productivity but also on employees' well-being and the perks that come with it. The increasing demand for work flexibility and the customization of well-being programs have become serious factors in talent attraction and retention. This research aims to analyze how organizational strategies for work flexibility and individualized well-being programs positively affect employee well-being in the digital era, with a focus on Indonesia. The study proceeded by conducting a survey of 400 employees from digital-based companies against predetermined criteria using a quantitative methodology. The instrument that comprised the questionnaire was structured using a Likert scale. After being tested for validity and reliability, the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. From the results, we find that both work flexibility and personalization have significant and positive effects on employee well-being, with personalization exerting a greater effect (β=0.428) than flexibility (β=0.312). Therefore, the two variables account for 53.2% of the variance in employee well-being. This study's contribution lies in combining flexibility and personalization into a more holistic organizational strategy, which has not been much investigated in the Indonesian context. In practice, organizations should complement their flexible policies with well-being programs based on individual employee needs to improve retention, loyalty, and sustainable performance.
