Abstract

Brown leaf spot disease caused by Bipolaris oryzae poses a significant challenge in rice production. The use of synthetic pesticides potentially leads to adverse effects on ecosystems. This study analyzes the efficacy of Jadam Wetting Agent (JWA) as an adjuvant in controlling the disease within the operational area of the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) in Panceng District, Gresik. The research methodology combines quantitative and qualitative approaches, involving 60 rice farmers as respondents. Results indicate that JWA application effectively reduces infection intensity by 47.04% and increases dry grain yield productivity by 14.53%. The adoption rate of JWA technology remains moderate (46.67%). Factors significantly influencing adoption include education level, land area, knowledge, and farmers' attitudes. In conclusion, JWA represents an effective and environmentally friendly alternative for disease control. A comprehensive extension strategy is necessary to enhance JWA adoption among farmers.

Abstract

Tambaksari village still faces the problem of organic waste management, mainly due to the lack of an efficient treatment system and the lack of public awareness of the importance of waste management.  If the village is to become a tourist spot, environmental sustainability must be considered.  To address this issue, local people were provided with training on how to decompose organic waste using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae.  This program employed a participatory action research (PAR) approach, which actively involved the community in the process, from surveys and group discussions to implementation, which included the creation and utilization of household-scale biopond. To assess the effectiveness of the material presentation, an evaluation was conducted through a pre-test and post-test.  The results showed a significant increase in participants' understanding, with an average score increase of 21.25%. This program not only provides solutions to waste problems but also encourages the creation of a new culture of sustainable environmental management at the local level.

Abstract

The agricultural sector remains the backbone of the rural economy in Indonesia, including in Sambirampak Kidul Village. The distribution of income generated from the agricultural sector plays a crucial role in determining the level of welfare, economic equality, and social stability of rural communities. This study aims to analyze the role of income distribution in the agricultural sector and its impact on the socioeconomic conditions of the people of Sambirampak Kidul Village. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with landowners, farm laborers, village officials, and community leaders, supported by field observations and documentation. The results indicate that the agricultural sector contributes significantly to village income, but income distribution remains unequal due to differences in land ownership, profit-sharing systems, and access to capital and agricultural technology. This inequality impacts the level of welfare between households. Therefore, farmer empowerment policies and programs are needed to encourage a more equitable and sustainable income distribution.
