Abstract

Background: A mask is a protective device that covers the mouth and nose to minimize direct transmission of infectious agents according to relevant standards. The use of masks is a fundamental non-pharmacological intervention and has proven to be effective as a barrier to transmission of viruses that cause several respiratory diseases, one of which is Coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The use of masks has been shown to have a significant protective effect, and is effective in reducing the risk and cases of COVID-19 infection. In addition to having a positive impact, the use of masks as one of the personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent transmission and infection of COVID-19, also has a negative impact, because it causes several changes in the skin that will increase the occurrence of problems on the skin, especially in areas covered by mask. Objective: To determine the effect of the duration of using masks during the COVID-19 pandemic with the incidence of acne among students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah North Sumatra (FK UMSU) batch 2018. Methods: Analytical with cross sectional study approach, sampling method using purposive sampling technique. The data of this study were obtained from primary data using a questionnaire instrument and facial physical examination. Data analysis using Chi Square Fisher Exact test. Results: The results showed that the duration of using a mask for onethree hours, foureight hours, and more than eight hours was associated with the incidence of acne in FK UMSU students batch 2018 sequentially on 30 respondents (85.7%), 34 respondents ( 94.4%), and to 4 respondents (80%). The results of the bivariate analysis between the length of use of masks and the incidence of acne in FK UMSU students class 2018 was p = 0.260 (P0.05). Conclusion: There is no significant effect between the duration of using a mask and the incidence of acne in the 2018 UMSU Medical Faculty students.

Abstract

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and coronary heart disease are diseases that have several common risk factors, one of which is age and smoking habits. Research conducted by Enriguez et al. reported that CHD patients with COPD had a significantly increased risk of death after 1 year compared to patients with COPD. without COPD, meaning that finding the right diagnosis and appropriate treatment for CHD patients can improve the patient's quality of life and possibly reduce the mortality rate in CHD patients. outpatient treatment at the cardiology outpatient clinic, Haji Adam Malik Hospital, Medan. Results: After examining the history, questionnaire, and post-bronchodilator spirometry, the proportion of COPD patients in CHD patients was 27.50%. Conclusion: This study of the proportion of COPD in patients with coronary heart disease is quite high as much as 27.50%, so it is necessary for clinicians to carry out pulmonary function examinations in CHD patients, especially those who have risk factors for COPD so that clinicians can determine the appropriate management for the patient.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Low back pain (LBP) is the most common musculoskeletal problem worldwide and is associated with disabilities that interfere with daily activities. One of the options for LBP therapy that is currently developing is cupping therapy. This study aims to determine the effect of cupping therapy on the pain scale and quality of life in patients with non-specific LBP.METHODS: This research used a comparative analysis design. The research was carried out by observation, with a cohort study approach. The research subjects were 14 people who were taken by consecutive sampling method. Data were analyzed using paired t-test or the Wilcoxon test.RESULTS: Wilcoxon's test showed a significant change on the pain scale (p=0.001). Through the Wilcoxon test, it was found that only physical function (p0.001) and pain (p=0.001) had significant changes in quality of life, and through paired t-test, only general health had significant differences (p=0.004).CONCLUSION:Cupping therapy significantly affects changes in pain scale, but not on the overall quality of life.

Abstract

Introduction: Dyspepsia is a collection of symptoms in the form of pain or discomfort centered in the upper abdomen. Discomfort specifically includes an immediate sense of fullness, burning, bloating in the upper abdomen, and nausea. Symptoms that arise due to various factors such as lifestyle smoking, alcohol, excess weight, stress, anxiety, and stress are relevant to dyspepsia. Objectives: To determine the severity of stress in patients with functional dyspepsia compared to organic dyspepsia at H. Adam Malik Medan Hospital. Methods: It is observational analytical research and is conducted witha cross-sectional design. The study sample was selected randomly, samplingpatients who met the criteria until the required number of samples were met, and 52 people obtained the sample. The data is analyzed withthe Exact Fisher test. Results: There is a relationship between patients who experience stress with the occurrence of Functional Dyspepsia. In normal people, organic dyspepsia is higher than functional dyspepsia.

Abstract

Introduction Objectives : Double J ureteral stents (DJ stent) have become one of the most basic and valuable tools in the urological practice. Insertion of DJ stent provide direct drainage from the kidney to the bladder without the need for external diversion. The indications for insertion of stents into the urinary tract has expended significantly for oncology also non-oncology case. This study was designed to observe the indication and insertion metode of DJ ureteral stenting in Department of Urology, Medical faculty of Airlangga University dr. Soetomo Hospital, Surabaya, from January 2012 to December 2015.AIM: The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of patients with perirenal abscess and their management.Materials and Methods : Retrospective-Descriptive Study was conducted at Department of Urology, Medical faculty of Airlangga University dr. Soetomo Hospital, Surabaya from January 2012 to December 2015 with total number of 836 patients who underwent DJ ureteral stenting. Additional analysis was done for factors affecting indication, age, sex, and insertion methods. Results : Majority of the patients 829 (99,2%) were adults between 17 to 81 years with mean age 47 years old with male to female ratio was. 1:1,3. Majority of insertion methods was with endourology 748 (89 %) and open surgical 88 (11 %), The most common indication for DJ ureteral stenting was urinary tract stone disease (kidney: 130, ureter: 315, kidney and ureter: 80) total 525 patients(63 %), and followed by oncology case 254 patients (30 %), stenosis (ureter: 19, UVJ: 3, UPJ: 16) total 38 patients (5 %) dan neglected DJ stent 19 patients(2 %). The most common cause of DJ ureteral stenting for male was urinary tract stone disease 201 patients (38,2 %), and the most common cause of DJ ureteral stenting for female was oncology case 37 patients (93,4 %).Conclusion : Majority of the patients that performed DJ ureteral stenting 829 (99,2%) were adults with male to female ratio was. 1:1,3. Majority of insertion methods of DJ stents was with endourology. The most common indication for DJ ureteral stenting was urinary tract stone disease and followed by oncology case.
