Abstract

The availability of pedestrian bridge facilities is very necessary for the safety of pedestrian crossings in minimizing the risk of accidents. One of the pedestrian bridge facilities in Kupang City is on Jl. Ahmad Yani District. Old town. The level of feasibility and use of this footbridge is considered inadequate so it is necessary to evaluate the feasibility and factors of use of this footbridge. The method used is the method for determining crossing facilities according to Bina Marga standards to determine the suitability of pedestrian bridge facilities and the AHP method for determining factors in the use of pedestrian bridge. The results of the pedestrian bridge’s feasibility analysis show that the facilities required according to the calculation results are a zebra crossing with school safety zone (ZoSS) equipment, whereas based on a geometric review of the pedestrian bridge the safety and comfort aspects do not meet the requirements. The results of the analysis of respondents' answers regarding factors in using pedestrian bridge showed that 89% of respondents used pedestrian bridge for trial and error reasons and 50% of respondents answered that they did not use pedestrian bridge s because of construction constraints. Using AHP analysis, the factor that most influences the use of footbridges is the comfort factor (distance from the center of activity) with a distribution weight of 50%, followed by the comfort factor (lighting) with a distribution weight of 32%, then the safety factor (roof availability) with a distribution weight of 12% and finally the safety factor (bridge construction) with a distribution weight of 6%.

Abstract

The development of the Aerotropolis area in Kulon Progo Regency causes frequent changes in agricultural land use to residential areas, hotels, restaurants, and other infrastructure. The excessive rate of conversion of agricultural land will have a negative impact on Kulon Progo Regency. Therefore, it is necessary to know the factors causing changes in agricultural land use and their impact on LP2B areas, residences, and tourism. The research method used is descriptive-analytical with statistical data; observations of situational conditions and the results of interviews regarding the problem being studied will be analyzed and then explained more specifically and in depth. The results of the analysis show that the phenomenon of land conversion in Kulon Regency is influenced by internal factors, namely the strategic location of agricultural land and its proximity to public facilities. The productivity of the agricultural sector has decreased due to difficult farmer regeneration, which causes economic factors to emerge. Apart from that, it is also influenced by external factors, namely increasing population growth, increasing development of the trade and services sector, the COVID-19 pandemic, and government policies that facilitate the conversion of agricultural land. The impact is that land and agricultural productivity are decreasing while the area of residential areas and the tourism sector are increasing. As a result, the GDP growth rate in the agricultural sector decreased, while the accommodation and food and drink (tourism) sector and the service sector increased. This trend has the potential to reduce the implementation of LP2B in Kulon Progo Regency. Recommendations that need to be made are strengthening government policies regarding the protection of LP2B and the involvement of many parties from the community, private sector, NGOs (Non-Government Organizations), and local governments regarding the implementation of LP2B

Abstract

Abstract

Nigeria’s environmental sector currently face a significant funding gap. Nigeria has great prospects when it comes to Resort Designs thanks to the diverse landscape, beautiful scenery and many destinations with historic significance. Unfortunately, this is not the case and hence this pose to highlight major problems in Nigeria and possible solutions. The goal of this study is to ascertain the best ways to include soft landscape aspects into resort designs to enhance visitor appeal. In this sense, resorts are independent businesses that aim to provide most of a visitor's needs on the property, including food, drink, housing, sports, entertainment, and shopping. To test the hypothesis that soft landscape elements integrated in resort designs leads to an improved psychological approach on vacationers on such structures, a primary and secondary survey would be carried out to factor out certain data to achieve my aim. Respondents would be randomly divided into two conditions (the vacationers and Staff of several resorts) and asked to respond to an interview guide material. Responses would be concluded and analyzed for my findings using percentages to develop a data to consider for my proposed design. The results gotten from my analysis would be the governing factor to give an insight on how best the integration of soft landscape elements in resort design can be designed. On this basis a good design should therefore be proposed to ensure a proper resort design after proper research and considerations.

Abstract

The teaching of architecture as a course of study in a Nigerian Institutions dates back to the 1960s’. Although slight changes were being effected in the ensuing years, the curriculum on architectural education has largely remained the same. With the advent of globalization in more recent times however, architecture has been presented with new opportunities, challenges and trends. This paper identifies one of such contemporary issues as the green building concept. The concept, developed as a reaction to global outcry on the negative impact of buildings on the environment, imbibes eco-friendliness as its prime design philosophy. This paper however observes that although the green building concept currently attracts a tremendous amount of attention at the global level, the concept has not been commensurately reflected in the curriculum of architectural education in Nigeria. The paper therefore recommends a review of the curriculum to meet the new challenges and opportunities been presented by the green building concept. This it believes will keep architectural education in Nigeria abreast with an issue of current global interest and consequently enhance the global relevance of the Nigerian graduate architect.

Abstract

In Sabu Raijua, the more than 200-year-old hydraulic mission just began to demonstrate its dynamics in 2011. This study, which employs the literature review method and field survey, discusses the hydraulic mission and examines the challenges associated with evaporation for farm pond, also known as embung (in Indonesia), in Sabu Raijua. According to the data search findings, the government constructed large and small embungs in 230 locations between 2011 and 2018 with funding assistance from the district and the central governments. The presence of a large number ponds—nearly four times as many as kelurahans or villages—seems to be a blessing of aridity for this region. However, the mission still has to deal with socioeconomic issues like a petition against the construction of the Guriola reservoir, a series of droughts, and the threat of evaporation. All of Sabu Raijua's reservoirs had a loss of water of more than 50% in the fifth year of drought since 2015. Low rainfall is a contributing factor, although it is not the only one. According to the analysis of climate data, Sabu Raijua has evaporation risks from April through November, peaking in August, during both normal and below normal rainy periods.

Abstract

Digital design and technology are increasingly playing an important role in the preservation of cultural heritage in Indonesia, along with the ongoing digital transformation in various cultural institutions. This phenomenon presents challenges in selecting the right technology and opportunities to create more inclusive, immersive, and contextual digital experiences. The main issue raised is the absence of a systematic approach in the application of digital technology that is in accordance with the characteristics and needs of each type of heritage, such as colonial buildings, traditional buildings, and temple buildings. This study aims to examine the contribution of design approaches in developing digital solutions for conservation and evaluate the suitability of various digital technology platforms in the context of the three categories of architectural heritage. The method used is a literature study with a comparative analysis of the application of digital technology in a number of cultural heritage sites in Indonesia. The results of the study show that each category of building has different technical, narrative, and visual needs, thus requiring a specific and targeted technological approach. A design approach integrated with software engineering principles has been proven to strengthen the effectiveness of conservation and expand the reach of education and public appreciation of cultural heritage through digital media.
