Abstract

In an increasingly competitive industrial environment, effective maintenance strategies are critical to ensure optimal machine performance and minimize downtime. This report focuses on the implementation of preventive maintenance in the cold saw area at PT. KBK, a steel production company. Preventive maintenance procedures were carried out to sustain machine reliability, particularly focusing on components such as the roll table, bolt coupling motor translation, sliding rails, and hydraulic motors. The report outlines the preventive maintenance schedule, inspection processes, and key findings during the maintenance period. The most frequently encountered issue was the deterioration of the saw blade, affecting cutting quality and operational efficiency. Contributing factors to these issues include human error, material hardness, improper maintenance methods, and machine age. A fishbone diagram analysis was used to determine root causes of failures, highlighting areas for improvement in maintenance practices. The study concludes that consistent preventive maintenance is essential to reduce machine failures, enhance productivity, and improve product quality. Recommendations are provided to enhance the maintenance process, including increased use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and more stringent inspection protocols.

Abstract

The effectiveness possessed by manufacturing machines is a parameter used to determine the performance of a company's manufacturing process. Effectiveness can be shown in the form of percentages as effective as a manufacturing process is carried out. Effectiveness can be a reference for companies in the implementation of production by evaluating charts of production that are considered less effective and do not meet standards. The factors that affect the effectiveness of a production machine can be seen in the availability or capability, quality, and performance where in this article the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) method which has a production period of one month is used to get the effectiveness of the production process carried out. The results obtained in this study were 88.53% in the first week of proposition, 94.63% in the second week of production, and 91.58% in the third and last week of production.

Abstract

Distillation is a water purification process through evaporation and condensation. Research on solar distillation was developed using the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) method to obtain an overview of the transmission of solar radiation heat by the cover glass for variations in the angle of the glass inclination of 100, 200 and 300. The water height in the basin is 100 mm. The simulation results show that the heating process with variations in the angle of the cover glass affects the distillation results. The smaller angle of the cover glass inclination, the higher heat flux entering the basin so that the evaporation process becomes higher which ultimately increases the amount of distillate water production produced. The highest heat flux entering the distillation system was achieved by the system with a cover glass inclination angle of 100 with a value of 388.525 W / m2, while the lowest was at an angle of 300 with a value of 379.792 W / m2. In addition, the highest distillate production was obtained on the cover glass with an inclination angle of 10 ° of 1.078 cc. For operational hours at 13.00 WIB and simulation time 180 seconds.

Abstract

PT ABC is a wheat flour production company in Indonesia. Many sophisticated machines are used in the wheat flour production process, one of which is the roll mill machine. In its operation, the roll mill machine uses bearings to support the roll when it rotates and reduce friction that occurs so that the roll can rotate smoothly and avoid wear. If the bearing does not function properly, it can damage the machine and other components. Therefore, to predict damage to the bearing, it is necessary to analyze how long the bearing lifetime is. In the implementation of this Practical Work, research will be conducted to determine the lifetime and types of damage that occur to the bearings used so that solutions can be found to prevent damage to the machine and other components. Based on the results of calculations in this study, the life of the spherical roller bearing in the roll mill machine using the basic rating life method shows that the bearing life obtained is 36,696,343 operational hours, while the time required to re-lubricate the spherical roller bearing is every 9800 hours with the amount of lubricant given is 17.6 grams.

Abstract

This paper explores the concept of digitalization in critical sailing lines to manage ship-generated waves (SGW), with a focus on fishing boats. Indonesia, as a maritime nation, faces challenges due to the environmental impact of SGW, such as riverbank erosion, habitat disruption, and damage to marine infrastructure. The proposed digital framework integrates real-time environmental data, including tidal conditions, river currents, and water depth, with vessel parameters like speed and GPS tracking. This system aims to provide accessible information through websites and smartphone applications, enabling safer and more efficient navigation. The results highlight the importance of digitalization in enhancing maritime safety, reducing environmental damage, and improving operational efficiency for fishermen and port operators.
