Abstract

Religious radicalism in Indonesia has emerged as an urgent issue in recent years, influenced by various political, social, economic, and religious factors. Although Indonesia is known for its diversity, the increase in radical activities is highly concerning. Key factors contributing to the spread of radicalism include political instability, social conflict, economic inequality, and religious extremism. The rapid dissemination of radical ideologies through social media and the internet further exacerbates the problem. Cirebon, a city in West Java, mirrors national trends with its own specific challenges. Political dissatisfaction, economic disparity, and radical religious teachings contribute to this issue. The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) in Cirebon plays a crucial role in carrying out religious deradicalization through programs that promote moderation and religious tolerance. Kemenag's initiatives include interfaith dialogue, religious education reform, and close collaboration with law enforcement. These efforts aim to counter radical influences and foster a peaceful and diverse society. Despite the challenges, Kemenag's proactive measures and local-global collaboration are essential in mitigating the impacts of radicalism, ensuring security, and promoting social stability.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the concept of gender equality in hadith, with the goal of providing a clearer and more comprehensive understanding of how hadith regulates the relationship between men and women in various life contexts, whether in family, social, or professional domains. This study employs a qualitative method with a content analysis approach. The primary data sources are collections of hadith relevant to the topic of gender equality, gathered from various trusted hadith compilations. The analytical techniques used include interpretation of hadith texts, comparison with related Quranic verses, and review of classical and contemporary scholars' views on this issue. The results of the study indicate that hadith generally supports the principle of gender equality in many aspects, although there are some hadiths that require historical and sociocultural context to be comprehensively understood. These hadiths, if interpreted correctly and contextually, show that Islam provides equal rights and responsibilities between men and women and encourages respect and gender justice. However, the interpretation and implementation of gender equality in Muslim societies are often influenced by local cultural and traditional factors, which sometimes deviate from the true essence of Islamic teachings. This study highlights the importance of a critical and contextual approach in understanding hadith texts to support efforts in achieving gender equality that is just and in accordance with Islamic values.

Abstract

This study examines the role of gender mainstreaming in the implementation of entrepreneurship training programs conducted by the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Office in Tanjungpinang City. The program aims to empower women, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds, by enhancing their skills, fostering self-confidence, and promoting gender equality. This qualitative study utilizes interviews, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques, with training participants and program facilitators serving as primary informants. The findings reveal that the program integrates gender mainstreaming principles by providing practical skill training, such as sewing and baking, alongside knowledge in digital marketing, financial management, and risk management. The initiative has been effective in equipping participants to manage micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), while also enhancing their economic independence and family welfare. However, the study also identifies challenges, such as participants’ entrenched patriarchal mindsets and limited support from families or communities. To address these barriers, the program emphasizes community-based approaches and includes follow-up mentoring to ensure sustainability. Overall, this study highlights the significant positive impact of entrepreneurship training on women’s empowerment and underscores its strategic role in advancing gender equality and local economic development.
