Abstract

In this paper, we will study the reliefs of temples in East Java, where the temples were built during the reign of the Majapahit Empire. The reliefs depicted contain elements of stories that were popular at that time, for example the stories of Sri Tanjung, Panji, Bubuksah and Gagangaking, and Jarum Atat. In addition to the reliefs of these temples, the ancient Javanese inscriptions mentioned the types of batik cloth used by the people at that time. In East Java, two reliefs of the temple were successfully constructed, namely; Pendopo Penataran temples in the eleventh - eighth centuries and the sixteenth - sixteenth century Kendalisodo temple. In the two temples, the reliefs of women are depicted wearing different clothes, both in terms of shape and how to wear them.

Abstract

In this paper, we will provide an overview of the development of Islam in the interior of southern Java and some Islamic cultural heritage, in the form of archaeological and historical remains that are thought to have existed since the beginning of the development of Islam in Java, (XV - XVI centuries AD). This is intended to prove that Islam, at the beginning of its development, also occurred in mountainous and hinterland areas.

Abstract

The existence of Kauman Village cannot be separated from the history and establishment of the Islamic Mataram Kingdom in the last period (starting from the Hamengku Buwana dynasty). In addition, Kauman is a part of the Mataram Kingdom bureaucracy. Several years after this kingdom was founded, it began to develop a place of worship (mosque). Finally, the building of this large mosque stood about 18 years after Prince Mangkubumi was inaugurated as a sultan with the title Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwana I. After this mosque was established, the kingdom then placed a royal ruler, a "penghulu". This leader is in charge of taking care of the operation of the mosque. This Penghulu occupies his house which is located north of the mosque. Later this place (home and office) was known as "pengulon". Thus pengulon this means the house and the environment where a royal ruler is located.

Abstract

In line with the development of Indonesian archaeology, the interest in archaeological research is not only focused on monumental, but also on non-monumental remains such as the pottery. This is evidenced by the many studies on pottery in the form of articles, theses and dissertations. As a result of the many researches on pottery, there are problems that need to be solved, especially the problem of the benefits of the study of past pottery in relation to the development of today's pottery handicrafts. In turn, the results of this development can be used as an asset that supports the tourism industry. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to outline the results of the study of past pottery and traditional pottery.

Abstract

The variety of types and the number of metal crust findings indicate that at the site there has been a metalworking activity, this is also supported by the variation in the composition of each mixture. The variation of the mixture that is made shows that the people who support the Pasir Angin culture have mastered knowledge of metal alloys. The technique used in the manufacture of bronze artifacts generally still uses the casting technique, with molds made of a mixture of sand and clay, while the forging technique is thought to be still at an experimental stage.

Abstract

In discussing Yogyakarta in terms of urban archeology, it should not be separated from the ancient cities around it, because the city of Yogyakarta is one of the chains of development of cities in Java, especially in the interior. As is known, the capital of the Mataram-Islam kingdom was first in Kota Gede. This first capital functioned until the death of Sultan Agung. Then his successor, namely Susuhunan Amangkurat I, moved the capital to Plered until he escaped from the palace which was then occupied by Trunajaya. In 1680 Susuhunan Amangkurat II founded the city of Kartasura which functioned until 1745, when Susuhunan Pakubuwana II moved to Surakarta.

Abstract

The following will review some of the cultural data found in Sulawesi in connection with the search for the base area of the culture brought by the Austronesian people. This paper is intended to reveal the position of the root of this culture. In addition, the problem in this paper is how important is the Sulawesi region in the migration of the Austronesian people? and based on the migration theory, it will be asked whether the Sulawesi area is the area of origin or the destination of the migrants? These two questions will be tried to answer based on archaeological data.
