Sanus Medical Journal is a peer-reviewed medical and health journal published periodically every six months. Sanus Medical Journal publishes descriptive, analytical, and experimental studies, reviews, systematic reviews, case reports, letters, and editorials in the fields of Medicine, Health, Medical and Health Education, and Islamic Medicine. The scope of Sanus Medical Journal goes beyond the boundaries of discussions in the fields of clinical medicine and health in general, by providing new insights into etiologies, determinants, distribution, management and prevention of diseases in individuals and communities. Sanus Medical Journal attempts to meet the demands of rapid developments in information and medical and health research by committing to reduce the range of online publications to around six weeks after the submission of a manuscript. Articles will be published online in advance, and the printed version included in the next scheduled edition. Sanus Medical Journal will continue to strive to improve its scientific reputation by publishing quality articles reviewed by experts who are highly competent in their respective fields. Sanus Medical Journal greatly appreciates the contributions of authors from related disciplines. Manuscripts can be sent via email to: smjournal@uhamka.ac.id or via the website https://journal.uhamka.ac.id/index.php/smj.

Abstract

High intensity physical activity affects Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) while low physical activity that leads to less body movement affects oxidative energy reserves. This study aims to determine the relationship between sedentary physical activity and the menstrual cycle of students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. HAMKA (UHAMKA). The research design was an observational analytic survey with a cross sectional approach. The sample size was determined by the Slovin formula, which was 92 subjects. The results showed that most of the female students (95.65%) with sedentary physical activity, and female students with abnormal menstrual cycle disorders (polymenorrhea) were 31.52% oligomenorrhea 11.96%, hypomenorrhea 64.13%, while hypermenorrhea was only 3.27%. There is no significant relationship between the level of sedentary physical activity with menstrual cycle disorders.

Abstract

This cross-sectional study sought to determine the correlation between oxygen saturation and peak flow meter readings, taking into account hemoglobin levels. Participants aged 55 years and over were examined using direct measurement methods, with hemoglobin measured via the strip test method, and oxygen saturation and peak flow meter values assessed using a pulse oximeter and peak flow meter, respectively. Analysis of the collected data from 12 subjects, averaged 63 years old, revealed a significant correlation between oxygen saturation (average 96.6%) and peak flow volume (average 223.3 mL/mnt) (r=0.727, p=0.007). The findings suggest that this relationship is more potent in individuals with respiratory disorders or under certain environmental risk factors. Nonetheless, in healthier contexts, the correlation may be weaker or absent, emphasizing the need for further research to enhance the management of respiratory and lung disorders

Abstract

The research objectives in detail are to determine the risk factors for mild cognitive impairment in the elderly and understanding the factors that affect the majority of mild cognitive impairment in the elderly. This research is an observational case-control study and the research method used is multi-variant data analysis and epidemiological information. The results between methods describe the effect of hypertension and physical activity have big influence on mild cognitive. Conclusion The factors that most influence mild cognitive impairment are hypertension and physical activity

Abstract

Abstract

This study examined the correlation of external risk factors to the incidence of AOM in toddlers and preschoolers. This research used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach and data processing uses univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis. Of the 61 research subjects, the majority of toddlers with AOM were 1-3 years old, 32 children (52.5%), 33 children (54.1%) were female, 37 children (60.7%) had perforation stage. 52 children (85.2%) received exclusive breastfeeding. The results showed that the four variables, including breastfeeding duration, use of pacifiers, PCV vaccinations, and history of ARI (Acute Respiratory Infection), correlated to incidences of acute otitis media. PCV vaccination and history of ARI are the most influencing variables with p-values of 0.024 and 0.006. There is a relationship between external risk factors and the incidence of AOM in toddlers, where the most influential variables are the administration of the PCV vaccine and a history of upper respiratory infection. The researcher of this study suggests at least three doses of PCV vaccination for children at the ages 2, 4, and 6 months, alongside the protection from triggers of ARI to prevent the occurrence of AOM.
