Abstract

Every teacher faces challenges in maintaining discipline and students' character, which can affect the effectiveness of teaching and learning in the class. This study deepens the obstacles educators encounter while facing student character and student indiscipline. Teachers will implement an effective learning system and refer to the teacher himself by carrying out a role that can build student discipline and character, utilizing a qualitative approach, by distributing questionnaires to teachers and students at the elementary school level, where elementary school education is the most basic education. So, the challenge teachers face is how teachers can shape students' character according to the basis of education in Indonesia. Teachers must be able to play a role in all fields, facilitators, motivators, inspirators, etc., because the teacher's attitude and behavior are real examples that are easy for students to imitate. This study can refer to how a teacher changes strategy to improve and build disciplined character in students.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of learning motivation on the academic outcomes of fifth-grade students in mathematics at SDN Ciodeng, Cigudeg District, Bogor Regency. This study is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students who have not yet met the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) and the lack of motivation for learning. This is a quantitative study using a survey method with regression techniques. The sample in this study consisted of 31 students from class V.A. The instruments used in this study were a questionnaire to measure learning motivation and a test to measure students' learning outcomes in mathematics. Data analysis was conducted through validity, reliability, normality, linearity tests, and simple regression analysis using SPSS 22.0 software. The results of the study indicate that the students' learning motivation is in the high category, with an average score of 102.77, while the average learning outcome in mathematics is 82.58. The simple regression test results show a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a positive and significant effect of learning motivation on mathematics learning outcomes. Therefore, the higher the students' learning motivation, the higher their mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to: (1) analyze the urgency of loving education in developing students' discipline character; (2) describe the concept of loving education from the perspective of Prof. Arif Rachman; and (3) formulate implementation strategies for loving education in fostering student discipline at SDIP. This study employed a descriptive-qualitative design with a case study approach. The research site was purposively selected based on the following criteria: (a) an A-accredited Islamic elementary school, (b) an integrated character development program, and (c) the implementation of a loving education approach. The study was conducted over six months (June–December 2024). Informants consisted of 1 principal, 1 vice principal for curriculum affairs, 6 homeroom teachers, 10 parents, and 12 students from grades 4–6, selected through purposive sampling with inclusion criteria: teachers with a minimum of 2 years of service, parents actively involved in school activities, and students with varying levels of discipline. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured in-depth interviews, and documentation study. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing with verification. Data trustworthiness was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results indicated that the integration of loving education through five main strategies empathetic communication, teacher role modeling, positive reinforcement, dialogical approach, and school–parent synergy successfully cultivated discipline based on students' internal awareness. Indicators of success were evident in: improved punctuality in attendance, compliance with school rules without direct supervision, independent task completion, and a reduction in violations requiring punitive measures.
