Abstract

The growing use of performance feedback systems in Indonesian organizations has increased the need for valid instruments that can assess how employees respond to feedback. However, validated Indonesian-language measures of employees’ receptivity to feedback remain limited. This study aimed to adapt and validate the Feedback Orientation Scale (FOS) for use in the Indonesian employee context. The FOS assesses an individual’s general tendency to receive, value, use, and feel accountable for feedback through four dimensions: Utility, Accountability, Social Awareness, and Feedback Self-Efficacy. The adaptation process followed the International Test Commission Guidelines for Translating and Adapting Tests and included translation, expert review, readability testing, item analysis, reliability testing, exploratory factor analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis. A total of 326 employees from various organizations in Indonesia participated in the study. Item analysis showed that one negatively worded item in the Accountability dimension had a low item-rest correlation and was therefore removed. The final Indonesian version consisted of 19 items. The psychometric findings indicated that all retained items demonstrated adequate item discrimination and that the four dimensions showed satisfactory internal consistency. Confirmatory factor analysis further indicated that the original four-factor structure provided a better fit than the alternative two-factor model identified through exploratory analysis. Overall, the adapted Indonesian FOS demonstrated acceptable validity and reliability for assessing feedback orientation among employees. The findings support the use of the 19-item Indonesian FOS in research and organizational practice, particularly in studies and interventions related to performance management, coaching, employee development, and feedback-based learning in diverse Indonesian workplaces.

Abstract

This study evaluates the financial performance of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk during 2019–2022, covering the pre-pandemic, pandemic, and early economic recovery periods. A descriptive quantitative design was applied using secondary data from audited annual financial statements published through the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Financial performance was assessed through three indicators: quick ratio (bank-specific liquidity), debt-to-asset ratio (funding structure), and return on assets (profitability). The average quick ratio was 28.59%, classified as healthy, though it declined consistently from 49.89% in 2019 to 14.02% in 2022, indicating weakening capacity to cover short-term obligations. The average debt-to-asset ratio reached 82.14%, remaining relatively stable and reflecting deposit-based funding common in banking. Return on assets averaged 2.82%, indicating very healthy profitability temporarily declining in 2020 due to pandemic pressures, but improving in 2021 and recovering strongly in 2022. This study provides an integrated time-series interpretation of liquidity, funding structure, and profitability, demonstrating that strong earnings recovery coexisted with declining immediate liquidity coverage and persistently high liabilities. The continued decline in the quick ratio highlights the need for careful liquidity management despite resilient profitability. This research contributes empirical evidence on banking resilience during crisis periods, offering actionable insights for management and regulators. Future studies should incorporate additional indicators, longer observation periods, and comparative analysis with other major Indonesian banks.

Abstract

This study explores how transformational leadership supports teacher performance at SMP Negeri 2 Muara Rupit, a public junior high school in South Sumatra, Indonesia. A qualitative case study design was used to examine leadership practices within their organizational and instructional context. Data were obtained from 16 purposively selected participants, comprising the principal, three vice principals, and twelve teachers, through semi-structured interviews, direct observations, and document analysis. The data were analyzed interactively through condensation, coding, thematic categorization, data display, and continuous verification. The findings show that the principal enacted four interconnected dimensions of transformational leadership. Idealized influence strengthened punctuality, responsibility, and instructional preparedness through consistent role modeling. Inspirational motivation increased teachers’ enthusiasm and commitment through vision communication, encouragement, and recognition. Intellectual stimulation supported pedagogical experimentation, technology integration, and collaborative professional learning through supervision and development activities. Individualized consideration increased teachers’ confidence and reflective practice through mentoring and constructive feedback. These practices were associated with a more disciplined, collaborative, and innovation-oriented work culture, although the pace of change varied among teachers. The study contributes a process-based explanation of how transformational leadership operates in a regional Indonesian school and highlights practical priorities for principal development, teacher mentoring, and school-based professional learning.

Abstract

The strategic imperative of airspace sovereignty necessitates robust air power development, yet existing literature remains fragmented across technological, operational, diplomatic, and institutional silos, hindering a holistic understanding of effective strategic formulation. This study aims to synthesize thematic patterns and develop a comprehensive typology of air power development strategies through a systematic review of contemporary scholarship. Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a systematic literature review was conducted on peer-reviewed journal articles indexed in the Scopus database and supplementary sources. After rigorous screening against predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, 12 studies published between 2017 and 2025 were selected for thematic synthesis. The analysis reveals four dominant thematic patterns, capability-driven, technology-centric, diplomacy-oriented, and institutional governance factors, which are consolidated into four strategic typologies: capability-based, technology-focused, diplomacy-oriented, and hybrid strategies. The findings demonstrate a paradigmatic shift from siloed, platform-specific approaches toward integrated, multidimensional frameworks that combine military readiness, technological innovation, institutional strengthening, and international cooperation. Theoretically, this study bridges military innovation theory and the political economy of defense by offering a typological framework that clarifies strategic choices and enables cross-context comparative analysis. Practically, it provides policymakers with an adaptive roadmap for designing resilient air power strategies that balance capability modernization, technological adoption, and cooperative security to address contemporary airspace threats.

Abstract

This study investigates whether the learning outcomes differ between BIPA students taught by English Education graduates and those taught by Indonesian Education graduates. Employing a convergent mixed-methods comparative design, the study integrated quantitative achievement data with qualitative learner perceptions collected during the same instructional period. Quantitative data were obtained through a standardized Indonesian language achievement test assessing vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and sentence construction, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and an independent-samples t-test. Qualitative data were collected through five open-ended questions and analyzed thematically to explain and triangulate the quantitative findings. The results revealed a statistically significant difference in learning achievement between the two groups, with students taught by English Education graduates achieving significantly higher scores than those taught by Indonesian Education graduates (M = 81.83 vs. 57.00; t(58) = 8.318, p < .001). Qualitative findings reinforced these results by indicating that learners in the English Education group perceived clearer instructional explanations, greater opportunities for classroom interaction, and more supportive feedback, which helped explain their higher achievement. These findings suggest that teachers’ academic backgrounds are associated with different instructional orientations that influence BIPA learning outcomes. The study provides empirical evidence to inform BIPA teacher recruitment, professional development, and teacher education policies aimed at strengthening instructional quality in Indonesian language programs for foreign learners.

Abstract

Following the enactment of Permendikbudristek No. 12 of 2024, which establishes English as a compulsory subject in Indonesian elementary schools, increasing attention has been directed toward the pedagogical readiness of non-English major teachers who are expected to teach English despite limited specialized preparation. While previous studies have primarily examined teacher competence and classroom challenges, limited research has explored how pedagogical readiness is experienced and enacted by non-English major teachers within this new policy context. This study aimed to explore the pedagogical readiness of non-English major teachers in teaching English to young learners at private elementary schools in Bengkulu City. Using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations involving ten non-English major teachers. The findings revealed that pedagogical readiness was manifested across seven pedagogical competencies, although considerable variation existed among participants. Teachers encountered challenges related to English language proficiency, implementing child-centered instruction, lesson planning, classroom interaction, and formative assessment. Their readiness was influenced by individual factors, including teaching experience and self-efficacy, as well as contextual factors such as professional development opportunities and institutional support. This study contributes to the growing literature on teacher readiness by demonstrating that pedagogical readiness is a dynamic, context-dependent construct that extends beyond pedagogical competence and is shaped by the interaction between teachers’ professional capabilities and their instructional environment.

Abstract

Indonesia possesses abundant tuna resources and benefits from preferential tariff facilities under the Indonesia–Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA). However, the export volume of Indonesian processed tuna to Japan continues to fluctuate despite tariff reductions and increasingly stringent sanitary regulations imposed by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW). This study aims to examine the effects of IJEPA tariff preferences and MHLW sanitary regulations on the export volume of Indonesian processed tuna exported to Japan. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using monthly secondary time-series data from January 2020 to December 2024, comprising 60 observations. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression following classical assumption tests, including normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation, followed by partial, simultaneous, and coefficient of determination analyses. The findings reveal that neither IJEPA tariff preferences nor MHLW sanitary regulations significantly affect export volume, either individually or simultaneously. The novelty of this study lies in integrating tariff preferences and sanitary regulations within a single empirical model interpreted through the Blue Economy perspective. Practically, the findings recommend improving logistics efficiency, food safety compliance, and fisheries governance. This study contributes to international trade literature by demonstrating that structural factors beyond trade policy instruments play a more decisive role in sustaining Indonesia’s processed tuna exports to the Japanese market.

Abstract

This study examines the mediating role of Breadth of Service Usage in the relationships between User Experience, User Trust, and Customer Satisfaction in the context of the Sumut Mobile application, a regional digital banking platform in Indonesia. Digital banking has become increasingly important in supporting financial inclusion; however, customer satisfaction depends on both the quality of users’ experiences and their trust in the digital banking system. Employing a quantitative associative research design, data were collected from 100 active users of the Sumut Mobile application through purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS version 4.1.4. The findings reveal that User Experience significantly influences Breadth of Service Usage (t = 3.823, p < 0.001) and Customer Satisfaction (t = 3.242, p = 0.009). Similarly, User Trust significantly affects Breadth of Service Usage (t = 5.996, p < 0.001) and Customer Satisfaction (t = 2.381, p = 0.017). Furthermore, Breadth of Service Usage significantly mediates the effects of User Experience (t = 3.417, p = 0.006) and User Trust (t = 3.521, p = 0.008) on Customer Satisfaction. These findings extend the Technology Acceptance Model literature by demonstrating that Breadth of Service Usage serves as an important mechanism through which positive user experiences and trust are translated into higher customer satisfaction. Practically, regional banks should improve user-interface design, strengthen perceptions of security and reliability, and encourage customers to utilize a broader range of digital banking features to enhance satisfaction and long-term loyalty.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate a WebQuest-assisted Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model to enhance vocational high school students’ learning motivation and learning outcomes, with self-concept serving as a moderating variable. A Research and Development (R&D) approach employing the Four-D (4D) model was adopted, involving 72 tenth-grade students from SMK Sinar Husni 1, Indonesia, assigned to experimental and control groups. Feasibility was evaluated through expert validation (material, media, and instructional design), practicality via teacher and student questionnaires, and effectiveness using Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA), with the moderating effect of self-concept examined through two-way ANOVA. Validation confirmed model feasibility (material: 77.5%; media: 75.0%; instructional design: 73.33%) and high practicality (student responses: 86.68%; teacher responses: 90%). MANOVA revealed significant improvements in learning motivation and outcomes (F = 290.084; p < .001), while two-way ANOVA demonstrated a significant interaction between self-concept and the model (F = 15.671; p < .001). This study uniquely integrates WebQuest technology with PBL and examines self-concept as a moderating variable in vocational education, an underexplored combination in existing literature. The model offers a replicable instructional framework for vocational teachers to enhance student engagement and achievement through technology-supported, problem-based strategies. This research contributes empirical evidence that the WebQuest-assisted PBL model effectively enhances vocational students’ motivation and academic outcomes, with self-concept strengthening its effectiveness, providing actionable insights for curriculum developers and educators.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the partial and simultaneous effects of Green Product Innovation and Event Marketing Attributes on the B2B Brand Positioning of PT United Tractors in Indonesia’s heavy equipment industry. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using a purposive sampling technique involving 131 mining industry professionals and exhibition visitors at Mining Expo 2025. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings reveal that Green Product Innovation has a positive and significant effect on Brand Positioning (β = 0.451; t = 4.379; p < 0.001), while Event Marketing Attributes also positively and significantly influence Brand Positioning (β = 0.397; t = 4.221; p < 0.001). Together, both variables explain 63.0% of the variance in Brand Positioning (R² = 0.630). The novelty of this study lies in extending Signaling Theory by integrating Green Product Innovation and Event Marketing Attributes to explain B2B brand positioning in Indonesia’s heavy equipment industry, a context that has received limited empirical attention. Practically, the findings suggest that heavy equipment companies should integrate sustainable product innovation with experiential exhibition strategies to strengthen market credibility and competitive positioning. This study contributes to the B2B and green marketing literature by providing empirical evidence that sustainable technological innovation and experiential event marketing jointly enhance brand positioning in industrial markets.
