Abstract

TK Negeri 01 Ambon is an early childhood education institution located in Ambon City, Maluku Province. One of the primary focuses of this school is promoting hand health through good and effective hand-washing habits. However, the institution faces a challenge: many children lack awareness about the importance of washing their hands properly. This lack of awareness can increase the risk of disease transmission, particularly in a crowded school environment. The goal of this educational initiative is to enhance children’s understanding of proper hand-washing techniques and to encourage the adoption of good hygiene practices. This, in turn, aims to reduce the incidence of infectious diseases and improve the overall health of children in Ambon City. To achieve this, the program employs interactive lectures, question-and-answer sessions, prize distribution, and direct demonstrations using video media and songs that teach proper hand-washing methods. The results indicate that community service activities centered around education on effective hand-washing, conducted through engaging and suitable methods, can boost knowledge among kindergarten children by 95%. It is hoped that this initiative will not only raise awareness but will also encourage a culture of cleanliness in the children’s daily lives, ultimately helping to prevent the spread of diseases

Abstract

Improving the quality of nursing practice is a key pillar in delivering high-quality healthcare services. Nursing care standards and guidelines based on the Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standards (SDKI), Nursing Outcomes Standards (SLKI), and Nursing Interventions Standards (SIKI) serve as essential frameworks for providing systematic, measurable, and regulation-compliant care. However, the implementation of these standards in healthcare facilities still faces challenges, including limited understanding and the absence of practical and applicable guidelines. This community service initiative aimed to develop and formulate nursing care standards and guidelines based on SDKI, SLKI, and SIKI to enhance nursing practice quality. The program was conducted at Bayung Lencir Regional General Hospital on April 23–24, 2025, through participatory training and a collaborative workshop involving practicing nurses. Evaluation methods included pre- and post-tests and participatory observation. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding of the application of the three standards, along with the development of draft operational standards and nursing care guidelines ready for clinical use. In conclusion, this activity made a valuable contribution to improving nurses’ competencies and the quality of nursing services through the development of structured, applicable standards aligned with national regulations

Abstract

Hospitalization can be a stressful experience for preschool-aged children, primarily due to limited understanding and anxiety toward the unfamiliar hospital environment. Effective therapeutic communication is essential to help children feel safer and more comfortable during treatment. This community service activity aimed to optimize nursing communication using a storytelling approach as a strategy to reduce anxiety in hospitalized preschoolers. The program was conducted at Siti Fatimah Az-Zahra Regional General Hospital, South Sumatra Province, from March 17 to 21, 2025. It involved 15 bedside nurses in the pediatric ward and 18 hospitalized preschool-aged children. The methods included education and training for nurses on age-appropriate storytelling techniques, followed by direct application with the children. Evaluation was carried out through behavioral observation of children’s anxiety levels before and after the intervention, as well as brief interviews with nurses. The results showed a noticeable reduction in anxiety expressions among most children, such as decreased crying, fearfulness, and resistance to nursing procedures. Nurses also reported improved rapport and interaction with the children through engaging and relevant stories. In conclusion, storytelling proved to be an effective, humanistic, and applicable nursing communication method for reducing hospitalization-related anxiety in preschool children, and it has the potential to be integrated into standard pediatric nursing practices

Abstract

The halal pharmaceutical industry is a crucial part of the development of the halal sector in Indonesia, particularly in ensuring that the medicinal products consumed by the public comply with Islamic sharia principles. The issue of halal and haram cannot be considered trivial because it encompasses interpersonal relationships (muamalah) and the relationship between humans and God (ibadah). This study aims to analyze and describe the process of halal drug education for Muslim youth in the Kajen area, Pekalongan, to improve health literacy based on Islamic values. Using qualitative descriptive methods, data were collected through in-depth interviews with 15 respondents, participant observation, and documentation studies. The results indicate that although Muslim youth in the area are aware of the importance of halal drug certification, challenges remain in terms of access to information, limited availability of halal-certified drugs, and a lack of ongoing educational activities. Therefore, the active participation of various parties, including government institutions, religious leaders, and the pharmaceutical industry, is needed to strengthen the halal education system and increase the availability of sharia-compliant drugs.

Abstract

Gout Arthritis merupakan penyakit radang sendi yang disebabkan karena penumpukan kristal asam urat di dalam  tubuh dalam  jangka  waktu  yang  lama. Kondisi ini terjadi karena tingginya kadar asam urat dalam darah sehingga bisa menimbulkan terjadinya nyeri secara mendadak, bengkak, kemerahan dan rasa hangat pada sendi yang terkena,  apabila  tidak  di  tangani  dengan  baik maka bisa menyebabkan terjadinya batu ginjal, kerusakan sendi permanen yang dapat menyebabkan keterbatasan gerak. Tujuan edukasi ini untuk memberikan pengetahuan serta   cara   pencegahan dan pengendalian gout arthritis kepada masyarakat. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada masyarakat sebanyak 30 orang di desa Buntembok Desa Bangket Parak. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini dengan leafleat, ceramah, diskusi dan tanya jawa. Hasil pretest menunjukkan bahwa 26,7% peserta dalam kategori baik, 33,3% dalam kategori cukup dan 40% dalam ketegori kurang setelah diberikan edukasi hasil posttest menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dengan 46,7% peserta dalam kategori baik, 43,3% dalam kategori cukup dan 10% dalam ketegori kurang sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat berupa edukasi pencegahan dan pengendalian gout arthritis di Dusun Buntembok Desa Bangket Parak tingkat pengetahuannya meningkat dan diharapkan dengan adanya kegiatan ini masyarakat bisa melakukan pengendalian dan pencegahan gout arthritis sehingga dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat akan menjaga pentingnya pola hidup sehat

Abstract

The National Health Insurance Program (JKN) by BPJS Kesehatan, as a pillar of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Indonesia, faces challenges in compliance with premium payments, particularly in the informal sector, necessitating an increase in financial literacy to ensure the sustainability of healthcare financing, especially regarding catastrophic illnesses. Therefore, improving compliance with JKN premium payments is essential, especially among informal workers. This community service activity will be conducted in areas with a high concentration of informal sector workers, such as online motorcycle taxi drivers and street vendors, over a two-month period in Sedayu, Bantul, Yogyakarta, in 2025, which includes preparation, education, and evaluation. The target of this activity is 40 informal workers registered as Independent Participants of BPJS Kesehatan from various backgrounds. Through an educational-participatory approach, this activity aims to enhance participants' awareness and ability to manage their finances as well as understand the importance of compliance with JKN premium payments. The results of this activity show an increase in the percentage of understanding regarding financial literacy and the importance of JKN premium payments. It can be concluded that financial literacy education positively impacts participants' compliance behavior

Abstract

The basis of the therapeutic relationship between nurses and patients, which aims to improve health services, is caring behavior, characterized by concern, empathy, and compassion. Developing these habits early on is very important to improve nursing students' ability to provide nursing care. Several studies show that the level of caring among nursing students and college students is still low. The purpose of this training is to improve nursing students' understanding of providing appropriate care, which they can apply when interacting with patients in hospitals. The strategies used in this activity include interactive lectures, question and answer sessions, demonstrations or hands-on practice, and the giving of gifts. Class A and Class B participated in this training for two days. Pre-test and post-test knowledge assessments were administered before and after the two-hour training session. This activity involved 24 nursing students. The average knowledge of students before the training was 10.10, and the average knowledge of students after the training was 12.60, with a p-value of = 0.000. The training results showed an increase in students' understanding of therapeutic communication through lectures, question and answer sessions, and demonstrations.

Abstract

Anxiety in preschool children during hospitalization can affect their psychological well-being, cooperation during procedures, and recovery process. This community service program aimed to implement the CITRA Module (Communication Through Interactive Therapeutic and Reflective Storytelling Approach) in nursing practice to reduce anxiety among hospitalized preschool children at Siti Khadijah Islamic Hospital Palembang. The program was conducted from July to September 2025 and involved 10 nurses as training participants and 30 preschool children as intervention recipients. The method applied was training and education combined with clinical mentoring, including therapeutic storytelling education, simulation of CITRA implementation, direct clinical practice in pediatric wards, and evaluation through descriptive observation of children’s behavior and emotional responses. The results of descriptive evaluation showed a notable improvement in nurses’ therapeutic communication skills after training and mentoring. In addition, approximately 80% of children demonstrated a decrease in anxiety indicators such as excessive crying, physical tension, and fear of procedures. The CITRA Module proved to be feasible and practical to implement, enabling nurses to build more positive therapeutic interactions with children and enhance the quality of pediatric nursing care. This program is recommended for sustainable implementation in pediatric clinical nursing practice.

Abstract

Anxiety and depression are common psychological problems experienced by patients with chronic illnesses and may affect the recovery process. Islamic spiritual care is considered a complementary approach that can help enhance calmness and strengthen patients’ coping abilities. This community service program aimed to empower nurses through the implementation of the ARIS Module (Anxiety and Depression Reduction Through Islamic Spiritual Care) to improve their competence in providing spiritual care and to contribute to better psychological outcomes among patients. The program was conducted at Siti Khadijah Islamic Hospital Palembang from August to September 2025 and involved 35 nurses. The activities included intensive training, demonstrations, role play, and supervised clinical practice, covering therapeutic communication, guided dzikr and prayer, selected Qur’anic verses, and spiritual reflection based on the ARIS Module. Evaluation was carried out through pre–post tests and monitoring of patients’ psychological responses. The program showed improvements in nurses’ knowledge and skills in delivering more structured, empathetic, and needs-based spiritual care. The implementation of the ARIS Module also contributed to reduced anxiety and depression among patients, reflected in greater calmness, relaxation, and readiness to face illness. This program provided a positive contribution to strengthening holistic nursing care in the hospital.

Abstract

Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) and exclusive breastfeeding are maternal and child health interventions that play a crucial role in reducing the risk of neonatal infection, improving infant immune resilience, and supporting optimal public health. However, the lack of knowledge and skills of postpartum mothers remains a major barrier to implementing these practices. This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to improve postpartum mothers' knowledge and skills regarding Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) and exclusive breastfeeding through a participatory learning-based educational program. The activity method includes a pretest, material delivery using interactive media, discussion and question-and-answer sessions, and demonstrations of correct breastfeeding positions and attachments. Evaluation was conducted through a posttest on knowledge and observation of breastfeeding practices. The activity results showed a significant increase in postpartum mothers' knowledge and improved ability to practice Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) and effective breastfeeding techniques. This increased knowledge and skills are supporting factors in the success of exclusive breastfeeding until six months of age and have the potential to reduce the risk of neonatal infection through colostrum provision and appropriate breastfeeding practices. This educational program contributes as a promotional and preventive effort to improve maternal and infant health and supports the strengthening of community-based health services.
