Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the community perceptions of village forest management in Morella Country. The research method is descriptive qualitative. The sample was determined using a purposive sampling method which only focused on communities directly involved in Village Forest (HD) management with a total of 31 respondents and several figures as key informants. Data collection methods were carried out by means of observation, interviews and literature study. Data analysis used descriptive statistics with a Likert scale as the measurement scale, namely strongly agree (3), agree (2), disagree (1) with high, medium and low categorization for each value. The research results show that the community's perception of village forest management in Morella Country is classified in the 'Medium' category, including perceptions of pre-licensing village forest management, namely socialization and facilitation, formation of LPHD, technical verification and issuance of permits and post-licensing, namely HD planning and implementation..

Abstract

This research aims to determine the types of plants that have the potential to be used as cuscus food, determine the parts of plants that function as cuscus food, and determine the availability of cuscus food in their habitat. This research uses a descriptive method using the route transect technique carried out in Manusela National Park (Masihulan Resort). The research instrument generally carried out by researchers is field observation. The data obtained consisted of the type of feed consumed by cuscus, the plants consumed by cuscus (leaves, fruit and bark), and the potential types of feed (density, dominance and frequency) at the research location. The results of data analysis show that there are 27 types of plants that are categorized as cuscus food in the research area and the most preferred cuscus are Bintanggur (Calophyllum inopyllum), Wako (Carallia brachiate merr.), Wapane, Forest Nutmeg (Knema cinerea), Redwood (Pinus sylvestris), Forest Belo (Diospyrus celebica), Siki Wood (Palaquium javense burck). The results of the research show that the part of the plant most liked and consumed by cuscus is the leaves of young shoots in very large quantities compared to the fruit and bark of the tree. Finally, the research results show that the availability and regeneration of cuscus feed is still very good, this can be seen from the dominance values obtained both at tree level and at pole level.

Abstract

Customary Forest is one of the social forestry schemes in the framework of sustainable forest management by utilizing indigenous communities as the main actors in order to improve welfare, environmental balance and socio-cultural dynamics. Customary Forest is a forest located within the territory of the customary law community. This study aims to examine the role of the Social Forestry Business Group (SFBG) and customary institutions in the management of Customary Forests in Hutumuri village.. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, with data collected through interviews and field observations. Sampling is done by purposive sampling where sampling is based on previously known characteristics or properties of the population (Sugiyono, 2016). The results showed that SFBG has an important role in managing forest resources sustainably and improving the welfare of local communities. SFBG functions in social forestry business development, compliance with regulations, supervision, evaluation, and reporting. The SFBG organizational structure includes a chairperson, secretary, treasurer, planning, implementation, and supervision, each with specific roles. Customary institutions also play an important role in the planning and implementation of institutional improvement programs, such as the inauguration of soa heads and saniri negeri, the establishment of SFBG, and training on forest product processing. In addition, there is a role in the application for the determination of customary forests to the Minister of Environment and Forestry, the location of customary forests belongs to the state or Soa, and the marking of boundaries involves each Soa. In conclusion, the synergy between SFBG and customary institutions is crucial for the successful management of Hutan Adat in Negeri Hutumuri.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the types of bird species in the mangrove area in Hitu Bay, Central Maluku Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive using direct and indirect census techniques to determine the type and distribution of birds. The results of the research show that in Hitu Bay there are 17 species of birds, consisting of 12 species of terrestrial birds and 5 species of seabirds. The bird distribution value with the lowest frequency is 0.1 and the lowest relative frequency is 1.03, namely the Common turtledove (Streptopelia chinensis), while the highest frequency is 0.9 and the highest relative frequency is 9.27, namely the Cow swallow (Collocalia esculenta), Little egret (Egretta garzetta), and Cucak kutilang (Pycnonotus aurigaster).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying husk charcoal and liquid organic fertilizer from fruit and vegetable waste in increasing the growth of agarwood seedlings (Aqualaria malaccensis). This research was carried out in the Nursery of the Department of Forestry, Faculty of Agriculture, Pattimura University for three months. The method used in this study is a Complete Random Design (RAL) with 2 factors and 3 replicates. The first factor is the dose of liquid organic fertilizer from fruit and vegetable waste consisting of 4 levels, namely A0 (No liquid organic fertilizer), A1 (100 ml), A2 = (200 ml), A3 = (300 ml) The second factor is the application of husk charcoal consisting of 2 levels, namely B1 (No husk charcoal), B2 (Husk charcoal). The results showed that A1B2 treatment (100 ml POC + husk charcoal medium) gave the highest results on plant height, A2B1 (200 ml POC + no husk charcoal media) gave the highest results on plant diameter, while the highest number of leaves was A0B1 (control + no husk charcoal).

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the diameter increment and height increment, growth and development of Samama Plants (Anthocephalus marcophyllus) as well as environmental factors that influence the growth of Samama Plants (Anthocepalus marcophyllus). This research was carried out in Block III of Samama Plants (Anthocephalus marcophyllus) in the Seed Source Demonstration Plot in Hatusua Village, Kairatu District, West Seram Regency. Initial data was taken in January 2022 and continued with final data collection in July 2022. This research uses a quantitative analysis method by calculating the Average Annual Increment (MAI), current annual increment (CAI) and analysis simple regression. The results of further research show that the growth of Samama (Anthocephalus marcophyllus) plants in the seed source demonstration plot of Hatusua village, West Seram Regency with a Current Annual Rate (CAI) diameter in 2022 is 1.2 (cm/tnm/yr) and an average annual increase (MAI) diameter is 3.05 (cm/tnm/yr), current annual increment (CAI) is high, namely 1.77 (m/tnm/yr) and average annual increment (MAI) is high, namely 2.93 (m /tnm/yr). The development of the Samama plant in measurements in 2022, the walnut plant has developed. From the results of research in 2022, the growth of the Samama plant is at the pole and tree level. There are 8 trees on the pole with diameters ranging from 14.5 – 20.

Abstract

Agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis) is a non-timber forest product commodity that has a high selling value. Indonesia is the largest agarwood producer in the world. By the end of 1990, Indonesia could produce more than 600 tons of agarwood annually.  The research was carried out in the nursery of the Forestry Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Patimura University. This research was carried out from February to May 2024 to determine the effect of shade on the growth of gaharu seedlings (Aquilaria malaccensis). The percentage of shade supports the growth of (Aquilaria malaccensis). The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments, namely no shade, 50% shade, 65% shade, and 75% shade. The research results show that gaharu seeds are a semi-tolerant type, or a type of gaharu tree that can grow in open and shaded areas.
