Abstract

In an effort to optimize forest functions in terms of providing added value to certain regions or villages, especially in the development of nature-based tourism, tree species are selected that have more capabilities than other tree species. This ability can be in the form of carbon dioxide absorption or the ability to absorb other types of pollutant gases that cannot be absorbed by most trees. The selection of tree species can also be done to shape the aesthetics either in urban areas or in areas with special purposes. Types of trees that have a wide canopy, attractive appearance of trees, flower and bear fruit throughout the year, become a place for playing and foraging for birds, originally have values that can be used to shape the aesthetics of the tourist area being built. The main purpose of community service activities is to provide understanding to the community, especially nature tourism business actors, about tree species that are potential and have species suitability when examined from economic, aesthetic and silvicultural values so that they can support the development of natural tourism. The service activity was carried out in Kamal Village, West Kairatu District, West Seram Regency in June 2020. The main focus of community service activities is to provide education to the community and business actors about planting trees and preserving forest as well as introducing potential tree species to help develop Kamal nature tourism. Beach and Pelumena Peak.

Abstract

Carbon stocks while amount of carbon stored on vegetation, other biomass and soil. Effort to reduce greenhouse gas concentrations at atmosphere (emissions) ito reduce CO2 into air. Amount of CO2 on air must be controlled by increasing of CO2 by plants as much as possible and reducing release of emissions as low as possible. Carbon stored reserves should be measured as attempt to carbon stocks in forest to decrease carbon emissions and adverse effects. Research do in September 2015 at parmanent sampling plot on 2012 at Soya included Mount Sirimau . Method of biomass and carbon stocks on Measurement and Calculation of Carbon Stock overall primary forests and secondary forests consist of 409. Abstract

Kenari (Canarium Amboinense Hoch) is one type of multipurpose forestry plant. This species has many benefits because, in addition to the fruit produced, wood, leaves, and sap from the Kenari plant (Canarium Amboinense Hoch) can be managed by the community to generate income because it has a fairly high economic value. The main problem faced in the development of the Kenari (Canarium Amboinense Hoch) plant is the correct cultivation process and mechanism and produces quality seeds. The type of Kenari (Canarium Amboinense Hoch) is known to have low dormancy and germination (Jumria, 2011) causing considerable failure in breeding. Another problem faced by farmers in the development of this type is the economic prospect that has not been seen if its cultivation is carried out, especially in West Seram Regency. The main purpose of the service activity is to provide knowledge and understanding to the people of Hatusua Village regarding the cultivation/nursery technique of Kenari (Canarium Amboinense Hoch) through the use of appropriate growing media to produce quality Kenari seeds (Canarium Amboinense Hoch), economic value and conservation value for the environment. The service activity was carried out at the location of the Hatusua State Seed Source Demplot, Kairatu District, West Seram Regency on 8 – 9 April 2022.

Abstract

Research on provenance is one of the studies in the field of tree or forestry plant breeding which aims to determine the adaptability of one seed origin to the conditions in which it grows and the superiority of the provenance. Provenance test is important to determine the origin of quality forestry plant seeds, in this case the selected species is Kenari (Canarium amboinensis). In addition, the development of this species in the future uses seeds that come from quality seed sources. This study aims to determine the growth variations of two provenances of walnut (Canarium amboinensis) from Ambon and Seram islands. This research took place in April 2023 and was carried out at the Provenans Nursery of Kenari plants (Canarium amboinensis), which were 5 months old in Hatusua Village, Kairatu District, West Seram Regency. The results showed that of the 20 walnut seedlings in the provenance from Refinery Village, only 19 plants were alive and 1 plant was dead, so the percentage of survivors in walnut plants from Refinery Village was 95%. Meanwhile for Nikulukan Village, it was shown that of the 20 plants that should have existed, 17 plants were alive and 3 plants were dead, so the percentage of survival from the Kenari seedlings from provenance in Nikulukan Village was 85%. the results of the analysis above, t-count = -3.22 and when compared with t-table at α = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (db) = 35 is 2.03 then the absolute value of t-count is more than t-table so there is difference in the number of leaves of this plant in the two provenances

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine changes in forest cover of Mount Sirimau Protected Forest in Ambon City which have been analyzed since 1990, 2000, 2006, 2011 and 2015. This research was conducted using analytical methods where satellite imagery of 5 different years in 1990, 2000 and 2006 recording years, 2011 and 2015 were interpreted digitally through supervised classification. After the interpretation, the mapping was carried out using ArGIS to analyze changes in forest cover. It is supported by the data from the Forest Monitoring Center of Ambon Area IX that had been obtained using ArGIS into primary data. The data were analyzed by using the digital analysis method or the maximum opportunity method. The results showed changes in land cover in 2000, 2006 and 2011 from areas of forest become agricultural land and in 2015 the area of agricultural land was changed into settlements areas. The augmentation of non-forest areas (Settlements) along the Toisapu hamlet and Soya villages up to 2015 for residential areas has reached 16,997 Ha with an average annual increase of 70.59 km2.
