Abstract

Nickel mining in Weda, Halmahera Island, is one of the largest nickel mines in Indonesia, and its activities impact changes in vegetation indices and cover in the area. The research uses Landsat 8 satellite imagery from 2019, 2022, and 2025 with the NDVI algorithm to analyse changes in vegetation index values and vegetation cover. The research results show that the NDVI values for 2019 are the lowest at -0.233774 and the highest at 0.999903; for 2022, the lowest is -0.369486 and the highest is 0.799867; and for 2025, the lowest is -0.369486 and the highest is 0.530372. The NDVI values were then classified into 4 vegetation cover classes: active mining areas, sparse, moderate, and dense vegetation. The active mining area in 2019 was 1.27 km², in 2022 it was 11.91 km², and in 2025 it was 18.20 km². Sparse vegetation in 2019 covered 5.73 km², in 2022 it covered 6.03 km², and in 2025 it covered 8.07 km². Moderate vegetation in 2019 covered 5.72 km², in 2022 it covered 2.68 km², and in 2025 it covered 2.21 km². Dense vegetation in 2019 covered 522.64 km², in 2022 it covered 515.35 km², and in 2025 it covered 507.20 km². The presentation of the mining area continues to increase every year. The results of this research are expected to be used for continuous monitoring to ensure compliance with environmental standards and support rehabilitation programmes in Weda and other tropical mining areas.

Abstract

Adherence to hemodialysis therapy is essential for improving clinical outcomes and reducing complications among patients with chronic kidney failure; however, non-adherence remains a persistent challenge in many healthcare facilities. This study aimed to analyze the factors influencing adherence to hemodialysis among chronic kidney failure patients at Hermina Manado Hospital. A quantitative analytical cross-sectional design was employed, involving patients undergoing routine hemodialysis. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire covering sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge level, family support, service accessibility, and patient perceptions of therapy. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify key determinants of adherence. The findings showed that sociodemographic factors (age, gender, and education) showed no significant association with hemodialysis adherence. In contrast, internal and social factors demonstrated strong relationships with compliance. Higher patient knowledge was significantly associated with better adherence, as were strong family support and higher motivation levels. Multivariate analysis identified knowledge as the dominant predictor of compliance, with patients possessing good knowledge being 3.49 times more likely to adhere to treatment than those with lower knowledge. This study concludes that adherence can be improved through comprehensive strategies aimed at increasing patient knowledge, optimizing family support, and enhancing service accessibility, thereby contributing to better hemodialysis outcomes and overall patient well-being.

Abstract

The increasing duration of online gaming among adolescents has raised public concern, particularly due to its potential impact on sleep quality. Sleep is a fundamental physiological need that is essential for physical growth, mental health, and overall well-being, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, which emphasizes ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages. Adequate sleep also plays a crucial role in cognitive functioning, learning capacity, and academic performance, which are central to SDG 4, aimed at ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education. Excessive engagement in online gaming may lead to addictive behaviors and reduced sleep duration, ultimately resulting in poor sleep quality among adolescents. This study aimed to examine the relationship between the duration of online gaming and sleep quality among students at SMP Negeri 8 Manado. The study employed a quantitative approach using an analytical survey with a cross-sectional design. A total of 90 students were selected using the Lemeshow formula and stratified random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires assessing online gaming duration and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Statistical analysis was conducted using Spearman’s rank correlation test. The findings revealed a significant negative correlation between the duration of online gaming and sleep quality (r = −0.577, p = 0.001), indicating that longer durations of online gaming are associated with poorer sleep quality among junior high school students. These results highlight the importance of regulating online gaming duration as part of health promotion and educational support strategies to enhance adolescent well-being and learning outcomes in line with the SDGs.

Abstract

Breakfast is an essential meal that provides energy to support daily activities and cognitive functions, particularly learning concentration among school-aged children. Adequate breakfast consumption contributes to improved nutritional status, which is closely aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2, aimed at ending hunger and improving nutrition. Furthermore, optimal nutrition supports cognitive development and learning capacity, which are fundamental to achieving SDG 4, ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education. In Indonesia, a substantial proportion of students skip breakfast, a behavior that may negatively affect their ability to concentrate, think clearly, and maintain physical endurance during school activities. This study aimed to examine the relationship between breakfast habits and learning concentration among students at SMP Negeri 8 Manado. The study employed a quantitative analytic survey design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 85 students were selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires to assess breakfast habits and concentration test sheets to measure learning concentration. Statistical analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The findings revealed that more than half of the students had good breakfast habits (52.9%), while only 29.4% demonstrated good learning concentration. Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between breakfast habits and learning concentration (p = 0.007 < 0.05), with a moderate strength of correlation (r = 0.292). The study concludes that there is a positive and significant relationship between breakfast habits and learning concentration among students at SMP Negeri 8 Manado. Regular and adequate breakfast consumption plays an important role in supporting students’ concentration during learning activities, highlighting its contribution to nutritional well-being and educational quality in line with the SDGs.

Abstract

Household sanitation and community behavior are the main determinants of environmental health that contribute to the incidence of environmentally-based diseases. This study aims to analyze household sanitation conditions, community behavior, and their relationship to environmental health risks using the Environmental Health Risk Assessment (EHRA) method in the Kawangkoan Community Health Center (Puskesmas) working area. The study used a descriptive analytical design with a cross-sectional approach to 100 household respondents. Data were collected through the EHRA questionnaire and analyzed using the chi-square test and multivariate analysis. The results showed that the majority of respondents were in the risky sanitation and risky behavior categories. Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between household sanitation and environmental health risks, as well as between community behavior and environmental health risks. Household sanitation variables and behavior simultaneously influence the level of environmental health risks. This study emphasizes the importance of STBM-based promotive and preventive interventions to reduce environmental health risks at the household level. This study supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 (ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all) and SDG 3 (promoting health and well-being), by providing evidence-based insights to strengthen sanitation improvement strategies and disease prevention efforts in community settings.

Abstract

The rapid digital transformation in healthcare has driven hospitals to adopt digital marketing and digital administration policies to improve patient satisfaction and retention. However, empirical evidence on the mechanisms linking these policies to patient retention remains limited, particularly in Indonesian private hospitals. This study examines the effects of digital marketing and digital administration policies on patient retention, with healthcare service satisfaction as a mediating variable, at Advent Hospital Manado. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire, and data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with all constructs specified as reflective. The respondents were predominantly female, with two dominant age groups (25–35 years and >55 years), indicating different digital behavior patterns. Facebook was identified as the main referral platform, reflecting its effectiveness in reaching adult and elderly patients. Overall, respondents reported high and homogeneous perceptions of digital services, suggesting positive evaluations, although a potential ceiling effect should be considered. The findings indicate that digital marketing and digital administration policies positively influence patient satisfaction, which in turn enhances patient retention. Demographic characteristics and digital literacy shape patient perceptions, highlighting the importance of optimizing digital platforms and administrative processes to strengthen long-term patient retention. This study contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 by highlighting how digital healthcare strategies enhance patient satisfaction and continuity of care, thereby promoting healthy lives and well-being. In addition, the findings support SDG 9 by demonstrating the role of digital marketing and digital administrative innovations in strengthening resilient healthcare service infrastructure and fostering innovation within private hospitals.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors causing professional ethics violations among Civil Servants (ASN) through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. A total of 27 articles published between 2020 and 2025 were reviewed from Google Scholar, Scopus, DOAJ, and Sinta databases. The thematic synthesis revealed four main factors contributing to ethical violations: weak individual moral awareness, permissive organizational culture, weak supervision systems, and socio-political pressures. This analysis integrates the Theory of Planned Behavior, Virtue Ethics, and Agency Theory to explain the roots of unethical behavior among civil servants from both individual and structural perspectives. Theoretically, this study maps the dynamics of ethical behavior among civil servants, while practically offering recommendations for strengthening ethical leadership, integrity training, and value-based internal control systems. The findings emphasize the importance of professional ethics as the foundation of an integrity-driven and accountable public bureaucracy.
