Abstract

Character education has a crucial role in basic education as an effort to build a generation that is intellectually intelligent and has noble character. This study aims to analyze the contribution of the Tahfidz program in building the character and spiritual values of students in MIN 01 Bandung City. A descriptive qualitative approach is used to explore experiences, views, and practices in the implementation of the Tahfidz program involving 5th grade students, teachers, and parents. The results of the study show that the Tahfidz program has a positive impact on student discipline, honesty, responsibility, and cooperation. The on-time attendance rate of students increased from 60% to 85% after the program was running, while the habit of self-reliance at home increased from 30% to 70%. In addition, group activities such as the Sima'an method help build student honesty and responsibility, where 90% of students carry out group tasks honestly and objectively. The cooperation created in the group also strengthens solidarity, where 80% of students actively help friends who are experiencing difficulties. This program has succeeded in instilling discipline and an orderly lifestyle and forming solid moral and spiritual values. This study recommends the integration of the Tahfidz program into the formal education system as an effort to build a young generation with high character and integrity.

Abstract

Mathematics learning is often perceived as abstract and disconnected from students’ real-life experiences. To bridge this gap, this study developed a culturally contextualized learning trajectory using Kawung Batik patterns from Yogyakarta to support students' understanding of arithmetic sequences and series. Employing the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach within a design research framework, this study followed three main phases: preliminary phase, design experiments (pilot and teaching experiments), and retrospective analysis. The participants were 32 tenth-grade science students at SMAS Muhammadiyah Kedawung. The findings indicate that the Kawung Batik context facilitated students’ transition from informal to formal reasoning in learning arithmetic sequences and series. Students actively identified patterns, organized batik motifs into arithmetic sequences, and formulated the general term and the sum of the first n terms through meaningful contextual engagement. Visual strategies and group discussions promoted active participation and conceptual understanding in solving culturally grounded mathematical problems. This study contributes to the development of culturally contextual mathematics instruction in Indonesia and provides a practical model for designing meaningful arithmetic sequence and series lessons. The proposed learning trajectory serves as a reference for teachers seeking to connect mathematics learning with students' cultural environments.

Abstract

Islamic financial institutions are obligated to ensure that every operational activity aligns with Sharia principles. One of the most crucial aspects in this regard is the formulation of financing contracts. These contracts are not merely formal legal documents but also reflect a moral commitment between the institution and the customer, which must be free from elements prohibited in Islam, such as Riba (interest), Gharar (uncertainty), and Maysir (speculation). This study aims to explore the extent to which Sharia principles have been implemented in the drafting of financing contracts, as well as to examine the challenges faced by Islamic financial institutions in the process. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, utilizing literature review and in-depth interviews with practitioners in the Islamic banking sector. The findings reveal that although Islamic financial institutions have administratively incorporated Sharia principles into financing agreements, there are discrepancies in interpretation and implementation at the practical level. Contributing factors include limited human resources with adequate knowledge of Fiqh Muamalah, inconsistencies between internal regulations and fatwas issued by the National Sharia Council (DSN-MUI), and market pressures demanding operational efficiency. This research contributes by identifying the gap between regulation and practice and provides recommendations for improving human resource training and harmonizing internal policies. The findings are expected to serve as input for regulators, academics, and practitioners in strengthening Sharia governance within the financial sector.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is a fundamental component of English learning that underpins students’ ability to read, write, speak, and listen effectively. However, many Indonesian learners still rely on passive memorization and translation strategies, which are less effective for long-term vocabulary retention and communicative competence. This study investigates the application of the Direct Reading Method assisted by digital media as an innovative strategy to improve students’ English vocabulary mastery. The integration of digital resources, such as interactive e-books, vocabulary applications, and multimodal content, aims to create a more contextual, engaging, and effective learning environment that meets the needs of the digital generation. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group. Participants were high school students selected purposively based on low initial vocabulary scores and access to digital devices. Data were collected using vocabulary tests, observation sheets, and motivation questionnaires. Quantitative data were analyzed through t-tests, while qualitative findings were drawn from observations and student responses. The findings demonstrate that the experimental group, taught using the Direct Reading Method with digital media, showed significantly greater improvement in vocabulary mastery than the control group taught with conventional methods. The experimental group’s average score increased by +23.4 compared to +11.3 in the control group, with statistical tests confirming significant differences (p < 0.01). Furthermore, students in the experimental group exhibited higher engagement (82%), stronger motivation, and a greater desire to continue using the method. In conclusion, combining Direct Reading with digital media not only enhances vocabulary mastery but also fosters active participation and learning motivation. This approach offers an effective, interactive, and technology-integrated model of vocabulary learning suitable for 21st-century education.

Abstract

In the digital age, technology has penetrated various aspects of life, including religious practices. One important phenomenon is the use of social media by religious communities to carry out, disseminate, and modernize religious practices. This study focuses on analyzing Ustadz Hanan Attaki's lectures on YouTube, particularly in a video titled “Saat Kecewa, Harus Gimana?” (When Disappointed, What Should We Do?). The purpose of this study is to examine how Ustadz Hanan Attaki explains the concept of overcoming disappointment and how the audience responds to the lecture. The research methods used are content analysis and sentiment analysis. Content analysis is conducted to explore the visual and narrative elements in the video, while sentiment analysis is used to categorize audience comments based on positive, negative, or neutral responses. The main data was obtained from Ustadz Hanan Attaki's lecture video and audience comments on YouTube. The results of the study show that Ustadz Hanan Attaki uses an approach that is relevant to the daily lives of the audience, making his message easy to understand and accept. Sentiment analysis shows that the majority of audience comments are positive, indicating that this lecture successfully provides emotional and spiritual support to the audience. This study confirms that social media, especially YouTube, is an effective platform for delivering relevant and useful religious messages to modern society. The findings of this study provide new insights into the dynamics of religion in the digital age and can be used to formulate policies that support the dissemination of religious teachings through digital media. This study also underlines the importance of the role of digital technology in increasing the involvement of the community in understanding religious teachings and overcoming emotional problems such as disappointment.
