Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive disorder that affects kidney function, often requiring interventions like hemodialysis to maintain patient stability. In addition to medical care, it is crucial to consider patients' nutritional status and quality of life. This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the nutritional status and quality of life of CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at Luwuk Regional Hospital. The study included 77 subjects, and nutritional status was assessed using the Dialysis Malnutrition Score (DMS), while quality of life was measured using the Kidney Disease Quality of Life Short Form (KDQoL-SF). The results showed that 72.7% of subjects had normal/good nutritional status, and 27.3% had mild-moderate malnutrition. Furthermore, 51.9% of subjects reported poor quality of life, while 48.1% had good quality of life. Among subjects with good nutritional status, 39.7% had good quality of life, and 60.7% had poor quality of life. Statistical analysis revealed no significant relationship between nutritional status based on DMS and quality of life in hemodialysis patients (p>0.05). Quality of life is a complex phenomenon influenced by various factors, and good nutritional status alone may not be sufficient to improve quality of life if other factors, such as psychological stress or pain, are not properly managed. The findings emphasize the importance of a holistic, multidimensional, and personalized clinical approach to enhance the quality of life in hemodialysis patients. Interventions should not only focus on improving nutritional status but also consider patients' overall psychological, social, and physical well-being.

Abstract

Maternal and infant mortality rates remain high in Indonesia, necessitating improvements in health services, particularly for pregnant women. This study aimed to determine the influence of customer factors (preferences, desires, and demands) on antenatal care services and delivery location. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with a sample of 210 mothers who had given birth in Balikpapan City, selected using multistage random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed descriptively, examining relationships between variables and using Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis. Results showed that customer factors significantly influenced antenatal care services (coefficient=0.454, t>t-table) and choice of delivery location (coefficient=0.434, t>t-table). Preferences for antenatal care were highest for independent midwives (35.2%) and hospitals (35.2%), while desires for delivery location were highest for hospitals (57.2%). The majority of respondents (73.7%) had their first antenatal check-up in the first trimester, and 76.2% had more than four check-ups. The most common delivery locations were hospitals (46.7%) and health centers (38.1%). In conclusion, an increase in customer factors (preferences, desires, and demands) was found to increase antenatal care service utilization by 45.4% and influence the choice of delivery location by 43.4%.

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of DM Smart Ludo educational gaming media on knowledge and blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients in the working area of the North Polombangkeng Health Center, Takalar Regency, Indonesia. The research employed a quantitative, pre-experimental one-group pre-post test design with 33 T2DM patients selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected using a standardized questionnaire for knowledge assessment and observation sheets coupled with blood glucose level measurements for evaluating blood sugar control. The Wilcoxon test was used for statistical analysis with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed a significant improvement in knowledge after the intervention, with the average score increasing from 6.52 to 12.06 (p=0.000). Blood sugar control also improved significantly, with the average blood glucose level decreasing from 287.30 mg/dL before the intervention to 214.09 mg/dL in the fourth week post-intervention (p=0.000). The percentage of respondents with normal blood sugar levels increased from 12.1% pre-intervention to 57.6% in the fourth week. In conclusion, the DM Smart Ludo educational gaming media significantly improved knowledge and blood sugar control in T2DM patients, highlighting the potential of game-based interventions in diabetes management. Further research with larger sample sizes and longer durations is recommended to confirm these findings.

Abstract

Nursing care management improves the centralized nursing information system by ensuring accurate documentation, efficient workflows, and better technology training, as well as supporting clinical decision-making with quality data. This study aims to assess the impact of nursing care management implementation on the improvement of the centralized nursing information system at IS Makassar Hospital in 2023. A quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest was used, involving a control group, with a sample size of 110 nurses from 4 inpatient wards participating in the study through total sampling. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test and independent paired t-test. The results showed a significant impact of nursing care management implementation on the centralized nursing information system. The intervention group had a p-value of 0.002, and the difference between the intervention and control groups showed a p-value of 0.0002. These findings indicate that structured nursing care management improves nurses' documentation skills and knowledge. It is recommended to explore the optimization of continuous training for nurses in the use of the centralized nursing information system, and to conduct a long-term evaluation of the impact of nursing care management implementation on the quality of documentation.

Abstract

The problem found at Anutapura Regional Hospital is that earthquake disaster preparedness is not yet effective due to the hospital's occupational health and safety organizational structure not being updated since 2020 and lack of special training for the team to deal with earthquake disasters. This qualitative case study aims to analyze the organization, mobilization and activation of human resources in earthquake disaster preparedness at Anutapura Regional Hospital, Palu City. In-depth interviews and observations were conducted with key informants including the hospital director, emergency/disaster preparedness coordinator, and secretary of the occupational health and safety team. The results showed that the organizational structure has been updated in 2023 with defined roles and responsibilities, but monitoring and evaluation mechanisms need improvement to ensure teamwork efficiency and effectiveness. The hospital is constrained in training the team, with no special training available for earthquake disasters, although some internal training has been conducted. Personnel selection is based on competencies aligned with emergency response tasks, focusing on managerial expertise and emergency certification. However, the team is not yet independent with members from various units, resulting in suboptimal implementation. The placement process follows general procedures without special assignments for emergencies, and performance evaluations are not conducted regularly. Anutapura Regional Hospital should implement a special training program that includes earthquake disaster management strategies to enhance preparedness.
