DIRASAH: Jurnal Kajian Islam is a scholarly journal published by Litera Academica Publishing, under the Yayasan Amal Ibnu Shabil (Based on Akte Pendirian Yayasan No. 08, January 22, 2022), aimed at disseminating research findings and scientific studies in various fields of Islamic sciences. The journal prioritizes the quality and originality of articles that contribute to the development of Islamic studies, both in terms of theory, methodology, and application. DIRASAH: Jurnal Kajian Islam accepts articles from academics, researchers, and practitioners who are competent in their fields. Each submitted article undergoes a rigorous review process by experts to ensure the quality and relevance of the publication. DIRASAH: Jurnal Kajian Islam is published four times a year (January, April, July, and October) and is available online through the Open Journal System (OJS), facilitating wide access and distribution. The article will be published in Bahasa Indonesia and English. We invite researchers and academics to contribute and disseminate knowledge through this journal for the advancement of Islamic studies and the enlightenment of the community. Authors who want to submit their manuscript to the editorial office of DIRASAH: Jurnal Kajian Islam should obey the writing guidelines. If the manuscript submitted is not appropriate with the guidelines or written in a different format, it will be rejected by the editors before further reviewed. The editors will only accept the manuscripts which meet the assigned format.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to increase the motivation to learn Islamic cultural history using the role playing method in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, creating learning that is more effective and not boring. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, which is collected from several research books and journals. The research data analysis technique uses deductive qualitative analysis techniques. According to the results of the study show that students are more motivated to learn Islamic cultural history with the role playing method than using the usual method, students are more able to express themselves in role playing, more immersed and as if plunged into the history.

Abstract

In a modern life filled with temptations of materialism and hedonism, individuals are constantly faced with choices between fulfilling worldly desires or upholding the integrity of faith. When desire becomes the central orientation of life and exceeds the boundaries set by religious values, faith is gradually displaced, leading to the deterioration of moral character. This article aims to reflect on the phenomenon of moral decay as a consequence of weakened spiritual control over the impulses of human desire. Through a conceptual and reflective approach, this paper highlights the essential role of faith as a balancing force in confronting unchecked desires. Faith, when deeply rooted and accompanied by a strong awareness of moral responsibility, serves as a solid foundation for guiding human behavior in accordance with Islamic ethics. The decline in moral values seen in society today is not solely due to external influences, but also stems from an inner crisis that neglects the role of faith as the primary guide. Therefore, the restoration of moral character cannot be separated from the reinforcement of faith and the continuous cultivation of spiritual consciousness.

Abstract

Ulumul Qur’an is a branch of Islamic knowledge that explores essential aspects of understanding the Qur’an in depth. The integration of Ulumul Qur’an into Islamic education is believed to enhance students' religious literacy, encompassing their ability to read, comprehend, and apply the teachings of the Qur’an in daily life. This article aims to analyze the role of Ulumul Qur’an in improving students' religious literacy through a literature review of various scholarly journals. The findings indicate that a strong understanding of Ulumul Qur’an can reinforce religious character, deepen comprehension of Islamic teachings, and shape attitudes and behaviors aligned with Qur’anic values.

Abstract

Digital transformation has created a new paradigm in the dissemination and learning of hadith, bringing both revolutionary impacts and complex challenges for Muslims. This study comprehensively examines the anatomy of hadith content dissemination in the digital era and its implications for people's religious understanding. Through a qualitative approach with data analysis from various digital platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and WhatsApp), the study reveals that: (1) 63% of hadith content on Instagram does not include the status of authenticity; (2) Hadith dissemination occurs through three main layers - religious influencers, online communities, and attractive visual designs; (3) Unverified hadith content has the potential to lead to doctrinal misunderstandings, community divisions, and deviant worship practices. The research findings show that while digital technology has democratized access to hadith knowledge, the speed of information dissemination is not matched by adequate verification mechanisms. The characteristics of social media that encourage virality and high engagement have the potential to exacerbate the spread of false (maudhu') and weak (dha'if) hadith. On the other hand, the study also identified transformative opportunities through hadith verification applications, online courses, and creative educational content. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration between scholars, academics, technology developers, and communities to build a healthy digital ecosystem. Policy recommendations include: strengthening digital hadith literacy, developing AI-based verification tools, and drafting religious content guidelines for digital platforms. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of contemporary hadith studies and proselytization practices in the digital era.

Abstract

The Israel-Palestine conflict is one of the most complex and prolonged issues in modern history, particularly within the context of the Islamic world. This study aims to examine the historical roots of the establishment of the state of Israel and the loss of Palestinian sovereignty, explain the main dynamics of the conflict from the 20th century to the present, analyze the response of the Islamic world, and evaluate the various efforts made toward conflict resolution. Using a descriptive-qualitative method and a historical approach, this research relies on literature review from academic works, official documents, and other credible sources. The findings show that the conflict is rooted in colonialism, the Zionist project, and Western policies following the fall of the Ottoman Caliphate. The declaration of the establishment of Israel in 1948 marked the beginning of open conflict and a humanitarian tragedy for the Palestinian people. The Islamic world generally demonstrates moral and religious solidarity with Palestine, though concrete actions among Islamic countries often lack unity. Peace efforts made over the past decades have frequently faced obstacles due to political interests and power imbalances. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of this conflict requires a historical, political, and humanistic approach in order to promote a just and sustainable resolution for all parties involved.

Abstract

Ibn Taymiyyah is widely recognized as one of the key figures in the renewal (tajdid) of Islamic thought. Despite the controversies surrounding his views, his contributions to the formulation of principles governing differences of opinion (Ushul al-Ikhtilaf) remain significant. This study aims to examine Ibn Taymiyyah’s concept of Ushul al-Ikhtilaf. It employs a qualitative approach using interpretative-hermeneutic analysis of documentary data. The findings reveal that Ibn Taymiyyah viewed differences in ijtihadi matters as a natural aspect of Islamic legal dynamics, provided they are based on valid Shariah grounds. He emphasized several key principles: no condemnation should occur without clear evidence, coercion in matters of differing opinions is not allowed, judgment and social ostracism must be avoided, and mujtahids who err in their ijtihad deserve excuse and reward if their efforts are sincere and based on valid interpretation. Even in error, a mujtahid should not be declared disbeliever or sinner. Nonetheless, granting such excuse does not negate the obligation to explain the truth in a scholarly and balanced manner for the sake of preserving the purity of the religion and the public good. Thus, Ibn Taymiyyah’s perspective on Ushul al-Ikhtilaf promotes a scholarly, tolerant, and just approach in addressing differences among Muslims.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the historical and ideological transformation of Turkey, from the Ottoman Empire as a symbol of Islamic glory to the Republic of Turkey founded on secular principles. The study covers the origins and development of the Ottoman Empire, the internal and external factors leading to its collapse, the ideas and reforms of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the forms of secularization implemented in state life, the resilience of Islamic values amid the tide of secularism, the impact of secularization on Turkish society, and the contemporary dynamics between secularism and the resurgence of Islamism. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with historical and analytical approaches. The historical approach traces the journey of the Ottoman Empire until its fall and the establishment of the modern Turkish Republic, while the analytical approach is used to assess secularization policies and their impacts on society. The findings reveal that Turkey has undergone major transformations in its political, social, and cultural systems. Although secularism has been thoroughly applied, Islamic identity has persisted and continues to flourish within society. The process of secularization has succeeded in driving rapid modernization, yet it has also generated tensions between the state and religious groups. In the contemporary context, Turkey serves as a battleground between Atatürk’s legacy of secularism and the growing aspirations of Islamism expressed through democratic means.

Abstract

Character education based on Islamic values is an effective approach in forming a golden generation that is academically intelligent, has strong moral and spiritual character, and is able to face the challenges of the times with a religious attitude and character. The integrity of Islamic values in character education can strengthen students' moral, ethical and noble values. This research uses qualitative methods and literature study to understand the role of Islamic religious education in shaping the character of the younger generation. The research results show that education based on Islamic values can be a strategic foundation in creating a golden generation with noble character, toughness, and ready to face the dynamics of life in the future. Synergy between schools, families and communities is very important in supporting this effort. Thus, character education based on Islamic values can be a solution to forming a superior Islamic generation with noble morals.
