Abstract

This study aims to explore students' perceptions of the use of Google Translate in learning English as a foreign language (EFL). In the context of globalization and digitalization, digital translation tools such as Google Translate have become an important component in the language learning process. Qualitative research methods are used to obtain an in-depth understanding of how students at STAI Nurul Islam Mojokerto, English Language Education Study Program view the effectiveness and usefulness of Google Translate. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews with 50 students from semesters V and VII. The results showed that students often used Google Translate to facilitate text comprehension and complete assignments, but also had concerns about accuracy and reliance on the tool. These findings indicate that while Google Translate offers convenience and efficiency, its use needs to be balanced with authentic language practice to avoid a negative impact on the development of deep language skills. This research provides important insights into how digital translation technology affects the language learning experience and suggests the need for adjustments in teaching methods to optimize the use of translation tools in English learning.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the use of deixis in Warung Kopi Podcast. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive method. The data in this study is the use of deixis contained in the speech or conversation in Warung Kopi Podcast. The data source of this research were obtained from episodes that had been selected from the Warung Kopi Podcast that airs on YouTube. The data collection method uses listening and note-taking methods. The result of this research is the use of five types of deixis, namely persona deixis, place deixis, time deixis, social deixis, and discourse deixis. The first persona deixis found in PWK is "I" "we". The second persona deixis found is “you”. The third persona deixis found is "he/she". Place deixis found in PWK is "there". The time deixis found in PWK is the use of the word "itu". The social deixis found in PWK are "pimp" and "chairman". Discourse deixis found in PWK is "anaphora discourse" and "katafora discourse”.

Abstract

Sekolah pada dasarnya merupakan suatu lembaga pendidikan, yang berdiri sendiri maupun terkait dengan instansi di atasnya, yang harus dikelola secara profesional sehingga mampu menghasilkan lulusan yang berkualitas. Madrasah sebagai salah satu identitas pendidikan di Indonesia, mau tidak mau harus mengikuti perkembangan pendidikan, MBM merupakan suatu konsep yang menawarkan otonomi pada Madrasah untuk menentukan kebijakan Madrasah dalam rangka meningkatkan mutu, efisiensi dan pemerataan pendidikan agar dapat mengakomodasi keinginan masyarakat setempat serta menjalin kerjasama yang erat antara Madrasah, masyararakat dan pemerintah. Kepemimpinan merupakan unsur fungsional utama dalam manajemen. Maka dari itu Peneliti melakukan penelitian di MA Al-ichsan Brangkal Sooko Mojokerto dengan judul Kepemimpinan Kepala Madrasah dalam Pelaksanaan Manajemen Berbasis Madrasah di Madrasah Aliyah Al-ichsan Brangkal Sooko Mojokerto. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) Untuk mengetahui secara jelas Pelaksanaan MBM di MA Al-Ichsan Mojokerto (2) Untuk mengetahui Tugas dan Tanggung jawab kepala Madrasah dalam pelaksanaan MBM di MA Al-Ichsan Mojokerto. (3) Untuk mengetahui faktor yang menjadi pendukung dalam pelaksanaan MBM di MA Al-Ichsan Mojokerto. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui (1) Wawancara (2) Pengamatan (3) Dokumentasi. Selanjutnya analisa data dilakukan dengan: (1) Analisa selama pengumpulan data yakni secara induktif dengan menggunakan analisa deskriptif, (2) Teknik keabsahan data dengan menggunakan triangulasi sumber data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, (1) MBM di MA Al-ichsan Mojokerto sudah dapat diterapkan meskipun tidak sepenuhnya, diantaranya dalam Pembelajaran yang aktif, kreatif, efektif dan menyenangkan, Transparansi Manajemen dan Peran serta masyarakat. (2) Tugas dan tanggung jawab kepala Madrasah dalam pelaksanaan MBM Dengan adanya beberapa program atau kegiatan pada masing-masing komponen MBM di MA Al-ichsan sudah ada peningkatan walaupun masih ada yang kurang atau belum terpenuhi semuanya. (3) Factor pendukungnya adalah di MA Al-ichsan Mojokerto terdapat adanya kekompakan dan semangat juang yang tinggi dari sebagian besar elemen-elemen yang ada di Madrasah mulai dari SDM guru, karyawan, sarana prasarana guna lebih meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan. Faktor pendukung inilah yang menjadi penunjang pelaksanaan Manajemen Berbasis Madrasah.

Abstract

Reading is an important skill to be mastered by the learners. How and when a child learns to read is one of the key educational milestones. Positive communication between the teacher and the student facilitates the easy acquisition of reading comprehension abilities (Ramsa Rawian, 2021). Reading calls for specialized training as well as deliberate effort (Ericsson, 2008). It is not a simple undertaking to teach English to young learners. In order to keep students interested and motivated in the teaching and learning process, teachers must employ effective teaching strategies (Ayua, 2017). Therefore, a study on the theme of how effective reading strategies for young learners are employed in this research is conducted. Library research was done as a method to enrich the insight and answer the question. Some reading strategies are advised to be applied in teaching reading, such as emergent literacy, the Mnemonic Technique, Read-Aloud techniques, Deciphering techniques, and the Language Experience Method.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on students' learning motivation in English language learning at higher education institutions. As the digital era evolves, ICT plays a pivotal role in enhancing education by offering broader access to learning resources and promoting student engagement. The research focuses on how ICT usage influences learning motivation, particularly in English, where motivation is critical for academic and professional success. Data were collected from 30 students through questionnaires, measuring motivation levels before and after ICT implementation. Regression analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between ICT usage and learning motivation, with 54.4% of motivation variability explained by ICT use. The study found that ICT increased students' interest, active participation, and accessibility to learning materials. Despite its benefits, challenges such as unequal access to technology and varying digital literacy levels were identified. The study concludes with recommendations for improving ICT integration through training, infrastructure development, and continuous evaluation. These findings contribute to the understanding of ICT’s role in fostering motivation in English language learning, offering insights for educators and policymakers to design more effective learning environments.
