Abstract

The phenomenon of impostor syndrome and AI addiction is increasingly relevant among university students. AI addiction is a state in which a person becomes highly dependent and finds it difficult to break away from the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. This study aims to determine the effect of impostor syndrome on AI addiction among college students. The method used is quantitative with data collection techniques through questionnaires on 130 respondents. The measuring instruments used were Impostor Phenomenon Scale and Dependent on Artificial Intelligence Scale, with Cronbach's alpha of 0.876 and 0.761 respectively. The data analysis technique used simple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS 26 software. The results of the analysis showed a p value = 0.001 <0.05, so there is a significant influence between impostor syndrome and AI addiction. The R square value of 0.076 indicates that impostor syndrome has an effect of 7.6% on AI addiction. So it can be concluded that the hypothesis in this study related to the influence of impostor syndrome on AI addiction among college students can be accepted

Abstract

TikTok, as a popular social media platform among teenagers and young adults, influences how individuals view and assess their physical appearance. Exposure to content that emphasizes lifestyle, fashion, and ideal body image can increase physical appearance perfectionism and affect Body satisfaction. This study aims to examine the relationship between physical appearance perfectionism and Body satisfaction in TikTok users. A quantitative approach with purposive sampling was used in this study, involving 139 participants (M = 18.08; SD = 3.01) aged 13-24 years. The instruments used were the Physical Appearance Perfectionism Scale (PAPS) and the Adolescent Body Image Satisfaction Scale (ABISS) which have been adapted into Indonesian. The results of the analysis showed a significant negative relationship between physical appearance perfectionism and Body satisfaction (r = -0.505, p < 0.01), which means that the higher the physical appearance perfectionism, the lower the Body satisfaction in TikTok users. Further research is recommended to explore different age groups or other social media platforms to expand the generalizability of the findings. Keywords: adolescents; Body satisfaction; physical appearance perfectionism; social media; tiktok

Abstract

Instrumen yang digunakan adalah Social Media Engagement Scale for Adolescents (SMES-A) dan Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire–Appearance Scales (MBSRQ–AS).

Abstract

The use of the internet is inseparable from everyday life. The ease of internet access makes many people, especially students, at risk of overusing the internet. However, excessive internet use can hurt mental health such as increased levels of stress, anxiety and depression. Previous studies have shown that positive religious coping can positively impact mental health. The purpose of this study was to determine the moderating role of positive religious coping on the relationship between internet overuse and mental health. This study used moderation analysis and tested three models. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling. The participants of this study were 147 undergraduate students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Bandung. This study used three measuring instruments, namely the modified GPIUS-2, religious coping scale and DASS-21 (Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale-21). The results showed that there was no positive moderating role of religious coping on the relationship between problematic internet use and mental health in the student sample. In addition, the correlation results showed that problematic internet use was positively associated with depression, anxiety and stress. In the college student sample, positive religious coping was not significantly related to mental health. This study implies that there is a need to develop psychoeducation that aims to teach practical solutions so that individuals can use the internet wisely. Future research can consider other variables such as other types of coping.

Abstract

The ease of access in this digitalization era makes social media the main means of obtaining information about other people's lives. Without realizing it, such actions can provoke individuals to evaluate themselves by comparing themselves with others in the social media frame. The purpose of this study is to find out which gender groups most often make social comparisons in the context of social media. Respondents in this study totaled 170 people who were born in 1997 to 2012 (Generation Z), TikTok users, and live in the Jabodetabek area. In this study, respondents were divided into two groups, namely the experimental group (female group with code 1) and the control group (male group with code 0). The social comparison measuring instrument uses a social comparison scale which has two dimensions, namely opinion and ability (Gibbons & Buunk, 1999). Then, it was modified by Moningka & Ratih Eminiar (2020) into the context of social media with a measuring instrument reliability coefficient of 0.793. The linear regression analysis method is used to determine how much influence gender as an independent variable has on social comparison which is the dependent variable. Data analysis was carried out with the help of JASP software Ver. 0.19.3.0. Based on the analysis conducted, it is known that gender has a significant influence of 2.9% on social comparison, with an R2 value of 0.029. In addition, it can also be concluded that women compare themselves more often on social media than men (R = 0.169; B = 0.169; P = 0.027).
