Abstract

The prevalence and incidence of rheumatoid arthritis vary across populations. Women are two to three times more likely to develop rheumatoid arthritis than men. In 2019, approximately 18 million people worldwide were living with rheumatoid arthritis. Of these, around 70% were women, while 55% were over 55 years of age. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the management of rheumatoid arthritis among pre-elderly and elderly individuals in the working area of Pasar Ikan Public Health Center, Bengkulu City, in 2025. This study employed a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was selected using total sampling and consisted of 41 pre-elderly and elderly individuals residing in the working area of Pasar Ikan Public Health Center, Bengkulu City. The univariate analysis showed that nearly half of the respondents (43.9%) had a moderate level of knowledge, while more than half (52.3%) demonstrated inappropriate management of rheumatoid arthritis. The bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the management of rheumatoid arthritis among pre-elderly and elderly individuals, with a p-value of 0.002. It can be concluded that there was a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the management of rheumatoid arthritis among pre-elderly and elderly individuals in the working area of Pasar Ikan Public Health Center, Bengkulu City, in 2025. Respondents are encouraged to seek accurate information about rheumatoid arthritis from reliable sources so that they can recognize its signs and symptoms and undertake appropriate and effective management.

Abstract

According to the United Nations International Emergency Fund (UNICEF) it is stated that 52% of pregnant mothers experience anxiety during pregnancy and World Health Organization (WHO) data shows that around (10%) of pregnant women worldwide experience anxiety disorders. Data obtained in Indonesia shows around 28.7% of pregnant mothers experience anxiety in the third trimester, mild anxiety 20%, moderate 53.3%, and severe 26.7% (Herlina, et al, 2023). One of the main factors of anxiety is husband support (Lestari et al, 2020). The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of husband support and pregnancy complications with the level of anxiety. This study used an analytical observational research design with a cross-sectional approach. The research sample totaled 40 respondents taken using total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires, then analyzed univariately and bivariately with the Chi-Square test. The results of univariate analysis show low anxiety (27.5%), moderate (32.5%) and severe (40%). Distribution of husband support (35%), and husband not supportive (65%). Distribution of knowledge of pregnancy complications (35%), not knowledgeable (65%). The results of bivariate analysis show an effect of husband support on the level of anxiety, with significance value p-value=0.009<0.05. The results of bivariate analysis show an effect of knowledge of pregnancy complications on the level of anxiety with a significant value p-value<0.001 (p<0.05) at Telaga Dewa Health Center, Bengkulu City 2025. The researchers suggest that health workers, especially midwives, and the community regarding the level of anxiety can be integrated into prenatal class education activities as one strategy to reduce the level of anxiety in pregnant mothers.

Abstract

before biological, psychological, and social maturity is fully established. In a third-trimester primigravida, this condition may be accompanied by physical discomfort, anemia, and childbirth-related anxiety, requiring care that extends beyond obstetric surveillance. This case report aimed to describe comprehensive biopsychosocial midwifery care for a 16-year-old third-trimester primigravida at Independent Midwifery Practice “U” in Kamal, Bangkalan Regency. A single-case design with four visits was implemented from March to June 2026. Assessment included history taking, physical and obstetric examinations, hemoglobin measurement, Poedji Rochjati risk scoring, and psychological screening using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. At the initial visit, the pregnancy was classified as high risk with a KSPR score of 10, hemoglobin of 10.8 g/dL, moderate anxiety with a HARS score of 21, and a low risk of depression with an EPDS score of 5. Interventions comprised education on pregnancy changes and birth preparedness, iron supplementation and nutritional counseling, deep-breathing relaxation, hypnotherapy with lavender aromatherapy, prenatal yoga, and husband involvement. Throughout follow-up, maternal and fetal conditions remained stable; hemoglobin increased to 13.0 g/dL and anxiety gradually decreased until no anxiety was documented at the final visit, while EPDS remained in the low-risk category. In this case, comprehensive care was accompanied by improved physical and psychological readiness for childbirth.
