Abstract

World Health Organization (2019) diarrhea is an environmentally-based disease that occurs in almost all geographical areas of the world. Diarrhea is the third leading cause of death in children aged 1-59 months. Globally, the WHO (World Health Organization) states that there are approximately 1.7 billion cases of diarrhea in children each year. More precisely, every year diarrhea kills around 443,832 children aged under 5 and an additional 50,851 children (WHO, 2024). The purpose of this study is to determine a correlation between environmental sanitation and the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in the Working Area of Sambirejo Health Center, Rejang Lebong in 2025. The research method used was descriptive quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample size of 72 people. The results of the univariate analysis showed that almost all respondents (38.9%) had an inadequate source of clean water, almost all respondents (29.2%) did not have access to a healthy toilet, almost all respondents (37.5%) had poor waste management, almost all respondents (43.1%) had poor sewage management, and nearly half of the respondents (36.1%) had poor wastewater management. The results of the bivariate analysis showed a correlation between clean water sources (0.000), sanitary toilets (p=0.000), waste management (p=0.002), and wastewater management (p=0.004) with the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers. There is a correlation between environmental sanitation and the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in the Working Area of Sambirejo Health Center, Rejang Lebong in 2025. The Health Center is expected to enhance its routine environmental health education programs for the community, particularly mothers with infants.

Abstract

Anxiety is a common psychological problem experienced by patients prior to surgery. High levels of anxiety can affect the patient's physiological condition and potentially worsen the surgical process. Deep breathing relaxation is a simple non-pharmacological intervention that can be used to reduce anxiety. This study aims to determine the effect of deep breathing relaxation on reducing anxiety in Pre-Operative Patients at RSUD Rejang Lebong Regency in 2025. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. The population consisted of 20 preoperative patients aged 17-50 years, selected using total sampling. The research instrument used APAIS questionnaire to assess anxiety. The intervention consisted of deep breathing relaxation techniques performed 4 hours before the patient entered the operating room and 1 hour before the patient entered the operating room. The deep breathing relaxation technique was administered for 15 minutes with breaks every 5 minutes. Data analysis was performed univariately for frequency distribution and bivariate using the Wilcoxon signed rank test. The results showed that before the deep breathing intervention, the majority of patients experienced mild anxiety (40%) and severe anxiety (35%). After the intervention, 40% of patients were in the non-anxious category, while severe anxiety decreased to 5% and no patients experienced panic. The Wilcoxon test results showed a Z value of -4.300 with P < 0.001, which means there is a significant difference between the anxiety levels before and after the intervention. The conclusion of this study is that deep breathing relaxation techniques are proven to be effective in reducing anxiety in preoperative patients. Nurses and patients are advised to apply deep breathing relaxation interventions as one of the efforts to reduce anxiety in preoperative patients.

Abstract

In 2024, the DPT-HB-Hib booster immunization coverage was 75.88% and the Measles/MR2 booster immunization coverage was 81.62%, with 76% of children receiving complete booster immunizations. Compared to the government's target of 100% booster immunization coverage for children under five, this achievement remains relatively low, falling short of the national target. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between maternal knowledge and the completeness of DPT-HB-Hib and Measles-Rubella booster immunizations among children under five in the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center (Puskesmas) working area in Bengkulu City in 2026. The research method used was descriptive research with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a population of 380 toddlers calculated using the Slovin formula, resulting in a sample size of 80 toddlers in the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center Work Area, Bengkulu City, in 2026. Univariate analysis results showed that almost half of the respondents (45%) had sufficient knowledge, and the majority (63.7%) had completed the DPT-HB-Hib booster immunization. Bivariate analysis results showed a relationship between maternal knowledge and the completeness of the DPT-HB-Hib booster immunization and measles-rubella booster immunization in toddlers, with a p-value of 0.000. It can be concluded that maternal knowledge is associated with the completeness of the DPT-HB-Hib booster immunization and measles-rubella booster immunization in toddlers in the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center Work Area, Bengkulu City, in 2026. The results of this study are expected to improve education and monitoring of booster immunizations to optimize DPT-HB-Hib and measles-rubella booster immunization coverage in toddlers.

Abstract

Mental health is a condition in which individuals can understand their potential, work well, cope with stress, and contribute to their community. WHO data (2020) reports that the global prevalence of mental health problems among people aged 10-19 has increased by 16%, with this age group being the most vulnerable to mental health problems. The purpose of this study is to examine a correlation between parenting styles and mental health among adolescents at SMKN 2 Argamakmur. This study used total random sampling techniques and obtained a sample size of 76 respondents. Data collection was conducted using questionnaires on adolescent mental health and parenting styles. Based on the results of univariate analysis, it is found that the majority of respondents had good mental health (64,5%) and a small number of respondents had permissive parenting (48,7%). Bivariate analysis showed a p-value of < 0.05, namely 0.001, which means that there is a correlation between parenting styles and mental health among adolescents at SMKN 2 Argamakmur. The researcher suggests that teachers and staff at SMKN 2 Argamakmur understand how parenting styles affect students' mental health and behavior. This will help teachers recognize signs of mental health disorders related to parenting styles at home.

Abstract

Uric acid, commonly known as gouty arthritis, is the end product of purine metabolism, which is a component of nucleic acids found in the cell nucleus. Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health for 2022 shows an increase in gout cases from 72,675 in 2021 to 102,995 in 2022. At the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center in Bengkulu City, the number of elderly people suffering from uric acid was recorded at 80 in 2025. The incidence of gout is influenced by various factors such as physical activity, purine intake, and genetic history. This study aims to identify the factors influencing the incidence of gout among the elderly at the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center in Bengkulu City in 2025. The method used in this study was an analytical study with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of all elderly individuals visiting the Jembatan Kecil Community Health Center in Bengkulu City, with a sample size of 107 respondents. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling. The results of the univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents (64.5%) had low physical activity levels; a portion of respondents had low and moderate purine intake (35.5% each); the majority of respondents (51.4%) had a family history of gout; and the majority of respondents (51.4%) had elevated uric acid levels. The results of the bivariate Chi-square test analysis indicate that there is a significant association between physical activity and the incidence of gout (p = 0.000), a significant association between purine intake and the incidence of gout (p = 0.000), and a significant association between family history and the incidence of gout in the elderly (p = 0.000). It is hoped that the elderly can maintain a healthy diet and increase their physical activity to prevent an increase in uric acid levels
