Abstract

Aldino Ricky (33190082), The Music on Developing Self-Esteem Main Character in London Town Movie. Movies and music are examples of literature as a medium for expressing and developing one's potential, capacity, talent, and skill. Movies and music have been investigated extensively in the literary world. One of the studies that have been done by academics examines on the impact or effect that literature, and particularly music, has on a person's sense of self-esteem. The writer chooses London Town movie as the media of analysis regarding the impact of music in developing self-esteem. In conducting this study, the writer uses qualitative descriptive method as the research method. In addition, the grand theory of analysis, the writer uses Cooper-smith’s self-esteem theory. The objectives of this study are to identify how music affects how the major characters' self-esteem develops in movies and to identify the type of self-esteem the main characters develop. The results of analysis are: First and foremost, music contributes to the improvement of the self-esteem of the main character through the acquisition of strong and significant behavior, virtue, and competence. Second, as a result of the influence of music, the main character gains a high level of self-esteem.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify ambiguity in the lyrics of the song entitled "The Best Day" created and sung by Taylor Swift. This research uses descriptive methods to analyze the data. The research data was collected from the lyrics of the song "The Best Day". The result of this research shows that: There are eight ambiguities, four structural ambiguities and four lexical ambiguities in the lyrics of the song "The Best Day". Taylor Swift uses more than a few ambiguities to tell her real life as a child through her song lyrics, such as: homonymy, homophones, homographs, full homonymy, partial homonymy, polysemy, morphology, and syntax. She shares that when she was five years old, she could already feel everything that happened in her life, and she believed that her mother was not afraid of anything that harmed her, her mother would always take care of her. She also felt that her father was the greatest father in the world, always taught her how to be a strong child. Swift was also always proud of her little brother; she taught that he was better than her. This study is important to know the message or meaning that the singer or song writer wants to convey in his/her work.

Abstract

This research focuses on explaining how communication technology influences the reading interest of Indonesian language students at UIN SU Medan. Communication technology among teenagers or students greatly influences their interest in reading, especially students who use communication technology such as smartphones or the internet are more interested because apart from that they can access content or features that are considered more interesting than reading books. The research method used is causal associative (influence) research using a quantitative approach. The aim of this research is to determine the significant influence of Communication Technology on reading interest of Indonesian Tadris Language Students at UIN SU Medan. The results of the research are the influences caused by the current development of communication technology, communication technology certainly has both positive and negative impacts on its users. Abstract

Karya sastra merupakan karya imajinatif yang dipengaruhi oleh fenomena-fenomena yang terjadi di sekitar pengarang. Karya seni merupakan manifestasi imajinasi pengarang yang banyak diinspirasi oleh fenomena-fenomena kehidupan sosial masyarakat di sekitar pengarang. Ahmad Tohari adalah salah satu dari sekian pengarang yang menghadirkan masalah-masalah kehidupan sosial dalam karyanya. Karya Ahmad Tohari banyak mengangkat tentang kehidupan masyarakat desa dan orang-orang berekonomi lemah. Kumpulan cerpen yang berjudul “Mata yang Enak Dipandang” adalah kumpulan dari beberapa cerpen Ahmad Tohari yang beberapa diantaranya demuat dalam majalah Kartini dan Kompas. Cerpen ini banyak mengisahkan kondisi sosial masyrakat pedesaan dan kehidupan orang-orang yang secara ekonomi kurang mampu. Salah satu contoh karya Ahmad Tohari yang mengisahkan kehidupan masyarakat pedesaan adalah dalam cerpennya yang berjudul “Bila Jebris Ada di Rumah Kami”. Cerpen ini menceritakan tentang kondisi masyarakat kampung yang dulunya terkenal sebagai kampung yang melahirkan pelacur-pelacur. Akan tetapi, keadaan kondisi kampung tersebut perlahan-lahan berubah menjadi lebih baik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah konflik sosial yang terjadi dalam cerpen Bila Jabris Ada di Rumah Kami yaitu terdapat konflik internal dan konflik eksternal.

Abstract

Lirik lagu adalah karya sastra yang berisi curahan perasaan, emosi, dan ekspresi pribadi pengalaman berbentuk jiwa dalam bentuk susunan kata dalam sebuah lagu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menemukan dan mendeskripsikan aspek stilistika dari lirik lagu Dealova . Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini meliputi analisis aspek stilistika bahasa kiasan dan citraan serta desain implementasi penelitian ini dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Metode penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dan menggunakan pendekatan stilistika. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah lirik lagu dealova. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, kesimpulannya adalah 1) aspek stilistika bahasa kiasan yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu dealova, yaitu perbandingan bahasa kiasan, metafora,, personifikasi,aspek stilistika citraan yang terdapat dalam lirik lagu Dealova yaitu citraan visual, citraan pendengarana, Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi bagi peneliti lain yang meneliti aspek stilistika dalam lirik lagu Dealova serta sebagai referensi bahan ajar sastra bagi guru dalam pembelajaran di sekolah
