Anthropos: Jurnal Antropologi Sosial dan Budaya(Journal of Social and Cultural Anthropology) is a Journal of Social and Cultural Anthropology for information and communication resources for academics, and observers of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Educational Social and Cultural Anthropology/Sociology, Methodology of Social and Cultural Anthropology/Sociology. The published paper is the result of research, reflection, and actual critical study with respect to the themes of Social and Cultural Anthropology/Sociology. All papers are blind peer-review. Abstract

The use of the cap "Songkok Recca" is believed to have begun in the reign of the 31st Bone King named Andi Mappanyukki. The "Songkok Recca" hat used can show the social strata of the wearer. This study aims to look at public perceptions in the use of these hats associated with the social stratification of the Bugis community in Bone Regency. The study was conducted in Awangpone District, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi Province, using a qualitative approach, with a purposive sampling technique in determining informants. The method of collecting data using observation and interviews, with the number of informant’s as many as ten people. Data analysis techniques in this study are qualitative data analysis techniques. The results show that there a shift in the use of "Songkok Recca" hats today. In terms of social stratification, the use of the hat "Songkok Recca" no longer shows the degree of someone, but nowadays it is more described as a form of local wisdom of the Bugis community in Bone Regency.

Abstract

This article examines non-formal education which is not less important than formal education from all levels of education. Non-formal education is also expected to meet the needs of the population in terms of knowledge, information and technology. All of that becomes very necessary to improve the quality and standard of living of the people. Non-formal education is carried out to obtain relevant skills for the provision of daily living. The skills obtained, make the community have an independent mental attitude, renewal and development for the progress and development of the country. Independence in the fulfillment of everyday life, which is from expertise acquired, to be able and can be enjoyed, comes from one's own business. Likewise the results obtained, can be exchanged with other parties. Thus the ultimate goal is to empower the community, enable and build the ability to advance towards a better life on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

Domestic waste is one of the pollutant in the environment, especially water sources. Disposal waste without processing and population growth affects the waste disposal. The community must obliged to manage domestic waste as an effort to protect the environment. The aim of this study was to determine the success of the community in managing communal septic tanks as a shared resource in managing domestic wastes. This research uses descriptive qualitative method by taking the case in RW 05, Cigadung Village, Bandung City. Communal septic tank is an facility that can accommodate high volume of domestic wastes. The existence of communal septic tanks is not easy considering the public does not understand the workings of communal septic tanks. The existence of communal septic tanks and their sustainability is much determined by the community leader and the government as facilitators. The role of kinship has an important meaning in solving problems in the community. Water resources are maintained from the local values to the maintenance of communal septic tanks as a shared resource, are carried out by community social organizations through overall collaboration in the activities of the posyandu, RW and other community activities through facilitation of the local government.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the mission of the Protestant Karo Batak Church which is directly related to cultural preservation, knowing the causes of Karo people who are congregations of GBKP in Medan Selayang District are better able to maintain their culture than those who are not GBKP congregations and activities and efforts made by the Karo Batak Church Protestant in preserving and maintaining the Karo Batak culture. To obtain the necessary data, the researcher uses field research methods with a qualitative descriptive approach. Then the collecting technique is done by observing the research location, namely GBKP in Medan Selayang District. The results of this study indicate that the GBKP has a mission that is directly related to cultural preservation. This mission is an effort made to realize the GBKP's vision, which is "Awful for the heart of Ni Christ (Applicable as the Body of Christ)". The survival of the Karo Batak tribe culture in the GBKP Church in Medan Selayang District is due to the culture that is preserved does not conflict with the teachings of the GBKP and the growing awareness of the congregation to preserve and maintain the culture.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the meaning, influence and views of the community in using horses in Alas ethnic tribe marriages in Southeast Aceh. In this study, researchers used a type of qualitative research with a descriptive approach regarding the meaning, influence and views of calm horses in the tradition of the Alas Tribe wedding ceremony in the Southeast Aceh Regency. The results obtained in the study were the use of horses part of the Alas ethnic tribe wedding ceremony originating from the King's tribe pedestal, so that until now still maintaining horses in marriage, the influence of horses in the Alas Tribe wedding tradition in Southeast Aceh was very influential because the tribe used horses as vehicle equipment for the two brides and the views of the outside community of the Alas Ethnic group regarding the tradition of riding horses in the Alas ethnic tribe wedding in Southeast Aceh, that this horse was too excessive and saw social status. The conclusions of the meaning of horses in the traditions of the Ethnic Alas's marriage as strength, intelligence and freedom from that tribe alas still maintain the tradition of using horses in their marriages.
