Abstract

The Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training UIN Sumatera Utara requires a more efficient and integrated library management system to support the learning process. The goal of this study is to create an electronic library information system (E-Perpus) that allows lecturers, students, and academics to digitally access library collection information. We designed this information system to streamline the process of searching, borrowing, returning, and managing library collection data. This study employs a system development approach, which involves stages of needs analysis, design, implementation, and system testing. Problems that occur at the research location of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education UIN Sumatera Utara include difficulties in accessing library information, limitations of the manual system, and lack of data integration. The design process for the web-based E-Perpus application begins with an analysis of user needs, followed by interface design and system development using the Rational Unified Process methodology. We designed this application to streamline the process of searching, borrowing, and returning books. The test results show that the application functions well on various devices, with a responsive and user-friendly interface. Testing was carried out using a black box, and all features ran well. The study yielded a prototype of the E-Perpus application, which includes features for book searching, information availability, online book borrowing and return, and data management for library members. We expect the implementation of this E-Perpus system to enhance library management efficiency and streamline user access to the necessary learning resources.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a web-based attendance system with check-in and check-out features validated using geolocation for internship students at the Organization Division of the Regional Secretariat of Binjai. The main issue identified at the research site is the inefficiency and inaccuracy of attendance tracking, which is still conducted manually and prone to recording errors. To address this issue, the study adopted the Waterfall methodology, which includes the stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The results indicate that the developed attendance application can accurately record attendance by validating geographic locations. Key features implemented in the system include user authentication, data encryption to protect personal information, and geolocation validation to ensure attendance can only be recorded at authorized locations. System testing demonstrated high accuracy in recording attendance in areas with adequate GPS signals. However, in areas with weak signals, geolocation accuracy needs improvement. The application is also equipped with a reporting feature, enabling real-time monitoring of attendance data. Overall, this attendance system not only enhances the efficiency and accuracy of attendance tracking processes but also supports data transparency and security. Further development is recommended to improve performance in areas with weak signals and to incorporate advanced analytics features for attendance reporting.

Abstract

In the digital age, advancements in information technology play a significant role in optimizing business processes. This study presents the design and implementation of a web-based E-Borrowing Information System tailored for PT Telkom Akses to address inefficiencies in equipment borrowing management. The current manual borrowing process often leads to delays, data inaccuracies, and administrative errors, impacting productivity and transparency. The proposed solution integrates real-time features for booking, managing, and tracking equipment loans. The system employs PHP and MySQL for backend functionality and HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the user interface, following the waterfall development methodology. To evaluate its effectiveness, the system underwent functionality testing (Black Box Testing) and usability assessments. Results confirm significant improvements in process efficiency, transparency, and administrative accuracy. The system enables users to complete borrowing transactions quickly, with features to monitor equipment status, register personal accounts, and manage data in a structured manner. Additionally, the “Admin Dashboard” enhances overall system supervision through real-time monitoring and efficient management tools. This research highlights the transformative impact of web-based technology on equipment loan management, demonstrating scalability for broader application in similar settings. The study underscores the potential of well-designed information systems to enhance operational efficiency, employee satisfaction, and organizational productivity.

Abstract

This study develops a web-based system to support the repair and handling of damaged items at the Helvetia Customer Service Unit (ULP) of PLN. Previously, the recording and monitoring of damaged items at ULP Helvetia were conducted manually, often resulting in repair delays and inaccurate information. This web-based system is designed to streamline the reporting, recording, and tracking processes of repair statuses in real-time. With a user-friendly interface, users can easily report damages, monitor repair statuses, and access the repair history of each item. Implementation results indicate that this system successfully improves work efficiency, reduces handling time, and provides more accurate data for management. This system is expected to enhance operational performance at ULP PLN Helvetia and can be implemented in other PLN units.

Abstract

Every fieldwork activity report made by the employees of ULP PLN Helvetia is still fairly ineffective because it does not have a good information system. Employees solely generate reports by completing forms provided by their superiors. The impact of this problem lies in the lack of neatness in the data and fieldwork activity reports generated by employees, which naturally leads to ineffective and unstructured work activity reports for the company. To address this issue, we are developing a web-based system for fieldwork activity report information, which simplifies the process for employees and superiors to access neat and structured report data. The implementation of this system has a significant impact on improving efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in managing fieldwork activity reports. The process of recording and managing data becomes faster, more organized, and reduces errors. This study's findings suggest that a web-based system for fieldwork activity report information can streamline data collection for both employees and supervisors. It facilitates the creation of well-structured reports, complete with fieldwork evidence photos, employee work activity entries, and supervisor approval. The system also allows for PDF printing of the report results.

Abstract

Agencies must effectively manage employee leave management as one of their important responsibilities. Currently, many agencies, including the Dinas Penanaman Modal dan Pelayanan Terpadu Satu Pintu (DPMPTSP) Kota Medan, still use manual methods in handling employee leave applications, namely by manually creating leave letters using templates and submitting them to the Head of the Personnel Sub-Division for approval. This manual process is time-consuming, prone to errors, and makes it difficult to manage leave data. To overcome this problem, a web-based employee-leave application system at DPMPTSP Medan uses the PHP programming language and MySQL database. The design of this website involves several stages, including interviews, data collection, observation, and data analysis. The design of the employee leave website is then carried out by analyzing and designing each component using UML. This system is designed to simplify the leave application process, provide easier access to employees, and minimize administrative errors. The results of this study indicate that the developed system has succeeded in increasing the efficiency of the leave application process. Functional and security tests conducted showed that the application functions according to specifications and is able to maintain data integrity. This system makes it easier for employees to apply for leave because it can be done anywhere and allows the personnel department to verify and approve applications more quickly and accurately.

Abstract

Social media sentiment analysis has become an important approach in understanding public opinion on strategic issues, including the discourse on the relocation of the national capital. This study aims to compare the performance of Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Random Forest (RF) algorithms in classifying the sentiment of public comments on Instagram. A total of 794 comment data were collected using web scraping techniques with Selenium and BeautifulSoup, then divided into 80% training data and 20% test data. The classification process was conducted after the text preprocessing stage, which included case folding, tokenizing, filtering, and stemming. The experimental results show that SVM achieved an accuracy of 75.0% with precision 0.7200, recall 0.7800, and F1-score 0.7488. Meanwhile, Random Forest performed better with an accuracy of 79.4%, precision of 0.7795, recall of 0.8200, and F1-score of 0.7992. Evaluation based on sentiment class shows that SVM can only achieve a correct rate of 75.0% in the positive class and 75.1% in the negative class, while Random Forest excels with 79.4% in the positive class and 79.3% in the negative class. These findings confirm that Random Forest is more optimal and consistent than SVM in sentiment analysis based on social media comments. This study recommends the use of ensemble learning algorithms such as Random Forest in similar studies, as well as further development with larger datasets and deep learning approaches to improve model accuracy and generalization.

Abstract

This study aims to design and implement a web-based complaint system at the Medan Religious Training and Education Center as a solution to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the complaint handling process. The problems encountered so far are that complaint management is still carried out manually, resulting in delays in response, lack of transparency, and potential data loss. The system development method used is the Unified Modeling Language (UML), with a focus on Use Case Diagrams and Activity Diagrams to model the complaint process flow in a structured manner. The system implementation was carried out using web-based technology, with black box testing as the testing method to ensure the system's functionality aligns with user needs. Testing results showed that all core system features, such as complaint registration, status tracking, and feedback provision, functioned according to specifications and produced valid outputs. With this system, the complaint process became faster, well-documented, and monitorable in real-time, thereby supporting improvements in public service quality within the relevant agency. This research provides practical contributions to the development of complaint management information systems and can serve as a reference for similar implementations in other government agencies.

Abstract

Respiratory diseases are one of the health disorders whose prevalence continues to increase and require rapid and accurate diagnosis to support effective medical treatment. This study aims to develop an expert system for diagnosing respiratory diseases using the forward chaining method. This method was chosen for its ability to perform data-driven reasoning, starting from the facts of the symptoms experienced by the patient, which then trigger certain rules to produce a diagnostic conclusion. The system is designed with a knowledge base containing validated data on symptoms and types of respiratory diseases, as well as an inference engine to process diagnostic rules. The system is implemented using a web-based programming language with database integration that stores information on symptoms, diseases, and reasoning rules. Test results show that the system is capable of providing quick and accurate initial diagnoses based on the symptom data entered, and can serve as a tool for medical professionals and the public in detecting respiratory diseases early. This research is expected to contribute to the development of artificial intelligence-based health technology that supports more effective and efficient medical services.

Abstract

Digital transformation in data management has become a strategic necessity for telecommunications companies such as PT Telkom Indonesia, particularly in Regional 1 Sumatra. One of the challenges faced is the manual process of archiving PED (Planning, Engineering, & Deployment) data, which is prone to data loss, delayed access to information, and low operational efficiency. To address these issues, this study aims to develop a web-based data archiving system capable of managing PED data systematically, securely, and easily accessible by authorized users. The system development methodology used is Waterfall, starting from needs analysis, system design, implementation, to testing. The system was built using XAMPP as the development platform, PHP as the backend programming language, and MySQL as the database system. Testing was conducted using the Blackbox method to evaluate system functionality based on real-world user scenarios. The development results show that the system built is capable of effectively handling archiving processes, including document upload features, archive search, metadata input, and user access rights management. This system significantly improves work efficiency, recording accuracy, and data security. Thus, the PED archiving information system is expected to become a digital solution that supports operational transformation in Telkom Indonesia Regional 1 Sumatra.
