Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth the legal aspects and forms of professional responsibility in medical practice that takes place at the University of East Indonesia Hospital, an academic hospital that integrates service, education, and research functions. The main focus of the study is to understand the extent to which medical personnel (doctors and nurses) understand and apply laws and regulations such as Law No. 29 of 2004 concerning Medical Practice, the Indonesian Code of Medical Ethics (KODEKI), and the principles of informed consent in interactions with patients. This study uses a mixed method, namely a quantitative approach through questionnaires and a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews and analysis of medical documents. The results of the study indicate that the level of legal understanding of medical personnel is quite high, but various obstacles were found in the implementation of legal responsibility such as lack of adequate medical documentation, inconsistencies in the informed consent process, and the lack of an open and accountable medical incident reporting system. These findings indicate the importance of strengthening health law training for medical personnel, increasing awareness of ethical and legal responsibilities, and developing an effective audit and reporting system as an effort to protect patient rights as well as legal protection for medical personnel. This study is expected to be a reference for hospital management and medical education institutions in designing policies and training programs that support responsible and legal medical practices.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the quality of public services in Allang Village, Leihitu Barat Subdistrict, Central Maluku Regency using a qualitative approach based on the SERVQUAL model. The background of this research stems from the fact that public services at the village level, particularly in archipelagic regions such as Maluku, still face various challenges including limited infrastructure, low work discipline among village officials, and suboptimal digitalization of services. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving 8 village officials and 41 community service users. The results indicate that, in general, public service delivery in Allang Village falls into the category of fairly good. The dimensions of responsiveness and empathy are the most prominent, as reflected in the responsive, friendly attitudes and social concern of the village officials towards the community. Meanwhile, the tangible and reliability dimensions still require improvement, particularly regarding the adequacy of service facilities and the consistency of staff attendance. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening the capacity of village officials, improving infrastructure, and implementing technology-based service systems to enhance accountability and efficiency. This study is expected to serve as a reference in formulating village public service policies that are more professional, participatory, and sustainable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of product quality, price, and consumer knowledge on purchasing decisions of cajuput oil in Unet Village, Fena Fafan District, Buru Regency. The research employed a quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to consumers who have purchased local cajuput oil. The results indicate that product quality has a significant influence on purchasing decisions, followed by consumer knowledge and price. These findings emphasize that consumers prioritize product quality and the information they possess when making purchasing decisions, while price remains a consideration but is not the main factor. This study recommends improving product quality, educating consumers, and setting prices that reflect the value offered as strategies to increase buying interest.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of community satisfaction levels on the quality of public health services at the Tawiri Health Center, Teluk Ambon District, Ambon City. Using a quantitative research approach, the study collected and analyzed data to determine the relationship between satisfaction variables and service quality. The results showed that the community satisfaction variable has a positive and significant influence on the quality of services. This is supported by the significance value of 0.024, which is smaller than the standard value of 0.05, and the t-count of 71.153, which is greater than the t-table value of 1.676. These findings indicate that as community satisfaction increases, the perceived service quality also improves. The study concludes that good service quality leads to higher satisfaction among patients, increasing public trust in health services. Therefore, efforts to enhance patient satisfaction are crucial in improving service quality in public health facilities.

Abstract

English for Specific Purposes (ESP) has become an essential component of higher education, particularly for students majoring in health and business fields. This research aims to develop English learning materials tailored to the academic and professional needs of students at Institut Kesehatan dan Bisnis St. Fatimah Mamuju. The study applied the Research and Development (R&D) design using the Borg and Gall (1983) model, adapted into four stages: needs analysis, material design, expert validation, and try-out. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and classroom observations involving 60 students and 5 lecturers from both health and business programs. The findings revealed that students required practical English competencies such as medical terminology, patient communication, business correspondence, and presentation skills. The developed materials consisted of thematic modules integrating reading, speaking, writing, and listening exercises relevant to healthcare and business contexts. Expert validation indicated that the materials were feasible, user-friendly, and contextually appropriate. Furthermore, students reported improved motivation and confidence in using English for their specific academic and workplace needs. The study concludes that ESP-based materials are effective in bridging the gap between general English proficiency and professional requirements in health and business disciplines.

Abstract

Climate change is a global challenge affecting the sustainability of coastal and small island ecosystems. Tanakeke Island in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, is an area vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, such as sea level rise, coastal erosion, mangrove ecosystem degradation, and declining fisheries yields. This study aims to analyze the impacts of climate change on the coastal ecosystem of Tanakeke Island using qualitative and quantitative descriptive approaches. Data were obtained through field observations, biophysical condition measurements, community interviews, and literature studies. The results indicate significant damage to mangrove forests, increased coastal erosion of up to 2 meters per year, and a decline in marine biodiversity. Local communities are experiencing impacts in the form of reduced fish catches and increased socioeconomic vulnerability. In conclusion, Tanakeke Island requires ecosystem-based adaptation strategies and strengthening community capacity to cope with climate change.
