Abstract

Anemia in pregnant women is a public health problem that has serious impacts on both mothers and babies, including increasing the risk of childbirth complications, premature birth, low birth weight, and high maternal neonatal morbidity and mortality. Anemia prevention efforts have focused largely on iron supplementation, but additional strategies based on nutrient rich local foods are needed. This community service activity aims to empower Posyandu cadres through education on the use of local foods such as sweet potatoes, moringa leaves, and spinach in preventing anemia. The methods used included lectures, interactive discussions, and the use of leaflets as educational media. A total of 23 cadres participated in the activity with a pre test, counseling, and post test. The evaluation results showed an increase in knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of cadres. Good knowledge increased from 7 people (30.4%) to 17 people (73.9%). Good attitudes increased from 10 people (43.5%) to 15 people (65.2%), while good behavior increased from 7 people (30.4%) to 13 people (56.5%). This increase demonstrates a close relationship between cadre knowledge, attitudes, and behavior in anemia prevention efforts. Therefore, empowering cadres through local food-based education has proven effective and can be a sustainable strategy for improving maternal health at the community level. Abstract

Health is a basic right that greatly affects the quality of life of the community, but there are still many individuals who are unaware of the importance of regular health checkups and voluntary blood donation. Based on this background, this community service activity aims to raise awareness among the community, especially students at the State Islamic University (UIN) Salatiga, about the importance of basic health checkups and contributing to blood donation activities. The problems faced are low public participation in voluntary blood donation and a lack of understanding about early detection of metabolic diseases. The objectives of this activity are to provide free health checkups, organize voluntary blood donations, and provide education about healthy lifestyles and the importance of regular blood donation. The methods used in this activity were educational, preventive, and collaborative approaches, involving electromedical technology for blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol checks using portable devices that enable fast and accurate results. The results of this activity showed high participant participation in blood donation and health check-ups, as well as enthusiasm among participants for the health education provided. This activity successfully raised public awareness about the importance of health check-ups and blood donation, and introduced the use of effective electromedical technology in facilitating efficient health check-ups.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of quiz competitions as an interactive learning medium to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding, particularly regarding humanitarian (Red Cross) education. The analysis shows that quiz competitions effectively improve students’ comprehension of humanitarian principles. Through this approach, students not only strengthen their cognitive abilities in understanding Red Cross concepts but also develop humanitarian values, discipline, and social responsibility. The data reveal a significant improvement in participants’ understanding after the competition. Before the event, 83% of participants were in the low category, 4% in the fair category, and 13% in the good category. After the competition, 75% of participants reached the fair category, and 25% achieved the good category. Contributing factors to this improvement include adequate learning preparation, understanding of the material through quiz questions, and strong intrinsic motivation to achieve. Therefore, quiz competitions can serve as an innovative and effective learning strategy to strengthen students’ knowledge, attitudes, and character development in both primary and secondary education settings.

Abstract

The empowerment of salted peanut MSMEs in Susukan Subdistrict, Banjarnegara Regency, was carried out by implementing a peanut roasting machine equipped with advanced technology, including automatic temperature control and an even stirring system. This machine has a capacity of 25 kg and 10 kg, which is designed to improve efficiency, quality consistency, and the production capacity of local MSMEs. Previously, the roasting process was done manually with strict monitoring of temperature and stirring, which affected quality stability and took a long time. The implementation of this machine reduces dependence on individual skills and provides more precise control over roasting temperature and time, which in turn produces salted peanuts with more consistent quality and reduces losses due to defective products. In addition to increasing production efficiency, this machine also opens up opportunities for local artisans to be more involved in the production process without having to possess high skills. This program not only increases the productivity of MSMEs but also creates new jobs, provides technical skills training, and improves the welfare of the local community. Grant support from the Ministry of Education, Technology, and Innovation (Kemendikstaintek) through the BEM Berdampak scheme facilitated the smooth implementation of this machine, enabling the project to run successfully. The application of this technology has had a significant social and economic impact on salted peanut MSMEs and serves as an example of a technology-based economic empowerment model that can be applied in other regions to encourage more inclusive and sustainable local economic growth.

Abstract

The BanjarSihat application outreach and socialization program aims to raise public awareness about HIV/AIDS through a technology-based approach. The program combines three main methods: outreach, training, and mentoring. Outreach is conducted to provide basic information about HIV/AIDS, how it is transmitted, and preventive measures that can be taken. Training is provided to facilitate the use of the BanjarSihat application, which is designed to provide easy access to health information related to HIV/AIDS and other health services. Through mentoring, participants are guided to use the application effectively, ensuring they can access information accurately and use the application's features to monitor their health. The results achieved show a significant impact in increasing awareness about HIV/AIDS in the community. Before using the application, only 40% of participants had a good understanding of HIV/AIDS, but afterwards, this figure increased to 90%. In addition, the use of applications for health education increased from 20% to 80%, and the frequency of HIV/AIDS prevention awareness also increased from 15% to 70%. Community participation in each activity also exceeded the set targets, with counseling and training activities reaching more than 100% of the expected targets. The BanjarSihat application not only provides accurate information but also encourages the community to be more active in HIV/AIDS prevention.

Abstract

The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector is very important to the Indonesian economy. However, many MSMEs still face challenges, especially in the areas of digital literacy and business law. Many business owners lack official documentation due toa lack of understanding about the importance of the Business Identification Number (NIB), whileMSME products struggle to compete in the market due to a lack of expertise inutilizing digital technology. Students from UIN Salatiga implemented an NIB outreach programand computer literacy improvement program in Jetis Village, Bandungan District,Bandungan, Semarang Regency, as part of the Community Service Program(PPM). Through direct mentoring, observation, and interviews, this research used qualitative methodology with a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The results of the activity show that MSMEs have begun touse digital platforms to help market their products and are increasingly aware of theimportance of the Business Identification Number (NIB) and the steps required toobtain it through the OSS system. In addition, several entrepreneurs whoreceived assistance from students successfully obtained their NIB. Throughthe formation of small support groups, this activity increased social solidarityamong MSMEs while also enhancing individual capacity. Thus, this programpromoted community economic independence and increased the competitiveness of MSMEs in Jetis Village.

Abstract

Adolescents are an age group vulnerable to the influence of modern, unhealthy lifestyles, such as fast food consumption, high-sugar drinks, and low physical activity. This condition has the potential to reduce adolescent health in the long term. Indonesia is rich in spices that have the potential to be used as an alternative to support a healthy lifestyle based on natural ingredients. This community service activity aims to increase adolescent knowledge and awareness about the benefits of spices as an effort to revitalize a natural lifestyle. The activity was held on January 13, 2026, at SMK Penda 3 Jatipuro, Karanganyar, involving 66 students. The methods used were lectures, discussions, and questions and answers, with leaflets as a medium for education. The results of the activity showed that all participants had consumed herbal medicine and showed a high interest in using spices to treat various minor health problems, such as itchy skin, menstrual pain, acne, and blood sugar management. The ongoing discussion showed an increase in participants' understanding of the benefits, safety, and limitations of spice use. This activity had a positive impact in the form of increased knowledge, enthusiasm, and motivation of adolescents to adopt a healthy lifestyle based on natural ingredients. Education on the use of spices has the potential to be an effective promotional and preventive strategy while also supporting the preservation of local wisdom among adolescents.

Abstract

The capacity building program for Indonesian Red Cross Volunteers through integrated family care training with field practice is crucial. The background of this activity is based on the increasing need for elderly health services that require the support of skilled caregivers, while the capacity of volunteers to provide basic assistance in family care is still limited. Therefore, the role of Indonesian Red Cross Volunteers as Cargivers is very important in the quality of life of the elderly, especially in improving physical and psychosocial needs, especially in conditions of dementia. (Syifak, S et al., 2022). The implementation method includes the preparation stage, training (delivery of family care and basic assistance materials), and direct practice in nursing homes. Evaluation was carried out using a pre-test and post-test approach as well as observation of participant skills during field practice. Practice-based training was chosen because it has been proven effective in improving the competence and confidence of caregivers in providing care (Amin Y, et al. 2025). The results of the activity show how the knowledge and skills of volunteers in carrying out basic assistance and elderly care have increased. Field practice provides real experience that strengthens participants' application skills in real situations. Thus, this activity is effective in increasing the capacity of PMI volunteers in family care. Similar programs need to be developed sustainably to improve the quality of community-based healthcare services, particularly for the elderly.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to develop a maintenance model for a 3 kWp solar power plant (PLTS) system that is suitable for implementation in small-to-medium public service areas in Sayung, specifically the pilgrimage area of the Tomb of Sheikh Abdullah Mudzaki. The coastal setting of tidal flooding, abrasion, high humidity, and limited field access requires a more disciplined operation and maintenance (O&M) approach than typical inland locations. The methods used include synthesis of evidence from initial scans of Consensus and Scite, verification of official regional and national sources, and in-depth analysis of international standards and literature on PLTS O&M, performance monitoring, humidity/corrosion, and community-based electrification management. The synthesis results indicate that a 3 kW hybrid configuration with a 48 V battery is the most balanced option for locations requiring a steady supply when the grid is disrupted, while an on-grid system is cheaper but dependent on the grid, and an off-grid system is more independent but requires more stringent battery and charge controller design. The recommended maintenance program combines simple daily-weekly inspections by local operators, monthly-quarterly inspections by trained technicians, recording of logbook-based performance indicators, and community training emphasizing occupational safety, module cleaning, connection checks, and disturbance response. This article presents a draft maintenance schedule, training curriculum, cost estimates, monitoring-evaluation indicators, and coastal risk mitigation strategies that are ready to be adapted into a community service journal manuscript.
