Abstract

This community engagement program aimed to enhance the understanding and participation of residents in Rejosari Subdistrict, East Semarang District, Semarang City, regarding the importance of obtaining halal certification. Halal certification serves as a quality assurance mechanism for partner products produced by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Limited information, insufficient coaching, and the perception that halal certification procedures are overly complex remain common barriers among MSME partners, including those in Rejosari. The program therefore focused on delivering knowledge and strengthening understanding of MSME halal certification to encourage participants to pursue certification and, in turn, improve marketing performance. The results indicate that participants developed greater awareness of the importance of halal certification and improved understanding of how to obtain it. Nevertheless, continued assistance and more technical training are required to help MSME actors navigate the halal certification application procedures more effectively.

Abstract

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in the Indonesian economy, contributing 61.97% to Gross Domestic Product and employing 97% of the national workforce. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of branding and creative product design training in increasing the capacity of MSMEs in Semarang City. The research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, involving 60 MSMEs divided into experimental and control groups. The training, conducted over 8 weeks, covered branding concepts, packaging design, digital marketing strategies, and visual identity development. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group, with a 68.5% increase in branding capacity, a 45.2% increase in average turnover, and a 52.7% increase in the number of customers. A t-test showed a significant difference (p<0.05) between the experimental and control groups. These findings confirm that branding and product design training effectively increases the competitiveness and business performance of MSMEs. Practical implications demonstrate the need for structured training programs and ongoing mentoring for MSMEs to optimize local economic potential.

Abstract

MSMEs play a crucial role in supporting both regional and national economic growth. However, the advancement of digital technology requires MSME operators to possess an adequate understanding of how technology can be leveraged for business development. A persistent challenge for MSMEs is a limited understanding of the digital skills that can be utilized to foster product innovation and enhance marketing efforts. This situation was observed among MSMEs belonging to the IKM Pajarakan Maju group in Probolinggo Regency—specifically Lili Bordir, Cindy Bordir, and Holifah Keripik. This community service initiative aimed to enhance MSME operators' understanding of the importance of digital skills in supporting product innovation and business marketing. The activity was conducted through a collaboration between Universitas Hafshawaty Zainul Hasan (UNHASA) and Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jawa Timur (UPNVJT), employing a participatory approach that included observations, field visits, sharing sessions, interactive discussions, and evaluations. The results indicate that MSME operators gained valuable insights into using digital media for promotion, the importance of establishing a business identity on digital platforms, and opportunities for product innovation enabled by digital technology. Furthermore, the activity raised participants' awareness regarding the necessity of adapting to technological advancements to boost business competitiveness. Thus, this community service initiative has made a positive contribution to improving MSME operators' digital skills, serving as a foundational step toward developing businesses that are more adaptable to the evolving digital economy.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to assist PT Lianhua Leather Industry in preparing for the external audit of the Integrated Management System based on ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018 conducted by PT CCI Kualitas Insani as the certification body. The assistance focused on the Stage 1 audit through document review to ensure compliance with the requirements of the international management system standards. The methods employed included field observation, document review, interviews with relevant personnel, external audit implementation, Audit Report preparation, and assistance in completing the identified Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs). The audit results identified several issues requiring Corrective Actions, including the absence of documented Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), the lack of a documented Competency Matrix within the Human Resources Development (HRD) Division, the need to improve environmental management practices, inadequate customer complaint handling procedures, and the necessity to enhance domestic wastewater management. These findings were addressed through document development, improvement recommendations, and the implementation of Corrective Actions, which were subsequently verified by the auditors. The program enhanced employees' understanding of ISO requirements, strengthened the effectiveness of the Integrated Management System implementation, and supported the company's successful compliance with the certification requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018.

Abstract

Teachers' emotional regulation is a critical aspect of early childhood education, yet teachers frequently experience job stress due to misconceptions regarding children's tantrum behaviors. This community service (PKM) program aimed to enhance Kindergarten teachers' emotional regulation capacity through neuroscience-based psychoeducation. The program's partners were Kindergarten teachers who reported stress vulnerability and reactive tendencies when dealing with tantrums. The intervention method involved interactive psychoeducation integrating brain development concepts, specifically the roles of the Amygdala and the Prefrontal Cortex (PFC), followed by qualitative reflective evaluation sessions. The evaluation results indicated a significant cognitive reframing among teachers. Prior to the intervention, teachers attributed tantrums to children's misbehavior, which triggered negative emotional responses. Post-intervention, teachers perceived tantrums as an expression of the biological limitations of a developing child. This paradigm shift reduced emotional tension, enhanced empathy, and increased teachers' self-efficacy in managing classroom dynamics. Neuroscience-based psychoeducation is proven effective in providing long-term impacts on teachers' psychological well-being and the quality of caregiving in schools.
