Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of an outdoor learning-based learning model on improving students' cognitive learning outcomes. The outdoor learning model is implemented through learning activities outside the classroom that link direct experience with the subject matter. The research method used was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of high school students divided into two groups, namely the experimental and the control groups. Cognitive learning outcome data were collected through objective tests and analyzed using parametric statistical tests. The results revealed that there was a significant difference between the cognitive learning outcomes of students who participated in the outdoor learning model and those who used conventional learning. Therefore, the outdoor learning model can improve cognitive abilities and active student engagement in the learning process

Abstract

Work stress among hospital healthcare workers is a significant occupational health issue  that affects psychological well-being and healthcare service quality. Hospital work environments are characterized by high job demands, time pressure, emotional responsibilities, and complex organizational systems that increase exposure to psychosocial risks. This study aimed to analyze psychosocial risk factors associated with work stress among hospital healthcare workers. A systematic literature review using a PRISMA-based approach was conducted by analyzing 28 primary research articles published between 2019 and 2024 retrieved from PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The findings indicate that high workload, time pressure, role conflict, role ambiguity, and low organizational support are the most consistent psychosocial risk factors contributing to increased work stress. In contrast, social and organizational support, adaptive coping strategies, and individual resilience function as protective factors that reduce stress levels. These findings highlight that work stress among hospital healthcare workers is primarily shaped by the interaction between job demands and job resources as described in the Job Demands–Resources model. Therefore, organizational-level psychosocial risk management strategies, including workload regulation, supportive leadership, and strengthening institutional support systems, are essential to improve healthcare workers’ psychological well-being and maintain hospital service quality.

Abstract

Marshmallows are soft candies produced using gelling agents such as gelatin, pectin, or starch, and typically contain 12-20% water. Previous research has explored the incorporation of natural antioxidants into marshmallows, identifying corn silk as a particularly promising ingredient due to its high antioxidant content. This study investigates the impact of corn silk extract (Zea mays L.) on the physical and chemical properties of marshmallows. Employing a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) withfive treatments and four replications. the study varied the concentration of corn silk extract (10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%). The variables measured included water, ash, vitamin C, tannin, antioxidant activity, texture, and color. The results showed that corn silk extract variation had a significant effect (p< 0.05) on the chemical and physical properties of marshmallows including water, ash, sucrose, vitamin C, tannin, and antioxidant activity, texture and color. The best treatment was P5 (50% corn silk extract) with a vitamin C content of 62.87%. tannin 1.96%. antioxidant activity 55.8%, texture 136.16%, L color 65.48. a* color 6.42. and b* color 19.42. This study demonstrates the potential of adding corn silk extract to marshmallows to enhance their nutritional value and functional properties. The findings of this research can serve as a valuable reference for the development of healthier and more nutritious marshmallow products.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in driving local economy in rural areas of Indonesia. Using quantitative approach with primary data from 250 MSMEs in five districts in Central Java during 2022-2024 period, this research shows that MSMEs provide significant contribution to rural community income increase by 34.7% and job creation reaching 2,847 people. Regression analysis results indicate that access to capital, technology, and training are main factors affecting MSME performance with R² value of 0.743. Processed agriculture and handicraft sectors show highest growth with average of 28.5% annually. The study finds that MSMEs can increase local community purchasing power up to 42.3% and reduce population migration to cities by 18.9%. These findings indicate that MSMEs have strategic role in driving rural economic wheels through creating added value of local products and community empowerment.

Abstract

Palm cooking oil is highly susceptible to quality deterioration due to lipid oxidation and degradation reactions during heating. This is characterized by an increased peroxide value and decreased iodine value. This study aimed to evaluate the potential of rosemary extract as a natural antioxidant to maintain palm cooking oil quality. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with six concentrations of rosemary extract (0, 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 ppm) with three replications. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and a 5% DMRT. The results showed that adding rosemary extract significantly (P<0.05) decreased peroxide value (from 5.587 to 5.084 mEq/kg), increased iodine value (from 59.600 to 60.089), increased cloud point, and color value. Conversely, treatments had no significant effect (P>0.05) on moisture content and free fatty acids. The RSA-DPPH test also confirmed good free radical scavenging activity. In conclusion, the 1000 ppm concentration is the best treatment to effectively suppress the oxidation rate, indicating rosemary extract's high potential for application as a natural antioxidant in palm cooking oil.
