Abstract

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in improving the shooting skills of eighth-grade students in football at MTS Darul Ilmi during the 2022/2023 academic year. The study applied a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles involving 27 students. Each cycle included the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection was carried out through lesson plans, observation sheets, and documentation, and analyzed using percentage-based descriptive statistics. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ shooting performance: the average score increased from 75 in cycle I (59.26% mastery) to 86 in cycle II (88.89% mastery), surpassing the minimum learning target of 75%. Moreover, students showed higher engagement, focus, and confidence during learning activities. The implementation of PBL successfully created an interactive and enjoyable learning environment that positively influenced motivation and achievement. The study concludes that integrating the PBL model into physical education effectively enhances football shooting skills and fosters active learning behavior among junior high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically analyze the relationship between lower limb explosive power and foot–eye coordination with long passing performance among football athletes of SSB Asam Kumbang, Medan City, North Sumatra. The research adopted a quantitative correlational design involving 30 participants selected through total sampling. The independent variables include (X₁) lower limb explosive power and (X₂) foot–eye coordination, while the dependent variable (Y) is football long passing ability. The data were collected using standardized tests: standing broad jump for explosive power, wall ball rebound test for coordination, and long passing accuracy test for performance evaluation. Data analysis employed multiple correlation techniques using SPSS version 23. Results revealed a significant positive correlation (r = 0.539) between both independent variables and long passing ability (p < 0.005). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.291) indicates that 29.10% of the variance in long passing performance can be explained by the combination of lower limb explosive power and foot–eye coordination. These findings empirically confirm that both physical and coordinative components play a crucial role in optimizing long passing skills in football. The study provides a theoretical foundation for targeted training programs emphasizing neuromuscular coordination and explosive strength development to improve technical performance among youth football players.

Abstract

This empirical study aims to analyze the comparative effects of Shadow Drill and Slalom Dribble training methods on the improvement of dribbling skills among football extracurricular students at SMA Negeri 2 Tanjung Morawa, Deli Serdang Regency. Employing an experimental design with a pre-test and post-test two-group format, the research involved 18 student-athletes selected through total sampling. Participants were divided equally into two groups: Group A received Shadow Drill training, while Group B underwent Slalom Dribble training, each for six weeks. The dribbling performance was measured using a standardized soccer dribbling test, and data were analyzed using a t-test for significance. The results revealed that both training methods significantly enhanced students’ dribbling performance (p < 0.05). However, the Shadow Drill method demonstrated a greater positive effect compared to the Slalom Dribble method. This finding suggests that the reactive and adaptive nature of Shadow Drill exercises enhances motor coordination, focus, and ball control, contributing to superior dribbling skills development. The study reinforces the pedagogical importance of varied and interactive training drills in optimizing technical performance in youth football programs.

Abstract

Football serves as a fundamental medium for developing children’s motor and coordination skills. However, young athletes often focus more on playing than on mastering essential techniques, leading to suboptimal skill development. This study aimed to empirically examine the basic football skill levels of 10–13-year-old athletes at the Tanjung Balai United Football School (SSB) in 2022. Employing a quantitative descriptive design, data were collected through a survey method with standardized tests and measurements. Twenty male athletes aged 10–13 years participated in this study. The instrument utilized was the Football Skills Test for Ages 10–13 developed by Daral Fauzi (2009), with a validity coefficient of 0.98. Data were analyzed statistically and presented in percentage form. Findings revealed that 0% of the participants were in the very poor category, 42.4% in the poor category, and 57.6% in the moderate category, with none achieving good or very good classifications. These results indicate that the overall basic football skills of the athletes fall into the moderate level. The study underscores the importance of structured and consistent training programs to improve fundamental football skills at an early developmental stage.
