Abstract

Islam is the religion of rahmatan lil ‘alamin for humanity throughout the universe. The Islamic religion regulates all activities carried out by humans, both vertical (humans with God) and horizontal (humans with each other), one of the activities is muamalah. In the Islamic religion, values have been established that limit human activities in muamalah and these activities are a benchmark in economic development so that the economic business activities of Muslims are always in line with the values and norms contained in the Qur'an and hadith. In an economic system developed based on Islamic law, it is permissible for every individual or group to carry out trade, and it is halal for him to gain profits. The Qur'an has provided indications so that its people will always produce and develop their trade throughout the world. In this way, Muslims must have strong belief and determination based on the perfect Qur'an and hadith, that Allah will replace and multiply the capital invested, because it has a good goal by being used for the welfare of the people.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the Ahl Al-Sunnah Wa Al-Jama’ah (ASWAJA) concept in interreligious harmony based on the thoughts of KH. Hasyim Asy’ari, the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). Employing a qualitative approach with library research methods, the study analyzes KH. Hasyim Asy’ari’s seminal work (Risalah Ahl Al-Sunnah Wa Al-Jama’ah) and related literature. The findings reveal that ASWAJA operates as a theological-social framework through three mechanisms: (1) the authority structure of ulama (scholars) as guardians of moderation, (2) core values (tawassuth [moderation], tasamuh [tolerance], tawazun [balance]), and (3) Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) as laboratories of harmony. ASWAJA’s values such as social justice (al-‘adalah al-ijtima’iyyah), human brotherhood (al-ukhuwwah al-insaniyyah), and deliberation (al-syura) provide practical foundations for interfaith relations. The study concludes that KH. Hasyim Asy’ari’s thought offers a model of harmony rooted in Indonesian Islamic tradition, which remains relevant to contemporary multireligious societies.

Abstract

The birth of the Islamic economic system coincided with the birth of Islam. The Islamic economic system was not born due to the failure of other current economic systems, such as capitalism, socialism, and so on. The Sharia economic system is the embodiment of the Islamic paradigm. The development of the Sharia economy and the Sharia economic system is not intended to compete with the capitalist or socialist economic systems, but rather to create an economic system with advantages that offset the shortcomings of existing economic systems. As Muslims, we are required to prioritize not only the afterlife or the worldly, but a middle ground between the two. This middle ground means not being neglected by the pursuit of wealth alone, but striving and always remaining close to Allah SWT. Neglecting those under one's responsibility means failing to provide for one's wife and children according to one's capabilities. These teachings will inspire a Muslim to strive hard in all areas of life, rather than simply resigning himself to fate.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of religious moderation values at SMAN 6 Kediri and their impact on the development of students’ character. The background of this research lies in the school’s religious and cultural diversity, which requires an educational strategy based on tolerance, justice, and balance (wasathiyah) to prevent intolerance and radicalism. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were obtained through observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and document analysis of school policies and learning activities. Data analysis was conducted thematically using triangulation techniques to ensure the validity of the findings. The results show that the values of religious moderation are integrated through contextual learning methods, participatory discussions, cross-subject collaboration, and curriculum support. This implementation has enhanced students’ understanding of the importance of harmony in diversity, shaped inclusive and tolerant character traits, and strengthened a harmonious school climate. The main challenge lies in differences in background and individual character, which influence the level of acceptance of these values. Overall, this study confirms that the application of religious moderation significantly contributes to character building and fostering harmony in the school environment.

Abstract

This study examines the representation of Muslim social life and interfaith relations in the Netherlands as portrayed in the film Merindu Cahaya de Amstel. Against the backdrop of lingering Islamophobia, which results in discrimination and intolerance toward Muslims, the film offers an alternative narrative that emphasizes tolerance, equality, and cultural sensitivity. Guided by a postmodernism framework highlighting the dissolution of boundaries between high and low culture this research employs an interpretive paradigm to explore the interactions between Muslim and non-Muslim communities, the extent of cultural sensitivity demonstrated, and the aesthetic dimensions embedded in the portrayal of Muslim life. The findings suggest that, while the film reflects a society that largely understands and respects religious and cultural differences, it also acknowledges the persistence of fanaticism among a minority. Overall, Merindu Cahaya de Amstel underscores the values of tolerance and mutual respect as fundamental to interfaith coexistence.

Abstract

The Qur'an contains several verses about students, discussing the nature of students, their development, and their religious development. From this discussion, it can be seen that Surah Al-Taubah, verse 122, discusses the nature of students, Surah Al-Hadid, verse 20, and Surah Al-A'raf, verse 172, discusses their religious development. From the above explanation, it can be concluded that the description of student characteristics in the Qur'an and Hadith is related to the explanation of scientific concepts. This is evidenced by the mutually reinforcing explanations between the characteristics contained in the Qur'an, Hadith, and the concept of developmental psychology.
