Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. One of the main contributing factors to this issue is the lack of public knowledge and awareness regarding risk factors and the importance of early prevention. This community service program aimed to improve knowledge and awareness among women of reproductive age about NCD prevention through health promotion and educational intejrventions. The activity was conducted at UPTD Yosomulyo Health Center on September 15, 2023, involving 60 participants. The methods included a pretest to assess baseline knowledge, interactive health education sessions using audiovisual materials and discussions, distribution of health promotion leaflets, and a posttest to evaluate knowledge improvement. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding, where the proportion of respondents achieving high posttest scores (11–15) increased from 73% to 96%. This finding indicates that health promotion through structured educational interventions effectively enhances community knowledge and awareness regarding NCD prevention. The program demonstrates the importance of sustained health education initiatives as a promotive and preventive strategy, supporting national efforts to reduce the burden of NCDs through community empowerment and behavior change.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strengthening of adolescent spirituality through the practice of monthly wirid from the perspective of Islamic Religious Education towards the development of faith, piety, and noble character at Pariaman 4 State Senior High School. The background of this study is the importance of presenting a sustainable religious program as a space for internalizing divine values ​​for students in the phase of adolescent development that is vulnerable to moral and identity shocks. This study uses a qualitative approach with the ABCD method. The results show that the practice of monthly wirid can strengthen adolescents' transcendental awareness by increasing their understanding of religious teachings, appreciation of spiritual values, and habituation to structured worship. This activity also has an impact on the formation of attitudes of discipline, mutual respect, and the ability to control oneself in social interactions within the school environment. In conclusion, the practice of monthly wirid functions as an effective instrument in strengthening students' spirituality while forming character based on faith, piety, and noble character, making it worthy of being developed as a routine program integrated into school religious development.

Abstract

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death that can be prevented through education and early detection. Low public awareness of risk factors, early signs, and the importance of health checks results in many cancer cases being discovered at an advanced stage. This community service activity aims to increase public understanding and conduct health checks related to cancer risk factors at the Bait Qur'an Mulia Foundation. The method used is an educational-participatory approach with a community-based empowerment strategy. The activity is carried out through preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The examinations include measuring blood pressure, body mass index, random blood sugar, and breast examinations for early cancer detection. The tools used include digital sphygmomanometers, scales and height meters, blood sugar monitors, and health education media. A total of 60 participants (45 women and 15 men) consists of members of the Bait Qur'an Mulia Foundation, including housewives, teenagers, the elderly and the general public. The examination results showed that 40% of participants had high blood pressure, 10% had a body mass index above normal, 20% had blood sugar levels above healthy limits, and none of the participants were found to have signs indicating breast cancer. The counseling provided successfully increased participant understanding, with 85% of participants able to re-explain the material. This activity demonstrates that integrated health education and screenings can be an effective strategy for raising awareness, encouraging preventative behaviors, and strengthening early cancer detection efforts in the community. It is recommended that similar programs be implemented on an ongoing basis to strengthen community self-reliance in maintaining health.

Abstract

Cancer is a non-communicable disease that poses a serious threat to public health, including in government agencies' workplaces. Low awareness and preventive measures against the dangers of cancer can impact the quality of life and work productivity. This Community Service activity aims to strengthen awareness and encourage preventive measures against the dangers of cancer among employees of the Putussibau KPPN, West Kalimantan. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR) which was implemented through the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection with the active participation of partners. Data collection was carried out through participatory observation, interactive discussions, and the distribution of questionnaires before and after the health education activity. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the activity showed an increase in employee knowledge and awareness regarding cancer risk factors, the importance of early detection, and the implementation of healthy lifestyle behaviors in the workplace. In addition, participants demonstrated a positive attitude and commitment to implementing preventive measures on an ongoing basis. In conclusion, strengthening awareness through PAR-based health education is effective in encouraging changes in employee knowledge, attitudes, and preventive commitment. This activity has the potential to provide a real contribution to the formation of a healthy work culture as an effort to prevent cancer in government agencies

Abstract

Problems in academic writing among postgraduate students are still frequently found, particularly related to inaccurate citations, inconsistent bibliographies, and limited use of reference management applications. This community service program aimed to improve postgraduate students’ understanding and skills in using reference management applications to support systematic and academically appropriate scientific writing at UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addari Padangsidimpuan. The program was conducted through training sessions and hands-on practice using Zotero and Mendeley applications involving 65 participants, consisting of 45 students from the Primary Education Study Program and 20 students from the Mathematics Education Study Program. Program evaluation was carried out through observation and post-training questionnaires. The results showed that 42 participants (65%) rated the quality of material delivery as very good, while 43 participants (66%) reported a very high level of understanding regarding the use of reference management applications. Participants were also able to install the applications, manage references, and apply automatic and manual citation techniques correctly. The program proved effective in improving students’ academic literacy and reference management skills, thereby supporting the enhancement of scientific writing quality and strengthening an orderly and integrity-based academic culture.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding is crucial in supporting the growth and development of infants, such as increasing antibodies, protecting against infectious diseases, and several other benefits. Education on Hypnobreastfeeding, a method for increasing breast milk that is beneficial for breastfeeding mothers in Padang City has physical and psychological benefits for the mother. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of pregnant women about the benefits of breast milk. The type of activity carried out is in the form of health education related to the benefits of Hypnobreastfeeding for smooth breast milk flow. The instrument used to measure the level of knowledge of breastfeeding mothers is a questionnaire with 10 structured questions about breast milk, the measurement results of this questionnaire are the level of knowledge of good, sufficient and less. This activity was preceded by a pre-test to measure the level of knowledge of pregnant women before receiving the counseling material and followed by a post-test to measure the level of knowledge of pregnant women after receiving the counseling material. The number of counseling participants was 29 people, after the counseling, several results were obtained, namely there was an increase in the percentage of the good knowledge group by 65%, the sufficient knowledge group by 35%, and no participants were found with a low level of knowledge.

Abstract

Strengthening religious moderation in early childhood is a strategic effort to foster tolerant and inclusive character values within multicultural societies. The increasing prevalence of intolerance and the influence of digital media on children’s behavioral development highlight the urgency of introducing religious moderation values from an early age through approaches that align with children’s developmental characteristics. This community service program aimed to strengthen religious moderation values among early childhood learners through educational play activities that are interactive and developmentally appropriate. The program employed a qualitative descriptive approach using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. The implementation stages included problem identification, program planning, educational play activities, observation, and evaluation. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The educational activities consisted of storytelling, role-playing, collaborative games, and creative art activities integrating values of tolerance, cooperation, empathy, and respect for diversity. The findings demonstrated significant positive changes in children’s social behavior, including improved cooperation, sharing attitudes, respect for peers, and harmonious interaction regardless of social or religious backgrounds. Furthermore, teachers and parents showed increased understanding of the implementation of religious moderation values in both learning activities and daily life practices. Therefore, educational play activities proved effective in strengthening religious moderation values in early childhood while promoting an inclusive and harmonious learning environment.
