Abstract

Rebranding keris as a tourism icon of Sumenep district is a new narrative that has been built by the people of Sumenep based on their assessment of the life of the people who can not be separated from the heirloom. The narrative of rebranding the keris as a tourism icon has relevance to the purpose of efforts to create a strong image impression on tourists, this is because the keris has become part of the archipelago community and even known to the world community. Based on this reality, this study aims to determine how the representation of the value of the keris in the discourse of tourism rebranding, how the visualization of the value of the keris in supporting the discourse of tourism rebranding, how the local government policy in an effort to strengthen the rebranding of the keris as a new icon of tourism in Sumenep. The method used is qualitative with semi-structured interview data collection techniques. The results of this study indicate the keris as a representation of the way of life of the people of Sumenep inherent in daily life so that the icon of the keris as a new branding can create a strong and unique image for tourist destinations, while also strengthening awareness of local cultural values. In addition, rebranding the keris as a tourism icon of Sumenep through the creation of a logo can build a self-image as a tourism centre that is different from destinations in general. Finally, the form of government support in realizing the discourse of keris rebranding as a new tourism icon can be realized through several concrete and strategic forms of support such as the creation of local government regulations.

Abstract

Sumber Group has a special brand for its toy business sector, namely Sumber Jaya Toys Store and Sumber Mas Accessories to shelter its fashion accessories. Each of its business sectors has a different logo identity. The existence of two brand logos other than the company's main logo makes it difficult for some target markets to differentiate the two business sectors they are in. The design of this corporate identity is carried out to further strengthen the image of Sumber Jaya Toys Store as a brand that distributes local and imported toys. This research uses Research and Development (R&D) research methods that refer to the research stage by Sugiono, including potential and problem analysis, data collection, product design, design validation, design revision, limited-scale trials and wide-scale trials. The results of this development research are corporate identity products with a fun and playful company minimalist design style in the form of business cards, company calendars, brochures, id cards, member cards, uniforms, and content for Instagram social media.

Abstract

This writing discusses the design of an illustrated book about kupang, a traditional culinary dish from Sidoarjo that is still relatively unknown. Lontong kupang is often considered part of Surabaya's cuisine, but kupang holds significant cultural and historical value for the people of Sidoarjo. The purpose of this illustrated book is to raise awareness and appreciation for kupang, while also strengthening Sidoarjo’s culinary identity beyond the more popular bandeng and shrimp. Through direct observation in Balongdowo, a kupang processing center, the study examines the processes of harvesting, separating the meat, and processing kupang into petis, crackers, and lontong. Additionally, interviews with industry players provide deeper insights. The findings are presented as engaging stories that illustrate the role of kupang in community life, using watercolor techniques and digital media to highlight kupang as a culturally rich element.

Abstract

Mosque Jami' Al-Abror, which was founded in 1678, is the oldest mosque that played an important role in the spread of Islam in Kauman, Sidoarjo. Information related to the history of the mosque and its founders is scarce; the only available source regarding the figures is oral history. To support the preservation of this history, an illustrated book was developed that also features the characters of the mosque's founders. This article focuses on the process of character design of historical figures through imaginative reconstruction. In addition to using oral history and seminar results from the 1980s as primary sources, character design is also based on historical document archives in the form of photos and paintings, as well as films set in the same time period as the mosque's founding year. These various sources provide visual references that support the accuracy of the characters, making the results more representative and relevant in depicting the founders of Jami' Al-Abror Mosque. It is hoped that this writing can serve as a reference in the preservation of local history and inspire the younger generation to better understand the history of Jami' Al-Abror Mosque

Abstract

Kebaya dengan sejarahnya yang panjang telah menjadi simbol perjuangan sekaligus identitas penting Indonesia. Saat ini pemerintah sedang sedang berusaha agar kebaya mendapat pengakuan internasional sebagai warisan budaya melalui UNESCO. Untuk itu, penting bagi bagi anak-anak yang merupakan penerus bangsa untuk mengenal dan mempelajari bagian penting dari identitas mereka ini. Dalam upaya mengenalkan kebaya sebagai busana nasional ke anak-anak sekolah dasar, buku ilustrasi kebaya cocok sebagai media pengenalan kebaya. Oleh karena itu, penulis mendesain sebuah karakter untuk buku ilustrasi kebaya. Adanya karakter, dapat memberikan sebuah interaksi dengan pembaca yang mendukung narasi pada buku melalui dialog, penyampaian fakta unik, dan interaksi dengan ilustrasi-ilustrasi yang ada pada buku. Melalui metode kualitatif dengan analisis deskriptif, tercipta sebuah karakter dengan ilustrasi gaya kartun dengan pewarnaan cerah bernama Miya, singkatan dari ‘Manifestasi Kebaya’. Miya yaitu anak perempuan 11 tahun dengan sifat ceria yang selalu mengenakan kebaya dimanapun.

Abstract

Illustration as a medium that can be used to understand and spread self-love because it can be used to convey messages visually and emotionally. This study examines 2 components of self-love, namely self-cherishing and self-acceptance. The problems faced by students are related to the pressure to achieve, adapt to new environments, and demands to build self-identity often cause stress that has an impact on psychology. This research aims to explore how illustration can be an effective medium to represent 2 components of self-love from a visual perspective through a phenomenological approach. In addition, it is also to find out how many students are able to appreciate, accept, and appreciate as a form of loving themselves through visual works, which reflect the essence of emotion and meaning behind the visual experience. The results of this research are that students who draw themselves can be stated to have a higher understanding of the aspect of self-love than those who draw others. Through the observed phenomena, students' awareness in understanding the components of self-love can be said to be good visually through the results of the illustrations. However, in everyday life, the level of students' self-love can still be said to be sufficient to tend to be lacking in accepting, appreciating, respecting and considering themselves more important than others.
