Abstract

Harta buang is a customary fine, such as ivory, male earrings and gold breast pendant, to be paid by the divorcing party of the husband or wife. Harta buang also means a fine to be paid to the woman who was raped, humiliated, or made a temporary lover but then not married. These customary treasure fines are intended to prevent the occurrence of divorce and also as a form of expression of restoration and respect for the dignity of women who have been divorced or abused. This study aims to describe Tanimbarese people’s understanding of the shift in the means of payment of property and their appreciation of women. The results show that people of Tanimbar began to use money as a means of payment of the property as determined by the officials of Tanimbarese villages (latupati). The villages’ officials of Tanimbarese were of the opinion that paying both with customary objects and with money express the respect for women. However, some Tanimbarese still consider that payments with customary objects are more wighted and beter respect for women.

Abstract

“Agamaku adalah agamaku, dan agamamu adalah agamamu”. Ungkapan ini mau mengatakan pluralisme kehidupan beragama adalah sebuah keniscayaan. Itulah sebabnya yang hendak ditekankan adalah toleransi dan saling pengharagaan yang tinggi antar kehidupan umat beragama. Perlu adanya dialog yang dapat membuat orang untuk mencintai agamanya, tapi juga mencintai dan menghargai agama orang lain. Gereja Katolik sejak awal telah berusaha untuk menunjukan sikap toleransi demgan umat beragama lain. Hal itu nampak secara nyata dalam deklarasi Nostra Aetate, sebuah dokumen Gereja yang dikeluarkan oleh Konsili Vatikan II, yang berbicara khusus tentang hubungan Gereja dengan agama-agama lain. Gereja menyadari bahwa ia tidak bereksistensi sendiri di dunia ini. Itulah sebabnya Gereja membuka diri untuk mau berdialog dengan agama lain. Gereja sungguh mengakui juga kebenaran kebanaran yang ada dalam agama lain, yang atas salah satu cara menghantar umat manusia untuk menemukan Allah.

Abstract

The Catholic Church considers that marriage is a covenant between men and women that from between the whole life togetherness. This is why, in the Catholic view, the marriage is one and cannot be divorced. Therefore, the Catholic Church always doing preparation for those who will be solemnized their marriage. This article is an effort to explain catechesis of marriage preparation in St. Joseph’ Parish in the Diocese of Amboina. Usingqualitative methods, it is suspected to find accurate data on the implementation of catechetical marriage preparation in St. Joseph’ Paris.

Abstract

Character Education as a process of formation of character values of the students. The fundamental question of this qualitative pilot study concerns the practice of the character education at the SMAK high school St.Paulus in Saumlaki. This research makes use of a descriptive analytical method and is based on the awareness towards the importance of character education, and finds that the SMAK St.Paulus Saumlaki performs a character education in its program of personal development, which is integrated in activities of study, culture and social attitude. Prominent values that are detected involve religion, discipline, sense of responsibility, friendship, intercommunication and care for environment and society.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to achieve an understanding of the marital problems of Catholics that occurred in the Tanimbar in the Diocese of Amboina. In this research, we used social methods, namely qualitative research method. The reason behind this research is this method can help to describe the life of people from within, from the point of understanding of the person being studied. Thus, the result of this study present a better understanding of issues surrounding marriage and how religious view affect people, who are practicing their marital life.
