Abstract

This research was conducted in BabakanRaden Village, Cariu District, Bogor Regency. This is considering several key issues that occur, such as the lack of empowerment regarding how to create and improve a clean and healthy environment by providing knowledge related to Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM). The results of the KKN activities can be explained and described by the role of community social capital as a form of local population knowledge regarding the importance of environmental sanitation. The process of increasing community knowledge in improving environmental sanitation is carried out through four approaches, namely preparation, socialization, mentoring, and evaluation. Based on the results of these activities, it can be concluded that increasing awareness and character of the community in BabakanRaden Village can be formed and have sustainability through regular socialization and mentoring programs by related parties. In the process of increasing knowledge of good environmental sanitation, mentoring and socialization are in the form of stopping the habit of defecating in the open, getting used to washing hands with soap, planning the construction of toilets, paying attention to the layout of buildings with residences, clean water sources and food sources for local residents, and raising awareness of the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the local environment and oneself for a healthy life.

Abstract

Educating residents about waste management awareness and skills through the application of the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle (3R) is crucial for solving waste problems through waste management from the source. A waste bank integrated with the 3R principles was implemented in Pondokgede District, Bekasi. The waste bank concept involves collecting and sorting dry waste and employing banking-like management, but instead of saving money, the savings are made from waste. The goal of this activity is to reduce the accumulation of household waste to prevent disasters and to utilize waste through creativity and innovation within the local community. The methods used are education, practice, and documentation. The results show that waste bank management provides numerous benefits to the surrounding community, creating a comfortable, beautiful, and green environment, and increasing community income. The conclusion of this study is that household waste can generate social, economic, and environmental benefits, resulting in a positive impact from the Waste Bank in Pondokgede District, Bekasi.

Abstract

The Composting Program in Jatimakmur Village was initiated by the Faculty of Administrative Sciences at Krisnadwipayana University (UNKRIS) with the aim of reducing the volume of organic waste generated and educating the community about the benefits of compost. Through a participatory approach, the program involves local residents in the composting process from household waste. This activity includes not only technical training on composting but also an environmental education campaign to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable waste management. Results from the program indicate increased community knowledge about composting, a reduction in the amount of waste sent to landfills, and the use of compost as an organic fertilizer in gardens and household plants. The program hopes to serve as a model for community-based waste management initiatives in other areas, supporting sustainable development efforts and environmental independence in Jatimakmur Village.
