Abstract

The rapid development of information technology in Indonesia requires teenagers to have good digital literacy in order to be able to use technology wisely and productively. Adequate digital literacy will help adolescents access information critically, maintain privacy, and participate actively and safely in the digital world. This research method uses interviews and surveys to collect data from the high school student population in Central Java, which allows researchers to obtain in-depth information about students' views and experiences. The sample taken in Banjarnegara Regency will provide a representative picture that helps researchers analyze trends and patterns among high school students in the region. The study results showed that the habit of reading has not been formed from an early age in children, so they tend not to like reading activities. Another thing that encourages children is that the lack of reading habits at home and the surrounding environment makes children less interested in books and unaware of the benefits and pleasures that can be obtained from reading. Students will prefer to read in a supportive environment, such as a home that provides a lot of books and parents who regularly read stories. The interview results show several ways to attract and motivate to increase reading interest, including integrating literacy into the school curriculum, teaching children how to search for information online, organizing extracurricular literacy activities, and teaching children how to organize and manage information. Good material that meets the needs of students will help develop an interest in reading and writing and strengthen the ability to analyze and understand the text as a whole; literacy is at the forefront of society in tackling fake news. The literacy culture still needs to be developed. Therefore, cooperation from all parties, including the government, schools, and the community, is needed to build awareness of the importance of reading and increase access to literary sources.

Abstract

Teaching materials can be defined as all forms of materials that are arranged systematically to enable students to learn by designing them according to the applicable curriculum. The formulation of the problem in this research is how to design teaching materials and how to improve learning outcomes in Engineering and English Communication courses using a skills-based learning model. This research adapts the Research and Development (R&D) model from Thiagarajan with four stages, namely Define, Design, Development and Dessimination or abbreviated as 4D. According to Thiagarajan's 4D model, the 4 stages used include (1) Define, namely defining precisely the expected learning media through analyzing the current situation and learning media needs; (2) Design consists of designing the required features, designing component requirements, selecting English Engineering and Communication learning materials; (3) Development or manufacturing includes creating, preparing English engineering and communication practicum work, testing English engineering and communication practicum materials, feasibility testing for media experts & material experts and product revisions; (4) Dissemination includes spreading the use of products to Aircraft Maintenance Technology cadets, Makassar Aviation Polytechnic and attending national and international conferences. The results of the research show that the design of teaching materials for English Engineering and Communication courses through several stages has received evaluation results which show that the teaching materials developed have succeeded in improving students' English skills, especially in the aspects of reading and speaking and based on the results of evaluations by experts and trials. field, skills-based English Engineering and Communication teaching materials (skill-based Learning) are considered suitable for use in the learning process

Abstract

Teacher professional development is a critical component for enhancing educational quality, and the integration of deep learning technologies has emerged as a transformative tool, although its implementation presents challenges. This study aimed to analyze the acceptance and usage of deep learning technologies in professional development programs using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by investigating associated challenges and opportunities. Adopting a convergent parallel mixed-methods research design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and surveys measuring Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) from 30 participants comprising teachers, school administrators, and policymakers. Qualitative data underwent thematic analysis, while quantitative survey data were analyzed descriptively. Key findings reveal significant challenges such as technological infrastructure gaps (including internet access issues and inadequate hardware), limited digital literacy (compounded by training complexity), and resistance to change (including fear of being replaced by AI). Conversely, opportunities include personalized learning paths (such as personalized training recommendations), enhanced pedagogical insights, and scalable training programs. Although stakeholders perceived deep learning platforms as generally useful and easy to use, concerns about practical usability among policymakers and the impact of external barriers persist. The study concludes that deep learning offers substantial potential, but its successful integration necessitates addressing these structural, systemic, and human-centric barriers. It also offers actionable insights for educators, policymakers, and technology developers to foster more effective and inclusive deep learning-enhanced professional development.

Abstract

This research aims to describe teachers' perceptions of acts of violence in elementary schools, with a focus on the North Lamba Leda sub-district, East Manggarai Regency. Quantitative methods were used in this research, by conducting a survey via questionnaire to the elementary school teachers involved. The data obtained from the questionnaire will be analyzed to identify the views and experiences of teachers regarding violence in education. The results of the research show that the majority of teachers in elementary schools in this sub-district have witnessed violence among students in their schools. This phenomenon is considered a serious problem that must be addressed to ensure a safe and nurturing educational environment for children. Violence in education not only harms students physically and psychologically, but also reflects the social pathology that occurs in the school environment, as well as highlighting deficiencies in the essence of education which should promote humanist values and respect individual dignity. By understanding teachers' perceptions of violence in education, this research provides valuable insights for the development of educational policies and practices that are more responsive and oriented towards child protection and creating safe and supportive learning environments for student growth and development. Efforts to overcome violence in education must be a priority in improving the education system and creating a more just and cultured society.

Abstract

This study examines the governance framework of educational waqf in West Java, Indonesia, through a philosophical-empirical mixed method analysis. West Java, hosting the largest concentration of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia, provides a critical case study for understanding waqf governance dynamics. Using quantitative descriptive analysis of 9,310 pesantren and qualitative exploratory discussion, this research reveals that West Java contains 49.4% of Java's Islamic boarding schools, with an estimated 10,884 waqf-based educational institutions managing 45,000 hectares of waqf land valued at 2.85 trillion IDR. The study identifies significant governance challenges including legal certification (85/100 severity index), management capacity (70/100), and financial transparency (65/100). Findings indicate that while West Java demonstrates substantial waqf utilization (78% rate), integrated governance frameworks are essential for optimizing educational waqf potential. The philosophical foundation of waqf, rooted in Islamic jurisprudence and maqasid al-shariah, requires contemporary governance models that balance traditional values with modern administrative efficiency. This research contributes to the theoretical understanding of waqf governance while providing empirical evidence for policy development in Islamic educational finance.
