Abstract

Hypertension is the main causative factor of cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in the world. Low adherence to treatment from people with hypertension is a concern at this time, especially in the elderly group. Non-compliance of patients in treatment management will impact uncontrolled blood pressure. Uncontrolled blood pressure for a long time can cause complications of hypertension. This study aims to identify and analyze the characteristics and compliance of the elderly with the management of hypertension treatment. Descriptive cross-sectional study design, determination of samples with consecutive sampling of 100 respondents included in the inclusion criteria. The study's results related to the level of knowledge of older people with adherence to treatment management (p = 0.083). It can be concluded that treatment is carried out if there are complaints about the sufferer, a rush of activity, and boredom due to long suffering from the disease. Therefore, it is essential always to provide education and treatment assistance for sufferers from health workers and families

Abstract

The nutritional status of toddlers is an important indicator of children's health and well-being. Good nutrition at an early age has a long-lasting impact on physical growth, cognitive development, and health throughout life. The nutritional status of toddlers reflects whether children are getting enough nutrients to grow and develop properly or are malnourished, which can result in various health problems. This study aims to determine socioeconomic factors with the nutritional status of toddlers—quantitative research design analytical survey with a cross-sectional study approach, with a Purposive Sample technique. Based on the Chi-Square test shows that the variable income has a p-value of 0.003, Maternal Knowledge p-value of 0.005, Maternal Education p-value of 0.690, and Maternal occupation p-value of 0.510. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between family income and maternal knowledge with the nutritional status of toddlers. There is no relationship between maternal education and work with a healthy group of toddlers. To improve the nutritional quality of toddlers, a comprehensive approach that considers various socioeconomic factors, education, and family welfare is needed. These programs should be designed and implemented based on research findings and the needs of the targeted communities.

Preliminary data regarding the number of older adults at the Pertiwi Community Health Center, Mariso District, Makassar City, in March 2023, 37 older adults were attending the elderly posyandu. This research aims to determine the relationship between diet and family support on the nutritional status of older people. The method in this research is a descriptive-analytical design with a cross-sectional study approach and sampling using a non-probability sampling technique with an accidental sampling approach and the Fisher exact test statistical test. The sample size in this study was 28 respondents. The results of this study showed a significant relationship between diet and the nutritional status of older people with a p-value = 0.001, and there was no meaningful relationship between the relationship between family support and the healthy group of older people with a p-value = 0.064. The conclusion is that the relationship between diet is more dominant on nutritional status than family support. Hence, the diet of older people needs to be considered to improve the nutritional quality of older people

Abstract

Stress is one of the common mental health problems in today's society. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between stress levels and smoking behavior. Smoking is a habit that is detrimental to health and can be a risk factor for a variety of serious diseases. However, many individuals who smoke may claim that smoking is their way of coping with stress. Data for the study were obtained through interviews and questionnaires given to several participants involved in smoking behavior. The data collected included stress levels, smoking history, and motivation to smoke. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between stress levels and smoking behavior. Individuals who experience higher levels of stress tend to be more likely to smoke or smoke more frequently. In addition, the study also revealed that many smoking participants reported that they smoked as a way to cope with stress. This study has important implications for treatments and interventions in reducing smoking. Understanding that stress can be a trigger for smoking can help in designing more effective evidence-based programs to help individuals cope with stress without having to rely on cigarettes. Better prevention and treatment efforts for individuals who smoke should also consider stress management as an important part of treatment. As such, the study could provide a better view of the complex relationship between stress and smoking and provide a foundation for better public health improvements in tackling the smoking problem

Abstract

Introduction: Contraception and family planning services are an essential part of reproductive health. Postpartum IUDs in SC postpartum have a much lower expulsion rate than vaginal delivery. Objective: to determine the effect of post-placental intrauterine devices on the decrease in fundus uteri. Methods: Using a correlational analytical research design, the research design used is a prospective cohort with a sample size of 30 for the treatment group and 30 for the control group. Result: It can be concluded that the effect 2 hours after the installation of post-placental IUD is known (p-value = 0.279), which indicates that there is no influence between the variable of post-placental IUD installation of SC delivery mothers and the decrease in fundus uteri height. The effect of post-placental IUD insertion on the decrease in fundus uteri height in SC postpartum mothers at Karanganyar Regional Hospital on day 3 shows a p-value of 0.262, and it shows that there is no influence between the variable post-placental IUD insertion of SC mothers and the decrease in fundus uteri height. On day 7, the p-value = 0.008 means that the p-value is smaller than the value of α = 0.05 (p-value < 0.05) and that there is an influence between the variable of post-placental IUD insertion of SC mothers and the decrease in fundus uteri height. Post-placental IUD is a reference for making birth control choices during the postpartum period without interfering with breast milk. Conclusion: The conclusion does not prove the hypothesis in part because the rapid effect on the decrease in TFU in SC postpartum mothers is only after 7 days from the insertion of the IUD, while at 2 hours of IUD insertion and day 3 of IUD insertion, it does not have a rapid effect on reducing TFU in SC postpartum mothers. implications for the management of maternity women who plan to postpone the next pregnancy and this research can be used as empirical evidence that a post-placental intrauterine device acceptor has the potential to increase uterine contractions and accelerate the decrease in fundus uteri height on day 7.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease in the form of a metabolic disorder characterised by increased blood sugar levels that exceed normal limits. The purpose of the study was to determine the characteristics of type DM patients based on their level of adherence to drug use. The study used analytical descriptive methods with a cross-sectional study approach. Research samples were determined using the accidental sampling method on subjects who encountered as many as 44 pieces that doctors have diagnosed in the Kalumata Health Centre work area and according to inclusion criteria. Variable measurement using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale questionnaire and validity and reliability analysis using SPSS version 25. Further tests were performed using bivariate Pearson correlation analysis. The results of the statistical analysis obtained sig values. (2-tailed) between age and gender, BPJS users' compliance rates are 0.510, 0.109, and -0.192, respectively. This means that there is no correlation or relationship. The variables of education level and type of work are 0.005 and 0.014, which significantly influence the level of compliance. It can be concluded that the variables that substantially impact the level of adherence of type 2 DM patients are education level and type of work. It is essential to constantly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implementing these recommendations to ensure an increase in the compliance rate of type 2 DM patients.

Abstract

Introduction: Oral and dental hygiene serves as an indicator of a condition free from diseases, debris, and health issues in the oral cavity, affecting individuals of all age groups. Health education through various global learning systems, behavioural programmes, and creative approaches has proven effective in enhancing children's understanding of the importance of maintaining oral and dental cleanliness. Objective: Objective: This research aims to review relevant journals contributing to the development of insights, behaviours, and understanding regarding children's oral and dental health across crucial age ranges. Methods: Using a literature review method, we filtered articles from Google Scholar, PubMed, Garuda (Digital Reference Library), and Science Direct published within the last six years. Searches in both Indonesian and English languages yielded ten articles that, after a selection process, provided diverse results regarding the implementation of learning models to enhance children's understanding of their oral and dental hygiene. Result: From the ten articles, it can be concluded that the application of education on oral and dental hygiene through various learning systems can effectively improve children's knowledge. Conclusion: the oral hygiene of elementary school children from various countries. Variations in research designs were found, and there is low awareness among children regarding dental health in Indonesia. Educational programmes, such as "Brush Day & Night," and collaborations between FDI and Unilever have proven effective in improving children's toothbrushing habits. The use of music and the snake ladder game was also considered appropriate for developing awareness and behaviours related to dental hygiene.
