Abstract

The concept of God is one of the central themes in philosophical studies, both in Western and Eastern traditions. Differences in cultural background, history, and frameworks of thought have given rise to various understandings of God, ranging from theism and deism to pantheism and non-theism. This article aims to examine and integrate the concept of God in Western and Eastern philosophy through a literature review approach. The method used is a literature study of classical and contemporary philosophical works. The results of the study show that despite differences in rational and intuitive approaches, Western and Eastern philosophy have common ground in their efforts to understand the highest reality as the source of existence and meaning of life. This study contributes to the affirmation that the integration of these two traditions opens up space for constructive philosophical dialogue in understanding God holistically.

Abstract

This study aims to reconstruct and reinterpret the reform of the interdisciplinary humanities curriculum in Japan through the perspective of Islamic thought and science. Rather than positioning Japanese educational reform as a secular model that stands alone, this study places it as a comparative mirror to reexamine the principles of Islamic epistemology, particularly the concepts of the unity of knowledge (tawḥīd al-ʿilm), the integration of revelation and reason (naql–ʿaql), and the orientation of education based on maqāṣid al-sharīʿah. This study uses a qualitative-analytical and comparative approach by analysing curriculum documents, previous empirical findings, and classical and contemporary Islamic thought. The results of the analysis show that the reform of the Japanese humanities curriculum implicitly reflects values that are in line with the Islamic intellectual tradition, such as the rejection of the fragmentation of knowledge, the affirmation of the ethical dimension in learning, the strengthening of cultural-global awareness, and transformative learning that shapes the perspectives and social responsibilities of students. These findings confirm that the integration of the humanities is not a foreign concept in Islam, but rather has strong epistemological roots in the Islamic scientific tradition

Abstract

This study aims to identify and explore the practice of female circumcision in Indonesia from the perspective of law and human rights, as well as the view of Islamic law according to Khalid Basalamah on female circumcision. This research uses a qualitative approach with primary data in the form of Khalied Basalamah's lecture content on female circumcision. Secondary data were obtained from various religious, medical, and human rights scientific literature to comprehensively examine the practice of female circumcision. Abstract

This qualitative study aims to identify the thoughts of Masnun Tahir, a professor of Islamic civil law, on the causes of the phenomenon of unregistered marriages (nikah siri). Primary data was obtained from Masnun Tahir's scientific journal articles. This study uses Soerjono Soekanto's theory of legal effectiveness as a perspective. The results of the study show that, according to Masnun Tahir, the phenomenon of nikah siri is influenced by a low understanding of the law, weak law enforcement, the dominance of cultural norms over state law, and limited access to fair and affordable legal facilities. The findings of this study contribute to the importance of preventive strategies against the complexity of sociological factors causing the rampant cases of nikah siri.

Abstract

This study focuses on describing the views of Ahmad Zahro, a professor of Islamic law in Indonesia, regarding the legal status of bank interest. This qualitative study in the form of media observation uses a content analysis approach. The primary data consists of Ahmad Zahro's YouTube content on bank interest, while the secondary data in this study uses relevant scientific literature. The results of the study show that Ahmad Zahro argues that bank interest does not always fall under the category of usury (riba), depending on the context in which the interest is applied, namely as long as there are no elements of extortion or exploitation. This study contributes to emphasizing the importance of inclusive dialogue between scholars, the community, and financial institutions to deepen understanding of the issue of bank interest.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the thoughts of Muhyar Fanani, a professor of Islamic law in Indonesia, regarding the reorientation of Ushuluddin studies to be more contextual with contemporary social realities. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach. The results of the study show that Muhyar Fanani views the reorientation of Ushuluddin as requiring a radical, in-depth, and integrative approach between religious texts and social realities, particularly through dialogue between religion and science and responses to social change through contextual ijtihad. Theoretically, this study emphasises the importance of an integrative paradigm in bridging revelation and reason amid the dominance of modern science.

Abstract

The development of Qur'anic tafsir  research reveals that the interpreting process is becoming increasingly diverse, particularly since social media has emerged as a new platform for the dissemination and production of religious meaning. However, studies that specifically link Paul Ricoeur's hermeneutics to the practice of Qur'an tafsir on social media are still minimal. This emptiness signifies the need for a theoretical framework capable of explaining how the Text of the Qur'an is understood and interpreted in an interactive and rapidly changing digital space. This article aims to fill this gap by analyzing the relevance of the main concepts of Ricoeur's hermeneutics in reading the dynamics Tafsir of the Qur'an on social media. The research uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach, referring to Ricoeur's hermeneutic literature and digital interpretation studies. The analysis was carried out descriptively by connecting the concepts of autonomy of the Text, explanation, understanding, and symbols with the interpretive patterns that develop on digital platforms. The findings of the study suggest that the Ricoeur framework helps explain the changes in interpreting authority, the active engagement of the audience, as well as the process of reinterpretation that arises when texts circulate in digital formats. Theoretically, this study expands the application of Ricoeur's hermeneutics in the study of contemporary interpretation. Practically, this study provides a new understanding of how social media shapes the way people receive and interpret the message of the Qur'an.

Abstract

Islamic education has great potential in promoting gender equality. However, efforts to achieve this still face various challenges, such as strong patriarchal culture, structural inequality, and social resistance to change. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic education in shaping social gender constructs and to formulate strategies for creating a more inclusive and equitable education system. Through a qualitative approach based on literature analysis, the study found that increasing understanding of gender, updating the curriculum, empowering women in educational institutions, and community involvement are important steps in creating an education system that is more responsive to gender issues. The findings show that inclusive Islamic education can reduce gender stereotypes, increase women's participation, and strengthen the value of justice in the educational process. These strategies are key to building an equitable educational environment that supports the development of the potential of all students.

Abstract

This study identifies the transformation of the Islamic Religious Education curriculum by integrating Islamic epistemology, digital pedagogy, and ethical considerations relevant to the Society 5.0 era. Using an integrative literature review, the study synthesizes theoretical perspectives and empirical findings from recent national and international research. The results show that although digital transformation offers opportunities for interactive, collaborative, and technology-enhanced learning, it also presents challenges such as fragmented religious understanding, exposure to unverified online content, limited teacher digital competence, and emerging digital ethical issues among students. These conditions highlight the urgent need for curriculum reconstruction that remains rooted in Islamic epistemic values. The study proposes three essential directions for strengthening curriculum transformation: the integration of classical Islamic epistemology, alignment with digital pedagogical models, and embedding Islamic digital ethics as a core component of learning. This reconstruction is expected to produce learners who are spiritually grounded orientation that optimizes cognitive, affective, and psychomotor, digitally literate, and capable of navigating global challenges responsibly.
