Abstract

Online-offline BIPA learners' and teachers' preferences, constraints, and boredom based on teacher perceptions. Purpose: The research aims to describe preferences, energy, feedback, boredom, and constraints and test different teacher-student constraints. Method: The research population is BIPA teachers worldwide, and a sample of 100 people who have taught online-offline and are willing to complete the Google Form. Finding: Teachers and students prefer offline learning. Teachers need energy in offline learning and students in online learning. Student and teacher constraints are low, but more in online learning. Teachers and students experience more boredom in offline learning. The preference for online learning is due to its flexible and attractive media; the obstacle for teachers and students in online learning is an internet connection; the main causes of boredom in online learning are poor connection and long sitting in front of the computer. Conclusion: Offline learning is still preferable, despite much boredom. Keywords: constraints, preferences, boredom, post-pandemic, online-offline BIPA learning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202324

Abstract

Media Content Preferences and Perceptions Towards Dominant Value Orientations in Media Among Pre-Service Teachers. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the media content preferences and the perceptions towards dominant value orientations in media. Methods: This research employed a quantitative research design through the use of an online survey technique. Findings: The findings showed that there are gender differences in relation to the pre-service teachers' thematic content preferences. In terms of the preferable television program content and the gender of pre-service teachers, it revealed a statistically significant difference. A positive and negative correlation was also shown between the pre-service teachers' viewing habits and their perceptions of dominant values that are presented in various television programs, and in the pre-service teachers' preferences for music genres and the values promoted in several music videos. Conclusion: The findings in this study indicate that the media content preferences of pre-service teachers differ from their perception of media values.  Keywords: media content preferences, perceptions, value orientations.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202315

Abstract

Relevance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in the Employability of Computer Science Graduates. Objectives: A study was conducted to determine the relevance of Technical Education and Skills Development National Certification in relation to the employment/employability of computer science graduates of Eastern Samar State University, Philippines. Methods: A descriptive-correlational design was used and data was analyzed through mean, frequency and percentage distribution. A null hypothesis was tested using Cramer’s V association method to determine if there exist a correlation. Findings: The results showed that most graduates were employed, a significant number were National Certificate II (NC II) competency test passers, and many considered "not being prepared" as the major hindrance for not taking the said exam. Conclusion: the majority of graduates found NC II to be important in securing their current job and Cramer’s V score showed strong correlation and rejected the null hypothesis. Based on these findings, it is recommended that efforts to improve graduates' preparation for NC II exams should be continued or even intensified. Keywords: tvet, tesda, skills training, national skill’s certification, employability, computer science.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202338

Abstract

Academic Performance and Perception of Learners in Technology Subjects: A Flexible Learning Assessment. This study compared the academic performance of  the learners in flexible learning (FL) and face-to-face and determined the correlation of student perceptions and academic performance of the students in Technology subjects. The longitudinal and descriptive correlation research design were employed. Descriptive statistics was used to assess the learners' academic performance and ascertain their perception in FL. The paired-sample t-test was utilized to determine if there's a significant difference in the learners' academic performance. The Pearson Coefficient Binomial Correlation was used to determine if there's a significant relationship between their perception and academic performance. The results showed that their academic performance is very high, both FL and face-to-face. Also, the results revealed no significant difference in the learners' academic performance. Finally, the learners' perception is moderate, showing no significant relationship between the learners' perception and academic performance in FL. Keywords: flexible learning, academic performance, perception.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202346
