Abstract

Poverty is a problem that affects almost every country, including Indonesia as a developing nation. Poverty is multidimensional, with its causes not limited to a single factor but can occur due to several factors. This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of education, health and internet access on poverty in Indonesia in 2019-2023. This study uses a panel data regression equation analysis model in Eviews12 with the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results of this study indicate that (1) education has a positive and significant effect on poverty, (2) health has a negative and significant effect on poverty, (3) internet access has a positive and significant effect on poverty, (4) provincial minimum wage has a negative and significant effect on poverty in Indonesia, (5) local revenue has a negative and not significant effect on poverty in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to determine the effects of: (1) Industrialization (2) Gross Domestic Product percapita (3) forest area on ecological footprint in Indonesia. The data used in this research is time series data from 1992-2022. This research is quantitative research with the ECM (Error Correction Model) model. The observation results show that: (1) In the short term industrialization has a significant positive effect on environmental degradation in Indonesia. While Gross Domestic Product percapita and forest area have no significant effect on ecological footprint in Indonesia. (2) In the long-term industrialization has no significant effect on environmental degradation in Indonesia. While Gross Domestic Product percapita have a significant positive effect and forest area have a significant negative effect on ecological footprint in Indonesia. This study contributes to economic policy making, especially in improving environmental quality and formulating effective policies to reduce environmental damage in Indonesia. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of external shocks on the dynamics of Indonesia's macroeconomy, transmitted through its main trading partners China, Japan, and the United States, using the Structural Vector Autoregression (SVAR) method. Stationarity testing with the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test confirms that all variables are stationary at level. The optimal lag selection identifies lag 1 as providing the most stable model. The results show that Indonesia’s macroeconomic variables—trade balance, per capita investment, per capita consumption, and per capita economic growth—respond to external shocks in a fluctuating manner but tend to return to equilibrium in the long run. GDP shocks from China positively affect investment, consumption, and economic growth, although they worsen the trade balance due to increased imports. Shocks from Japan have a more limited positive effect, while shocks from the United States tend to have negative impacts through global financial channels. These findings highlight the importance of diversifying trade partners and strengthening the domestic economic structure. Furthermore, investment plays a critical role in driving long-term economic growth by creating jobs, enhancing efficiency, and increasing competitiveness. Therefore, maintaining a conducive investment climate and strengthening international trade are essential to improving Indonesia’s economic resilience and performance amid global economic dynamics.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and examine the impact of female labor force participation on household poverty alleviation in Indonesia. The research utilizes secondary data from the 2020 National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS) conducted by Statistics Indonesia. The variables in this study are categorized into three groups: the dependent variable, which is household poverty status; the independent variable, which is female labor force participation; and control variables, including the education level of the household head, number of household members, gender of the household head, marital status, divorce status, age of the household head, and access to credit. The analytical method employed is logistic regression using 2020 cross-sectional data. The results indicate that female labor force participation has a negative and significant effect on household poverty status, implying that it contributes to the reduction of household poverty in Indonesia.

Abstract

Improving human resource quality is one of the strategic priorities within Indonesia’s national development framework. Although the Human Development Index (HDI) shows an upward trend, its growth rate has tended to decelerate over time. This study aims to analyze the impact of the Information and Communication Technology Development Index (ICT Development Index) and ICT skills on human development in Indonesia. The analysis utilizes panel data from 34 provinces over the 2015–2023 period using a fixed effects model. The estimation results show that all independent variables have a statistically significant influence on the improvement of HDI. These findings indicate that technological progress and digital skills play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life. Therefore, policy formulation is needed to promote equitable access to information technology and the enhancement of digital capabilities as the foundation for inclusive and sustainable human development.

Abstract

Labor absorption reflects the company's capacity to employ labor. The large and medium-scale manufacturing sector has an important role in supporting the Indonesian economy, with the hope of providing added value and absorbing a significant amount of labor. This study aims to evaluate the effect of wage, capital, and output variables on the level of labor absorption in the sector, using panel data from 34 provinces during the period 2017 to 2022 through a fixed effect model approach. The results of the analysis show that wage and output variables have a positive and significant impact, while capital shows a negative and significant effect on labor absorption in the large and medium manufacturing industry sector. This finding suggests that increasing capital risks encouraging automation that reduces the role of labor. Therefore, policies are needed that support labor-intensive sectors so that technological efficiency remains in line with increasing employment opportunities.

Abstract

This research aims to determine and analyze the impact of natural disasters on inflation in Indonesia. This research uses secondary data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), in the form of panel data in 32 provinces in Indonesia. The dependent variable in this research is the inflation rate in each province in Indonesia. The independent variables of this research are the frequency of disasters, the level of damage due to disasters, and supply disruptions. As control variables, this research uses Realized Provincial Government Expenditures and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) Per Capita. This research analysis method uses panel data with a Random Effect Model (REM) approach. The main focus in this research is hydrometeorological disasters, because this type of disaster dominates natural disasters in Indonesia during the research period. The research results concluded that the frequency of disasters in the previous year (disaster frequency lag) had a significant effect on inflation in Indonesia. According to the types of disasters, only flood disasters have a positive and significant effect on inflation in Indonesia. Keywords : Inflation, Supply Disruptions, Disaster Frequency, APBD, GRDP Per Capita

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of financial inclusion on household welfare in Indonesia using a consumption diversification approach based on entropy. The data used is sourced from the 2020 National Socioeconomic Survey (SUSENAS) and analyzed using the Two-Stage Least Squares (2SLS) method. The Theil entropy index is applied to measure the level of household consumption diversification as an indicator of welfare. The results show that financial inclusion, through ownership of savings accounts and insurance, positively affects household consumption expenditure, while access to formal credit has a negative impact. Education level of the household head and region of residence also significantly influence consumption, with households in Java tending to have higher expenditure. Household consumption has a negative relationship with food consumption diversification but a positive relationship with non-food diversification, reflecting a shift in consumption patterns consistent with Engel’s Law. Furthermore, consumption diversification patterns are influenced by region, where households outside Java exhibit more diverse food consumption, while those in Java show greater non-food consumption diversity. Overall, access to financial services can encourage diversified consumption patterns that serve as key indicators in assessing household welfare.

Abstract

Enrolment in higher education is one of the indicators in improving the quality of human resources, but the cost of higher education continues to increase every year. This study aims to examine the impact of financial access on improving the quality of human capital. By using the variables of formal credit, personal loans, and leasing as indicators of financial access and participation of children aged 18 years and over continuing education to higher education as an indicator of the quality of human resources. This research uses logistic regression analysis with SUSENAS 2020 data. The results show that formal credit has a higher chance of continuing education to college than personal loans and leasing. Other factors such as education of the household head, occupation of the household head, age of the household, gender of the child, birth order of the child, completeness of parents, household consumption, region of residence, and region of residence all have a significant effect on children's participation in higher education. Improving financial access and ease of policy is recommended to increase children's participation in higher education in Indonesia.
