Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of public sector government expenditure on inclusive economic growth in West Sumatra Province. The main focus of this research is on four independent variables—government spending in the education, health, and infrastructure sectors, as well as the open unemployment rate—and their relationship with the dependent variable, the Inclusive Economic Growth Index (IEGI). The study utilizes panel data from 19 districts/cities in West Sumatra covering the period from 2017 to 2023. The analysis method applied is panel data regression, with model selection based on the Chow test, Hausman test, and classical assumption tests. The results show that government spending in the education sector has a positive but insignificant effect, spending in the health sector has a negative and insignificant effect, infrastructure spending has a positive and significant effect, and the open unemployment rate has a negative and significant effect on inclusive economic growth. Simultaneously, the four variables have a significant impact on the IEGI in West Sumatra. These findings highlight the importance of well-targeted regional government budget allocations in promoting equitable and inclusive economic development.

With economic growth as the dependent variable and natural resources, electricity infrastructure, road infrastructure, education infrastructure as independent variables, and domestic investment as control variables. The method used is a dynamic panel data approach with Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimation using Stata14 software. The results of the study show that in the short term, the variables of previous year's economic growth, natural resources, electricity infrastructure, road infrastructure, and domestic investment have a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Conversely, educational infrastructure shows a negative and significant effect on economic growth. In the long term, it shows that the variables of electricity infrastructure, road infrastructure, and domestic investment have a positive and significant effect on economic growth. Conversely, educational infrastructure shows a negative and significant effect and natural resources have a positive and insignificant effect on economic growth in Eastern Indonesia in 2016–2023.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and identify the influence of the Information and Communication Technology Development Index (IP-ICT) on income inequality in Indonesia. This study uses panel data from 34 provinces during the period 2015-2023. The analysis method used is beta regression. The results of the analysis show that ICT Development Index has a positive and significant effect on income inequality. These findings provide an illustration that ICT Development Index will drive income inequality up. Because non-inclusive ICT development can strengthen the dominance of certain groups in accessing digital-based economic opportunities, the government needs to design affirmative policies to ensure that the benefits of digital transformation can be enjoyed equally by all levels of society.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the influence of social and demographic characteristics on the availability of clean water and adequate sanitation facilities for households in Indonesia. The focus of the study includes the analysis of variables such as educational background, age range, gender, employment status of the head of the household, level of expenditure, home ownership status, area of residence and geographical location of residence. Methodologically, this study applies a quantitative approach through logistic regression analysis based on Susenas 2020 data with a sample of 334,229 households. The research findings reveal that factors of higher education, productive age, active employment status, adequate economic capacity, and rural location are positively associated with easy access to clean water and sanitation. On the other hand, households with male heads of households, property owners, and those residing in eastern Indonesia actually face limited access. These results identify disparities that require special handling through affirmative policies, especially for disadvantaged areas. Practically, these findings can be a reference in formulating equitable development programs to support the achievement of the SDGs, especially on the sixth goal on clean water and sanitation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the determinants of multidimensional poverty in eastern Indonesia during the period 2015–2021. The approach used is quantitative with panel data regression method, utilizing secondary data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and The Prakarsa. The variables analyzed include the open unemployment rate, high school completion rate, life expectancy, and slum area level on the multidimensional poverty rate (AKM) in 13 provinces. The estimation results show that the high school completion rate and life expectancy have a negative and significant effect on multidimensional poverty, while the open unemployment rate and slum area have no significant effect. This finding confirms that increasing access to and quality of secondary education and improving public health are key factors in reducing multidimensional deprivation in eastern Indonesia. The implications of this study highlight the importance of integrated development policies, not only focusing on increasing income, but also needing to be directed at strengthening community capabilities through inclusive education and health as the main strategy for alleviating multidimensional poverty. Keywords: multidimensional poverty, unemployment, education, life expectancy, slums
