This research investigates the impact of governance on economic growth in 47 Asian countries over the period 2013 to 2022. Adopting a quantitative approach, the research relies on secondary data sourced from the World Bank. Panel data regression analysis is employed. The Fixed Effect Model is determined to be the most suitable estimation method. Data analysis is conducted using EViews 13. The results indicate that: (1) Voice and accountability, along with political stability and absence of violence/terrorism, have a significant effect on economic growth. (2) Control variables, specifically foreign direct investment and labor force participation rate, also demonstrate significant influence. (3) Among these, the labor force participation rate consistently shows a strong positive impact on economic growth.

Abstract

Since the 1998 monetary crisis, Indonesia's economy has grown positively, but its distribution is still uneven, especially for low-income groups. This study analyzes the influence of regional economic structure and foreign investment on inclusive growth in Indonesia for the 2019–2023 period using panel data from 34 provinces and the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) method. The results show that the trade, Foreign Investment (FDI), and education sectors have a significant positive effect, while the services sector has a negative effect on inclusive growth. The agriculture, mining, industry, and ICT skills sectors have no significant effect. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening trade, education, and the optimization of foreign investment to drive more equitable growth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effect of Economic Policy Uncertainty (EPU) on banking risk perception in Indonesia. The data used is panel data from 48 commercial banks during the period 2007 to 2023. The analysis method used is panel data regression with Seemingly Unrelated Regression (SUR) approach and processed using EViews software. The results showed that the variables of EPU, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), inflation, Return on Assets (ROA), and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) had a significant effect on the perception of banking risk. An increase in EPU has an effect on increasing risk perception, which indicates that banks tend to be more cautious in the face of economic policy uncertainty. In addition, macroeconomic variables such as inflation, GDP, ROA, and LDR also influence changes in bank risk perception. This finding confirms the important role of macroeconomic factors in managing risk and maintaining the stability of the banking sector in Indonesia.

The data used in this study is sourced from banking annual reports, Bank Indonesia (BI), and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) during the period of 2007–2023. The analysis method applied is Generalized Ordered Logistic Regression to classify the levels of ROA of banks and identify the impact of risk-taking behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of monetary policy shocks in Indonesia over time using the Time-Varying Vector Autoregression (TV-VAR) approach. The main focus is to identify the effectiveness of monetary policy transmission channels, particularly the interest rate and credit channels. The analysis reveals that the effects of monetary policy shocks are dynamic and have evolved over time. The transmission of monetary policy through the interest rate channel appears to be more effective in influencing macroeconomic variables, especially in curbing inflation and economic growth. In contrast, the credit channel exhibits a relatively weak and insignificant response, indicating that the role of banking intermediation in supporting economic growth remains suboptimal. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening and optimizing the interest rate transmission mechanism as the primary instrument for conveying the monetary policy stance, particularly in maintaining price stability.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the extent of convergence among districts and cities in the Riau Islands Province. The data used is sourced from the BPS during the period from 2019 to 2023, involving seven district/city areas. This convergence approach aims to determine whether regions with lagging economies can catch up with more economically advanced areas. Sigma convergence is analyzed by looking at the coefficient of variation of GDP per capita, while beta convergence is tested through panel data regression. The results of the study indicate that both sigma and beta convergence occur in this area. In addition, the Domestic Investment (PMDN) variable has a positive effect on per capita income, although the effect is not significant. Conversely, the Open Unemployment Rate variable has a significant negative effect on per capita income.
