Abstract

Tiny houses generally emphasise more on design balance than size, users will prefer to use multifunctional furniture to minimise the use of a lot of furniture and optimize space (Pratiwi, 2023). The small size makes room divisions made as efficient as possible but sufficient for the needs of residents. So this research was conducted to find anthropometric movement systems of Indonesians against tiny houses. In this study, measurement data from research objects were simulated through the identification of space functions, furniture and activities in it.Then described in the form of layouts by displaying space patterns and functions. The population living in the 3(three) types of tiny houses located in 3(three) different areas in Bali. Simulation is done using computers and software in the form of Sketch Up. From the results of the study, it can be seen that tiny houses with thoughtful design can turn even the smallest space into a functional and comfortable living environment. The room looks bigger and multifunctional when combined. The use of minimalist furniture also affects the design of the existing room, where the right selection makes a broad impression, but otherwise the room can seem cramped.

Abstract

The Chinatown area of Petudungan Street in Semarang City is a rich cultural and historical heritage site, especially in the context of traditional Chinese architecture. This research aims to analyze the elements of changes in building facades in that area which reflect the dynamics of social and economic development in the Chinese community. The research methods involve visual surveys, interviews with building owners, and analysis of historical documentation. The research findings indicate several elements of change in building facades, such as the use of modern materials, structural modifications, and the use of different colors. Despite these facade changes reflecting the passage of time, many traditional elements are retained to preserve cultural identity. The benefits of this research include a better understanding of the transformation of the Petudungan Chinatown area in the context of social and economic development. The results can serve as a guide for stakeholders such as building owners, developers, and local governments to understand and manage changes in building facades while considering the sustainability of cultural identity.

Abstract

Humans learn from the environment by absorbing information through the five senses. For architecture students to be in a space, which means being in an educational medium, because learning about architecture is learning about space. Study spaces such as studios are educational environments close to architecture students. The interior elements of the studio consisting of walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, furniture, and accessories that are captured visually have become a separate learning medium for architecture students. However, there are other educational information that is not captured visually that has not been conveyed. These elements can be increased their educational value by providing additional information in accordance with the specifications of each element. The spatial element whose educational value is enhanced in this study is the studio of Architecture, which is a place for architecture students to learn about space design. This study uses a rationalistic paradigm with a qualitative deductive approach. Information added to spatial elements is information that is not captured visually. Additional information is applied with infographics. The delivery of information through the elements of space does not only make the studio a place for learning, but also increases it into a learning medium.

Abstract

The significant growth of cities worldwide led to more than half of the global population residing in urban areas, with urbanization projected to have reached 68% by 2050. However, this growth also brought negative impacts on urban environments, one of which was the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect, where urban areas with dense buildings experienced higher temperatures than their suburban counterparts. Urban morphology, which focused on the formation and transformation of urban areas, served as a crucial indicator for urban planning, information management, and urban climate applications. The increased urban air temperatures significantly influenced the outdoor thermal comfort (OTC) of urban residents. This study aimed to establish a relationship between urban morphology and outdoor thermal comfort in tropical climates using the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) to assess thermal comfort. The research findings indicate that larger Building Site Coverage leads to lower UTCI values, suggesting improved thermal comfort. Conversely, smaller building site coverage results in higher UTCI values, indicating less favorable thermal comfort. Simulation analysis of Outdoor Thermal Comfort reveals a distribution of cooler thermal conditions between buildings on the east and west sides, while the north and south sides experience warmer thermal conditions.

Abstract

To accelerate regional development in Banten Province, especially in the Development Work Area (WKP) II, which includes Serang City, Cilegon City, and Serang Regency, one of the efforts that needs to be made is to accelerate development in the Provincial Strategic Area (KSP). However, this will affect how much space is needed for activities, so it is necessary to control the area. One way to do this is through the arrangement of buildings and the environment. In determining the area to be developed, studies are needed to obtain potential locations so that they can be directed to buildings and environments that are expected to control the development of the area as well as maintain sustainable development. The purpose of this study is to identify potential locations and provide direction for building and environmental arrangements in potential locations at the KSP in WKP II. Data collection methods include desk study and survey methods, data processing with overlay analysis methods, and qualitative descriptive analysis. This research resulted in potential locations to be developed in KSP at WKP II, which include Serang City Veteran Road Corridor, Anyer Urban Area, the area around Situ Rawa Arum Cilegon City, Old Banten Site Area, KP3B Surrounding Area, Cikeusal Toll Opening Corridor, and Kopo Residential Area.

Abstract

Columns are components or parts of a building that function as the main structure of the building. In some cases, building columns have also developed an aesthetic function that displays artistic value on the facade. Therefore, proper and thorough planning of the columns will highlight the unique character of the building. The aim of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of main columns and practical columns as structural and aesthetic elements in building design. The emphasis on the importance of column aesthetics is the novelty of this research. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method using a theoretical approach, a literature study, and field observation. The conclusion results show that building forming factors are elements that link the value of the shape and structure of the columns so that they become their own visual attraction. Therefore, architects must be careful when considering these elements to create synergy and harmony between structure and architecture.

Abstract

The village of Labuhan Lalar is a village with the highest number of fishermen in West Sumbawa Regency. In 2015, the government initiated the construction of housing specifically for the fishermen community there. After being relocated to these fishermen's housing and living there for the past 8 years, it is necessary to reassess the extent to which the performance of this housing has impacted the lives of its residents. The post-occupancy evaluation in this study aims to assess the housing's performance in supporting the health of its occupants. This research employs a deductive quantitative approach. The evaluation in this study falls under the post-implementation evaluation phase (ex-post) conducted after the plan has been implemented. The results indicate that technical elements such as humidity, ventilation, noise, flooring, roofing, and walls of the housing did not perform well in supporting the health of the fishermen's housing residents, leading to a decline in health post-occupancy. This finding could serve as input for the development of new standards and regulations to better address health aspects in housing design and construction. This could influence potential occupants’ preferences before purchasing, renting, or building their own homes with a focus on health considerations.
