Abstract

This study examined the role of digital libraries in preserving and making climate change research and policy documents accessible to Adult Learners and Community Development in Osun State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was employed, and data were collected from 92 respondents. Comprising librarians, digital preservation officers, faculty members, and ICT staff, A total of 92 staff members, comprising librarians and digital preservation officers, Faculty members, and ICT staff across four university libraries: Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; Osun State University, Osogbo; Bowen University, Iwo; and Redeemer’s University, Ede. Of the 92 questionnaires administered, 77 were returned and found usable, representing an 83.05% response rate. The results revealed that the availability of climate change-related materials in the libraries was excellent (mean = 2.92), whereas accessibility was moderate (mean = 2.85). Significant challenges identified include poor internet connectivity (76%), high cost of maintaining digital preservation infrastructure (68%), inadequate funding (64%), and limited collaboration with external organizations (59%). The study concluded that improving digital preservation infrastructure and sustainable funding mechanisms are critical for enhancing access to climate change information. It is therefore recommended that university libraries invest in advanced digital preservation technologies, foster partnerships, and promote inclusive services for adult learners and community development.

Abstract

This paper discusses the issues and opportunities in implementing science education for sustainable development (SESD) in Nigeria. It revealed a significant and persistent disconnect between the country's progressive policies and their actual on-the-ground implementation. Although the country’s policy framework is geared towards global requirements, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a multifaceted set of challenges is likely to impede its implementation in Nigeria. These consist of chronic underinvestment, with the education budget in 2025 at 7.3%, significantly lower than UNESCO's recommendation of 15–20%. This financial deficit results in a profound lack of modern infrastructure, a shortage of qualified and motivated teachers, and the reliance on outdated, rote-learning pedagogical techniques. Nevertheless, strategic opportunities for transformation were also presented. These approaches involve multi-stakeholder partnerships among the government, NGOs, and communities, the strategic use of technology to overcome resource constraints, and the reform of teacher training and curriculum to be more practical and problem-based. The conclusion is that it is essential to bridge this gap to transform the country nationally, and that this should be a collective effort to inject more funding, restructure the education system, and establish accountability to realize Nigeria’s potential for a sustainable future.

Abstract

The Effect of Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy Toward Students Announcement Writing Skill at the Eleventh Grade of SMAN 9 Pandeglang in Academic Years 2025/2026. The study was initiated by observing a persistent gap in the writing of announcements by eleventh-grade students at SMAN 9 Pandeglang. This deficiency suggests a critical need for pedagogical interventions to address challenges in constructing clear, informative, and structurally sound announcement texts, thereby enhancing overall communicative competence. The primary objective of this quantitative study was to empirically evaluate the impact of implementing the Think-Talk-Write (TTW) strategy on improving students' announcement-writing skills. Using a robust quasi-experimental design, the study recruited a carefully selected sample of 64 eleventh-grade students. This sample was strategically divided into an experimental group (32 students) and a control group (32 students) to facilitate direct comparison. Writing proficiency was systematically assessed through pre-test and post-test evaluations using a standardized writing test instrument. Data analysis, conducted using an independent t-test in SPSS version 22, revealed a statistically significant difference in performance. Specifically, the experimental group, which received the TTW strategy intervention, achieved a substantially higher mean post-test score (80.94) compared to the control group (65.75), with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Based on these compelling findings, it is conclusively determined that the Think-Talk-Write (TTW) strategy is a highly effective pedagogical tool for significantly enhancing students’ writing skills in announcements.
