Abstract

Indonesia's innovation index is low, presenting a challenge for healthcare services like RSUD Sidoarjo Barat, which faces issues with staff problem-solving skills and innovation motivation, leading to a decline in innovation output. This community service activity aimed to accelerate problem-solving and foster innovation through the establishment and implementation of the Prima Innovation Incubator at RSUD Sidoarjo Barat (INSPIRA). The activity involved structured steps including problem identification, analysis, solution development, and INSPIRA implementation with training and a digital platform in selected units. Results showed a significant increase in staff understanding (pre-post test scores) and a substantial rise in the number of innovations generated (from 4 to 16, a 300% increase). The INSPIRA program successfully transformed staff mindset and empowered them to generate new solutions. In conclusion, INSPIRA is an effective breakthrough addressing innovation challenges, significantly increasing innovation capacity and contributing to service improvement

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant public health challenge, particularly in developing regions. In Jatisari Village, the prevalence of stunting among children under five necessitates targeted interventions to improve nutritional outcomes. This community service initiative addressed this critical issue by focusing on improving maternal knowledge and practices related to complementary feeding. This program aimed to enhance mothers' understanding of stunting prevention and provide practical guidance on preparing nutritious and age-appropriate complementary foods (MPASI) for their infants in Jatisari Village. The activity utilized a two-pronged approach: interactive health education sessions to convey theoretical knowledge about stunting and MPASI, followed by hands-on demonstrations and direct assistance in preparing MPASI. A pre-test and post-test methodology was employed to assess the immediate impact of the intervention on participants' knowledge levels. The comparative analysis of pre-test and post-test scores demonstrated a significant improvement in participants' knowledge regarding stunting prevention and the proper preparation of MPASI. This indicates the effectiveness of the educational and practical intervention in enhancing understanding. The positive shift in knowledge among mothers suggests that targeted educational and practical support can play a crucial role in combating stunting. This intervention is expected to contribute to improved feeding practices and ultimately, better nutritional status and optimal growth for children in Jatisari Village.

Sports are one of the activities that aim to maintain physical fitness and restore physical and mental health. One of the problems that often arises when someone does sports is fatigue. Fatigue is a decrease in the quality and quantity of work or sports activities caused by or resulting from doing certain work or sports. One way to overcome this is to use isotonic drinks. Coconut water is one source of isotonic drinks. The purpose of implementing this activity is to increase knowledge related to the use of electrolyte drinks and improve participants' skills in making electrolyte drinks from natural ingredients, namely coconut water. The method of implementing this activity begins with a pretest, providing material with lectures, discussions, and Q&A, demonstrations of how to make electrolyte drinks from coconut water, and post-tests. The results of the activity evaluation showed that education was able to increase knowledge related to the use of isotonic drinks and the skills of making isotonic drinks in members of the Sekolah Lansia Tangguh (SELANTANG). Abstract

Children aged 1–3 years are in a critical phase of growth and development, yet they often face sleep-related problems that can interfere with their overall development. This community service activity aims to improve understanding of how to enhance sleep quality in children aged 1–3 years through massage and aromatherapy. The method used was educational counseling conducted over one month, from May 1 to May 30, 2025, involving 30 participants. After the counseling sessions and sleep quality assessments using a questionnaire, the results showed that 16 children (53.4%) had good sleep quality, and 14 children (46.6%) had moderate sleep quality. In conclusion, this community service activity demonstrates that providing education to mothers of toddlers about massage and lavender aromatherapy can have a positive impact on improving sleep quality in children aged 1–3 years. This activity serves as an initial step in efforts to improve sleep quality through an educational approach and effective communication between healthcare providers and the community, and is expected to support sustainable improvements in sleep quality for children aged 1–3 years.

Abstract

The use of long-term contraceptives such as the Intra Uterine Device (IUD) is still relatively low even though it has high effectiveness in delaying pregnancy. The low interest of women of childbearing age (WUS) in IUD birth control is influenced by a lack of knowledge, negative perceptions, and lack of partner support. This community service activity aims to increase interest in the use of birth control IUDs through providing comprehensive and educational counseling to WUS in Garahan Village, Silo District. The activity method is in the form of individual counseling and counseling with an interactive approach. The target of the activity was 97 WUS which were selected using purposive sampling techniques based on inclusion criteria. The intervention was carried out through one counseling session lasting 30 minutes which was delivered using leaflet media and direct discussions. Evaluation was carried out using pretest and posttest questionnaires to measure changes in interest before and after counseling. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in interest in using birth control IUDs after counseling interventions. Before counseling, most respondents showed low to moderate interest, but after counseling more than 76% of respondents showed high interest in using birth control IUDs. This proves that counseling is effective in raising awareness, dispelling myths, and improving attitudes towards IUD birth control. It is recommended that family planning counseling activities become a routine program that involves the active participation of health workers and families, especially couples, to support the increase in the use of long-term contraceptive methods in a sustainable manner.
