Abstract

Knowledge about natural disaster mitigation is an obstacle in disaster risk management efforts in various regions. Limited communities living in disaster-prone areas still lack adequate knowledge and training on how to reduce the impact of disasters. Children who should receive basic information about disaster mitigation, often do not get knowledge related to disaster mitigation. The purpose of community service is to increase students' knowledge about disaster mitigation of Mount Semeru so as to build a community that is responsive to disasters. The activity implementation mechanism is divided into three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results of community service are before health education on disaster mitigation of Mount Semeru, the majority of elementary school students have less knowledge related to disaster mitigation, namely 54 students or 83%. However, after being given knowledge about Mount Semeru Disaster Mitigation, student knowledge increased to 48 students or 74% good. Community service activities to increase the disaster mitigation knowledge of elementary school students in the Mount Semeru area can increase the disaster mitigation literacy of elementary school students to increase. Elementary school students can recognise and identify the threat of volcanic eruption, understand the status of early warning, and actions taken during pre-disaster.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are long-term illnesses. One of them is hypertension. Risk factors for NCDs include lifestyle, diet, physical activity and genetic factors. Handling NCDs requires special attention, including basic health services that are affordable and easily accessible. Implementation of early detection of PTM has been carried out at the Patrang Community Health Center, but the implementation has not been effective because the implementation process takes too long. The method used is to summarize the flow and bring the early detection post closer to other inspection location elements. The innovation of OVERCOMING noncommunicable diseases with PATRANG is one solution for implementing early detection of non-communicable diseases. The results of community service show that the implementation of early detection with this innovation is effective and there is an increase in patient satisfaction with the NCD detection innovation service.

Abstract

Breast milk is a good natural food for babies, practical, economical, and easy to digest. The marmet technique is a technique of expressing breast milk manually by hand which stimulates the mother's milk glands to produce more milk. The low coverage of babies who receive exclusive breastfeeding in the working area of the Ajung Health Center and the targets set by the Jember District Health Office have not achieved. The purpose of this service is to socialize giving breast massage using the marmet technique to increase milk production for postpartum mothers in the working area of the Ajung Health Center. The socialization target for postpartum mothers is 30 people who are divided into two groups, namely 15 intervention groups and 15 control groups. Of the 30 people who took the pre-test to the post-test, it was found that most of the milk production had increased. Based on the results of community service, it can be said that the use of the marmet technique is one of the efforts to increase the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding so that it reaches the set targets.

Abstract

Soap is a material used for washing clothes, furniture, the body, etc. which is made from a mixture of alkali and triglycerides from fat. However, as time goes by, today's people are using ready-to-use sponges and washing soap in various forms and their respective advantages. Currently, many dishwashing soaps use herbal ingredients as their active substances. Coriander seeds and orange oil are herbal ingredients that can be used as antibacterial ingredients which can be used as active ingredients in making dishwashing soap. The village community's lack of knowledge regarding herbal ingredients and how to make dish soap has closed down business opportunities in Kopang Kebun Hamlet, Kemuning Lor Village, Arjasa District, Jember Regency. Therefore, village communities need training to process these herbal ingredients into products that are safe for the environment. The aim of this program for making liquid dish washing soap is to empower the women of Kopang Kebun Hamlet, most of whom are housewives, so that with this outreach, the community can make their own liquid soap to meet their daily needs and can also be used as a home industry.

The purpose of this community service is to socialize the importance of mental health of pregnant women with the slogan “SUAMI” Guarded by Prosperous Pregnant Women. This community service was conducted with a descriptive approach using the “SUAMI” Slogan (Support system; Unplug from negativity; Positive activities; Me-time; Include adequate rest). The community service targets were 27 third trimester pregnant women who filled out mental health questionnaires before and after the socialization took place. The results of community service show that there is an increase in mental health before and after being given socialization by 28%. Based on the above, it can be concluded that the provision of socialization with the slogan “SUAMI” Guarded by Prosperous Pregnant Women can improve maternal mental health by reducing maternal health problems from anxiety to depression.

Abstract

Elderly experience various changes in body function, including cognitive function. The elderly at PSTW Banyuwangi showed signs of decreased memory abilities, which affected their ability to interact with other elderly people. Therefore, efforts need to be made to combine brain exercise and music therapy, called Terapi Buma (Brain Gym and Goyang Dumang Combination Therapy). The aim of this activity is to empower efforts aimed at preventing the decline in cognitive abilities in the elderly. The method used is in the form of a preparatory stage, including preparing the Buma Therapy Standart Operation Procedure (SOP), and data collection using the Mini Mental State Exam (MMSE) questionnaire. This program was done two times for a week with duration of 15 minutes each, by providing brain exercise and physical activity by following the music of the Goyang Dumang song. Combination of goyang dumang music and brain gyms has an effect on improving the average cognitive score. This brain exercise, combined with rocking dumang music therapy, can improve cognitive function. Listening to energetic music can increase the listener's spirit. Terapi BUMA can become a routine activity to be implemented for elderly people with dementia at PSTW Banyuwangi.

Abstract

Hepatitis is an inflammation of liver cells that is often caused by infections (viruses, bacteria, parasites), consumption of drugs, obesity, and autoimmune diseases. This inflammation can worsen from acute to chronic inflammation of the liver. The course of hepatitis B disease can be divided into several phases, including the incubation period, acute phase, aggregation window period, and recovery period. Each stage has a certain duration and different clinical symptoms in patients, as well as serological features that can be used to determine the stage a person is in. Transmission of the hepatitis virus through percutaneous and mucous membranes infected by blood, semen, vaginal secretions and saliva. In extreme cases, hepatitis B can survive for more than a week on dry surfaces, thus increasing cases of transmission within a family. One way to prevent this Hepatitis disease is to do early examination or screening for teenagers in schools, against this disease, using HbsAg examination (immunochromatography/ICT method). And the results of the HbsAg screening test at this school on 25 students, all the results were non-reactive (-). So it can be concluded that none of the teenagers examined were infected with Hepatitis

Abstract

Breast milk is the natural first food for babies, providing all the energy and nutrients a baby needs for the first months of life (1). According to the World Health Organization (WHO), babies should be given exclusive breastfeeding for at least 6 months and continue to be given until the child is 2 years old (2). This is done with the aim of reducing the number of infant morbidity and mortality (2). Breast milk production is important in the breastfeeding process (2). Improving the quality of foods that can stimulate the release of breast milk, such as green vegetables, katuk leaves, sweet potato leaves, papaya, and so on, is one way to increase breast milk production (7). Katuk leaves contain polyphenols and steroids that play a role in the prolactin reflex or stimulate the alveoli to produce breast milk, and contain sterols with estrogenic properties that stimulate the hormone oxytocin to facilitate the release of breast milk, so katuk leaves are recommended for mothers who have difficulty breastfeeding (8). The purpose of this Community Service Activity is expected to provide knowledge both in theory and practical skills to breastfeeding mothers at PMB Mimik Suwarminingsih, Amd.Keb, and to help mothers who experience difficulties in providing breast milk. The methods used in this community service activity use health promotion, support, and empowerment methods that target pregnant and postpartum women.
