Abstract

Anxiety before the Competency Examination (UKOM) is a common psychological issue among health students that can reduce concentration, self-confidence, and exam performance. One effective non-pharmacological approach to manage anxiety is five-finger hypnosis therapy, a simple self-relaxation technique combining positive suggestions and focused concentration. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of five-finger hypnosis therapy in reducing anxiety levels among students preparing for the UKOM at STIKes Piala Sakti Pariaman. A pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach was employed. The sample consisted of 20 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a standardized anxiety questionnaire and analyzed with a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant decrease in anxiety after the intervention. The mean anxiety score before therapy was 68.75 and decreased to 34.15 after therapy, with a mean difference of 34.60 and a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). The number of students with no anxiety increased from 55% to 85%. These findings indicate that five-finger hypnosis therapy effectively reduces pre-exam anxiety. Therefore, it is recommended that this method be implemented as a simple, practical, and independent relaxation technique to support students’ mental readiness before competency examinations. Abstract

The third trimester of pregnancy often causes anxiety due to fear of childbirth, concerns about fetal safety, and psychological readiness as a mother. One non-pharmacological method that can be applied to reduce anxiety is pregnancy exercise. This study aimed to determine the effect of pregnancy exercise on anxiety levels among third trimester pregnant women at Public Health Center Pariaman in 2025. This research employed a pre- experimental design with a one group pre-test and post-test approach. The population consisted of all third trimester pregnant women in the working area of the Public Health Center Pariaman. A total of 16 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The instrument used was the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the paired sample t-test. The findings showed that before the exercise, most respondents experienced mild anxiety (56.3%), moderate anxiety (31.3%), and severe anxiety (12.5%). After the intervention, most respondents experienced mild anxiety (50%), some had no anxiety (31.3%), and a few experienced moderate anxiety (18.8%). No respondents experienced severe anxiety. The paired sample t- test showed a significant difference (p = 0.000; p < 0.05) with a mean difference of 6.438 points. Pregnancy exercise significantly reduces anxiety levels among third trimester pregnant women. It is recommended that health workers regularly conduct pregnancy exercise sessions and encourage pregnant women to actively participate to improve physical and psychological readiness for childbirth. Abstract

Diabetic foot ulcers are chronic wounds that are difficult to heal. Tissue damage in diabetic foot ulcers is caused by neurological (neuropathy) and vascular disorders in the legs. These disorders do not directly cause diabetic foot ulcers, but rather begin with a mechanism that reduces pain sensation, causes callus formation, and reduces blood flow that carries oxygen and nutrients to the tissues. One treatment option for managing diabetic ulcers to maintain stable blood glucose levels is non-pharmacological therapy in the form of autogenic relaxation. Autogenic relaxation is a technique for relaxing the body and mind. This study used a case study method with a nursing care approach. The assessment was conducted on patients with diabetic ulcers. The nursing intervention was autogenic relaxation therapy. The results of the intervention were evaluated by measuring glucose levels before and after the relaxation. The results of the application showed that autogenic relaxation performed for 3 consecutive days can reduce random glucose levels in patients with diabetic ulcers and unstable blood glucose levels, with an average decrease of 10-15 mg/dL. It can be concluded that the application of autogenic relaxation can reduce random blood glucose levels in patients with Type 2 DM. Abstract

Adolescence is a developmental period characterized by biological, psychological, and social changes that may influence behavior and decision-making related to reproductive health. Lack of accurate information regarding sexual health may increase the risk of risky sexual behaviors among adolescents. One effort to prevent these problems is through reproductive health education using an approach that is appropriate to adolescents’ characteristics. This study aimed to determine the effect of Smart Sexual Education health education using a Peer Educator approach on adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes toward risky sexual behaviors at SMKN 2 Pariaman. This study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 35 students of SMKN 2 Pariaman selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using knowledge and attitude questionnaires administered before and after the health education intervention. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analyses with statistical tests based on data distribution at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed an increase in adolescents’ knowledge after receiving Smart Sexual Education with a Peer Educator approach. The percentage of respondents with good knowledge increased from 22.9% to 80%, with statistical analysis showing a p-value of 0.001. Furthermore, positive attitudes among adolescents increased from 37.1% to 85.7%, with a p-value of 0.002. The study concludes that Smart Sexual Education health education using a Peer Educator approach has a significant effect on improving adolescents’ knowledge and changing their attitudes toward risky sexual behaviors. This approach can serve as an effective alternative strategy for reproductive health education in school settings.
