Abstract

Diarrhea is still one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in almost all geographic regions in the world, where all age groups can be attacked by diarrhea. Toddlers are an age group that is vulnerable to disease because their immune systems are still weak so they are easily attacked by bacterial, viral and parasitic infections. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers in the Candi Sidoarjo Health Center work area. This research method uses descriptive research involving 44 respondents. Data collection using observation sheets. The results of the examination showed that most respondents had a clean water source (68%), healthy toilets (66%), but there were still SPAL and trash bins that did not meet the requirements (48% and 52% respectively). In addition, although most mothers had good hand washing behavior (86%), diarrhea was still found. The conclusion of this study is that environmental and behavioral factors, especially those related to SPAL, waste management, and hand hygiene, play an important role in the incidence of diarrhea in toddlers. Education efforts and improvement of sanitation facilities are needed to reduce the prevalence of diarrhea in toddlers in the Candi Sidoarjo Health Center area.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic condition characterized by elevated blood glucose levels caused by problems with insulin secretion and function. Proper nutritional management is a key component in controlling blood glucose. Stable blood sugar levels can be maintained with a nutritious diet and avoiding unhealthy foods. This study used a cross-sectional methodology and a descriptive analytical strategy. Thirty-four people with diabetes mellitus in Wonoayu Village were sampled using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a 24-hour food recall form and blood glucose measurements using a glucometer. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The study findings showed a strong correlation between dietary habits and blood glucose levels (p = 0.000). Compared with patients with poor dietary habits, individuals with good dietary habits tended to have normal blood glucose levels. This study demonstrates the importance of dietary habits in regulating blood glucose levels, including the type, amount, and timing of meals. To improve adherence to the recommended diet for people with diabetes mellitus, education about healthy eating is crucial.

Abstract

High blood pressure, often known as hypertension, is a common medical issue that can lead to major problems like stroke and cardiovascular diseases. Unhealthy lifestyle choices and a lack of knowledge about hypertension among those who are afflicted are typically linked to the start of the ailment. The research design used in this study was descriptive. A total of 84 respondents diagnosed with hypertension in the working area of Sukodono Public Health Center were recruited using a cross-sectional approach. The frequency distribution revealed that, among the 84 participants, knowledge of hypertension was categorized as good in 30 individuals (35.7%), moderate in 33 individuals (39.2%), and poor in 21 individuals (25.0%). Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the level of knowledge among hypertensive patients at Sukodono Public Health Center, Sidoarjo District, was predominantly at a moderate level, represented by 33 participants. The majority of these patients were between 51–60 years old, female, unemployed or housewives, and had attained a senior high school level of education. Abstract

Hypertension, a highly prevalent non-communicable disease, can lead to serious complications including kidney failure and stroke. It is well recognized that unhealthy dietary patterns significantly influence blood pressure stability. This study aimed to examine the correlation between dietary habits and blood pressure stability among individuals with hypertension at Sukodono Primary Health Center. A cross-sectional methodology with a quantitative descriptive design was employed. The sample, obtained through consecutive sampling, consisted of 43 respondents. Data were collected using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and direct blood pressure measurements taken during three visits. Descriptive analysis with frequency and percentage distributions was applied. The findings showed that 17 respondents (40%) had unhealthy dietary habits, while 26 respondents (60%) reported healthy dietary patterns. Sixteen respondents (37%) experienced unstable blood pressure, whereas 27 respondents (63%) had stable blood pressure. The majority of respondents with healthy dietary patterns generally maintained stable blood pressure (96%), while most of those with unhealthy dietary patterns demonstrated unstable circulation (88%). This study concludes that nutritious food intake is strongly correlated with blood pressure stability in hypertensive patients. At the primary care level, modifying diets to reduce saturated fat and salt while increasing the intake of fruits and vegetables represents an essential strategy for managing hypertension
