Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is an indicator of the impact of health development. The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) causes of are direct and indirect factors. These two factors can be prevented through prevention efforts based on community empowerment. One effort that can be made to empower the community is through empowering health cadres. This activity can be carried out through training to carry out pregnancy assistance by cadres. The aim of this training activity is to increase health cadres' knowledge about mentoring programs for pregnant women and skills in providing communication, information and education (KIE) related to the health of pregnant women and early detection of risky pregnancies. The method used is cadre group-based training in the Arjowinangun Malang Community Health Center area. The activity takes the form of cadre training regarding health assistance for pregnant women by health cadres. The results of this research showed that there was an increase in pre and posttest scores (74.6% in the sufficient category, to 91.15% in the good category). Meanwhile, the skills evaluation was in the good category (85.42%). The conclusion is that refreshing the material for cadres is necessary for optimal assistance for pregnant women. This pregnancy assistance program by cadres should become a Community Health Center program whose implementation also receives full support from the village government, and there are ongoing monitoring and evaluation efforts.

Abstract

Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) is a program that focuses on the main childhood diseases that occur in children under five years of age with a focus on pneumonia (acute respiratory infection), diarrhea, malaria, measles, dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), ear and malnutrition. Diarrhea is a global health problem that causes high morbidity and mortality in developing countries due to poor environmental sanitation and hygiene, inadequate water supply, poverty and limited access to education. IMCI is a strategy that focuses on child as a whole, not on a single disease or condition, but on a combination of illnesses that need to be treated in an integrated manner at home and in primary health care facilities. Based on the Becora Community Health Center report that cases handled using the IMCI strategy totaled 2,204 cases in 2021, 4,273 cases in 2022 and 3,160 cases, from January to June 2023. Diarrhea cases ranked first, namely 584 cases in 2021, and in 2022 experienced an increase to 758 cases and until June 2023 cases of diarrhea reached 416 cases. The purpose of this residency is to know the management of cases of diarrhea by using IMCI strategies at the Becora Health Center, Dili, Timor Leste. Using descriptive studies because they only wanted to know the frequency distribution of cases handled with IMCI and specifically wanted to observe the management procedures in cases with diarrhea. Based on the results residence from 17-29 July 2023, 598 cases were not handled according to the IMCI strategy, of which 10.37% (n=62) cases had diarrhea and 0.5% (n=3) dysentery cases. In accordance with the results of observations that the IMCI management procedures are not in accordance with ministry standards or policies issued by the Ministry of Health Timor Leste. During residence it appears that health professionals conducting consultations are more directed to using general consultations than using the IMCI strategy.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the most common disorders in women. This disease can affect the cells in the cervix which can be dangerous if not treated immediately. Even so, symptoms can appear after the cancer cells have spread, so early treatment is difficult. The incidence of cervical cancer which is still quite high is influenced by early detection behavior which is still low. Several puskesmas in the city of Kediri already have IVA test examination programs, but the achievement is still low because the motivation of mothers to do early detection is still lacking. Therefore, it is recommended that every woman have a routine examination of the uterus every year. One of the tests that can be done to detect cervical cancer is the IVA test. The purpose of community service is to improve the knowledge of women of childbearing age in the examination of the IVA Test, and early detection of cervical cancer in women of childbearing age. The method used to achieve these goals is participatory action research among others through Forum Group Discussion (FGD), questions and answers, and conducting IVA examination, Outcomes of these activities are in the form of goods and services. In the form of goods in the form of scientific publications through journals. The outcomes in the form of services are our health education on the IVA Test and examination of IVA. There is an increase in the knowledge and attitudes of mothers in conducting early detection of cervical cancer. Some mothers willing to do IVA tests show that there is an increase in motivation after the implementation of counseling activities. After the implementation of this community service, it is hoped that mothers will continue to routinely carry out early detection with the support of the active role of cadres and health workers.

Abstract

Indonesia is in third place among Asia Pacific countries for the growth and spread of HIV with a total of 46,000 cases. East Java Province is designated as an area with concentrated HIV prevalence along with five other provinces, namely DKI Jakarta, Papua, Bali, Riau and West Java. Knowledge is one of the predisposing factors in early detection of HIV disease, as well as risky behavior that can cause HIV AIDS transmission. This research aims to provide education to key communities as an effort to increase knowledge about HIV AIDS prevention and transmission. This research takes the form of experimental research, namely by measuring the increase in respondents' knowledge through pretest and posttest after the intervention. The intervention takes the form of providing education related to knowledge of preventing HIV/AIDS transmission. The intervention that will be carried out to increase knowledge about safe sexual behavior and preventing HIV AIDS transmission will be carried out by providing education on preventing HIV AIDS transmission in key communities at the Mahameru Foundation for 40 respondents. Risky sexual behavior such as having sexual relations with irregular partners, not using condoms during sexual intercourse, having sexual relations under the influence of alcohol and drugs are still carried out by key communities. The level of knowledge regarding risky sexual behavior, how HIV AIDS is transmitted and how to prevent HIV AIDS before education is carried out is still low.

Abstract

Kenjeran Beach Amusement Park is one of the beaches with a strategic area bordering the Madura Strait. In addition, Kenjeran Beach Amusement Park also provides several facilities that can be enjoyed by tourists. The results of observations, still found low personal hygiene of food vendors, not all food vendors provide trash bins, and tourists are still seen littering. Based on the results of the problem situation analysis, it is necessary to strengthen healthy behavior in the community around the tourist area. The targets of the activity were elementary school students around the Kenjeran beach tourism area in Surabaya City 113 students and food and beverage vendors in the Kenjeran beach tourism area 20 in number, using total sampling. The purpose of community service activities carried out to strengthen community healthy living behavior to support tourism areas in the Kenjeran Beach area, Surabaya. The implementation that has been carried out in this community service are education to elementary school children, education to food vendors, observation of the cleanliness of the tourist area observation of how to serve snacks and laboratory tests of microbial contamination in food/beverage snacks. Then to evaluate understanding after education by analyzing the mean value of pre-test and post-test. The results of this activity have provided education for elementary school students regarding clean and healthy living behavior in the area even though the average pre-test score of 6.15 decreased to 6.07 during the post-test. The socialization of safe and healthy snacks for food vendors in THP Kenjeran Lama has also been carried out with the pre-test score having an average of 5.2 then increased to 8.7 at the time of the post-test. Laboratory test results showed a very alarming condition, namely 88.89% of food-beverage samples were contaminated with microbes with various types of bacteria. Suggestions from the results of this activity are still the need for more intensive education to school children about the selection of snacks and diseases transmitted through food and beverages. There is still a need for assistance from food vendors in processing and serving food and drinks by sanitary hygiene standards.
